LOGINVIKTOR
Breakfast was surprisingly peaceful especially because Natalia wasn’t at the table with us. I didn’t ask where she was, to be honest I didn’t really care. Anya talked the entire time, happily switching from Russian to scattered English words she was picking up faster than I expected. She talked enough for 3 people. Katherine who sat across from me like a woman who had nothing on her conscience laughed at the things Anya said and at all the right times too. I pretended to focus on my coffee, unfortunately my eyes had a mind of it’s own. My eyes kept drifting to Katherine and she caught me staring. I wondered what she was thinking of me. Especially after that night. I tried my best to stay focused on the different types of food in front of me, all to no avail. She looked more like the food I wanted to eat. Fuck. I can’t be thinking of that now. It would be hard to leave the table if my cock decided to get erect. These days my body decides to go against me. I can barely even control my own thoughts whenever I was around her. I looked at Romanov who was standing at one corner of the dining room and he smiled. He had noticed. Of course he had. Romanov was basically the only person left from my childhood. He started working with me from a very young age too. Anya finally finished eating and excused herself from the table making the silence between me and Katherine even worse. Luckily Yuri came with something that needed my attention and Katherine picked up her coffee cup excusing herself from the table. She smiled at Yuri before leaving. I looked between her and Yuri wondering what the smile was about. Yuri said nothing. ___________________ By evening I watched how Katherine left to visit her Grandmother and how she came back before sunset. She would always go to her house to visit whenever her schedule with Anya allowed it. Watching her every move through the cameras in the house whenever I could was no longer something new to me. I told myself that it was for security, which was not entirely a lie. She moved through the front entrance, said something to the guard that made him almost smile before wandering through the ground floor with enough energy for someone who had just been out. What exactly did she tell the guard? And why did she smile at Yuri this morning too? Even Romanov doesn’t bother me about how letting a private investigator into the house was the most dangerous thing I could have ever done. How in the world is she cozying up to all of my people. I looked at Romanov who was standing beside me and he raised a brow, wondering why I was looking at him. I turned back to the cameras and saw she was still in sight. The only places in the house that had no cameras are the rooms. Although I had bugged hers with an audio device. She hadn’t said one thing to incriminate herself. If she wasn't talking to her grandmother on the phone, she would be talking to Gabriella. Her best friend, who sounded familiar like I knew her. Her life was pretty boring to say the least. She had not gotten a new boyfriend. Good. Her figure moved through the cameras and I watched how she slowly came to a stop at the front of my office. The door was slightly opened. She looked around before slipping into the office. I leaned forward in my chair. She moved around the desk carefully, picking a document from it. She looked at it for a moment before setting it back down, exactly how it was placed. Then she brought out her phone and took pictures of all of them, one after the other. “Should we stop her?” Romanov asked. “No” “Isn’t those documents incriminating to us?” He said after looking at the screen and back at me. I smiled. “That’s what I want her to think” Romanov was quiet for a moment before speaking again. “Do you really think she’ll take the bait?” “She already has” I said with a bit of disappointment in my tone. What did I expect really? She was sent here to destroy me. Did I really think she’d have a change of heart after staying here for just a month? When she was done she walked out of the office like she had never been there before. She finally disappeared out of the camera’s sight and into her room. I sat quietly in my chair for two minutes… thinking. “She would want to submit those pictures to someone tomorrow, I want you to follow her when she leaves the house” I said to Romanov before I got up and walked out of the room we were in. I wanted to listen in on what she would probably be saying and to who. I walked straight to my room and brought out the audio feedback. Even Romanov didn't know I bugged her room. I put the earpiece in my ear and listened in. There was nothing. Just the sound of running water, sheets and breathing. She was probably fast asleep. That was what I thought before I heard her giggling. It took me a while to figure out that she was reading a book. She had read more books than the owner of the library. I listened to her, laugh, curse and talk to herself before I finally removed the earpiece from my ears and decided to do some work. When I was done it was already past midnight. I opened my fridge for a bottle of water but it was all filled with alcohol. I sighed and basically jogged downstairs to find a bottle of water from the kitchen only to find Katherine. She was in a short red nightwear. “Are you done staring?” she asked and I froze. “What are you doing?” I asked. “I thought everyone would be asleep” she said not answering my question. “I was about to say the same thing” I folded my hands. Who in God’s name cooks in the middle of the night? Why is she always putting something in her mouth at ungodly hours. Makes me think of what else can fit into her mouth. “I was hungry” “So you decided to cook a full meal?” She gave me an awkward smile. Before I could guess what she was making, she reached for a bottle of wine from the counter. “What are you doing?” I asked. “It says to add red wine” Before I could blink she poured a generous amount of wine directly into the hot frying pan and it caught fire. My body froze. Fire. I was no longer standing in the kitchen, I was back to 18 years ago. Smoke filled my lungs. My mother’s and sister’s screams echoed. The heat, the smell, the sound of wood collapsing. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t save them. “Viktor...” “Viktor are you okay?” Katherine’s voice pulled me out. She looked at me terrified. She had turned off the burner. I realized I was shaking. Fuck. “I’m fine” I tried to sound firm. “You don’t look fine to me” “I said…” my voice got higher “I’m fine”KATHY 3 days later we were back in the US. I was very glad to be back. Being attacked wasn't part of the vacation specifications and I didn't like that very much even though I had caught the rat. Viktor had killed him without even thinking twice. Would he do the same to me when he finds out who I really am? I had better start making escape plans just in case. The drive back to the mansion somehow felt heavenly. Three cars, Viktor and Romanov in one, Natalia and Anya in the other and I in the last car. It was peaceful. I looked at my arm which had healed enough that I no longer needed a bandage, though the scar was still there. I would have to wear long sleeve shirts to visit Nana. It would be hard to explained that my life was at risk at my employer's home. The car I was in finally came to a stop last. Anya and Natalia had already gone inside while I walked behind Viktor who was many steps away from me. The moment I stepped on the foyer, I saw Zuri. "Kathy" he gre
KATHY"Call the doctor."Viktor's voice was calm, but everyone moved immediately.Romanov gave a short nod before disappearing down the hallway.I looked down at my arm. The adrenaline had worn off, and the burning pain was becoming harder to ignore. Blood had soaked through my sleeve, staining my shirt.About 15 minutes later, the doctor arrived. He cleaned the wound, stitched the cut, and wrapped my forearm in a neat white bandage."It isn't deep," he said. "You'll be sore for a few days, but you'll be fine. I'll give you some painkillers"As soon as he finished, Viktor looked at me."Go get your things."I frowned."My things?""We're leaving."I stood up to leave but Anya wouldn't let go. So we both went into my room together and I packed my bags. I didn't leave anything behind. We also went to Anya's room and picked some of her clothes and stuffed toys inside her school bag and we both went downstairs.Viktor took one look at my bag and back at my face.I shrugged. There was no w
KATHYI knew something was wrong the moment Viktor said we were leaving the country. "A vacation" was what he called it. Although the few days I had been here had been beautiful so far, something just didn't feel right. I could feel it. I wish I could just know what was happening. But my best guess was that the Mafia was under attach. The security around Viktor had doubled since we'd arrived. Romanov was constantly on the phone. Guards rotated shifts more frequently than before, and Viktor himself rarely relaxed, no matter how calm he appeared.Which made it all the more reason to believe that they were having some kind of fight. Would running away for a week really protect us? That afternoon, I wandered through one of the quiet hallways, hoping to clear my head, because something just kept nagging at me.I heard voices through a half-open door."...I've told you before."It was Viktor's voice.I stopped involuntarily.I wasn't trying to eavesdrop or anything.I had every intent
VIKTOR I hadn't stopped thinking about yesterday. It was becoming a problem. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Katherine diving into the pool without a hint of hesitation. The moment she came back out of the water in her swim suit, I knew all hope were lost for me. I wanted her. Beautiful. Dangerously beautiful. I let out a quiet sigh and rubbed a hand over my face. I had meetings to think about. A war brewing back in New York. Shipments that needed rerouting. Enemies who wanted my head. Instead... I was thinking about Katherine. Pathetic. I left my room and walked down the hallway toward hers. Just as I was about to knock, I heard laughter. Not just laughter. Her laughter. "...Gabby, stop!" she giggled through the phone. "No, I'm serious!" She laughed again. "I am not blushing!" A smile threatened to form on my lips. It disappeared the moment I realized I was smiling because of a woman talking on the phone. Ridiculous. I knocked o
KATHYI had never been on a private plane before. The moment I stepped into Viktor’s private plane I immediately realized we lived in twice completely different worlds. The cabin looked more like a living room in a 5 star hotel than an airplane. The whole seats where made of black leather. And everything else looked just as expensive.I sat on one of the seats at the back, pretending like this was all normal to me but it wasn’t.Anya had no problem at all though. She bounced on the seat beside me like she had been doing that all her life, which I was sure she was.She looked at me smiling then she eagerly grabbed my hand and started showing me around while Viktor discussed something with Romanov near the front area.I watched them for all of two seconds before turning my attention back to Anya. I already knew something was wrong the moment he said we were going on vacation. I just didn't know what.Nana wasn’t happy about me leaving the country when I told her I wouldn’t be around for
KATHY"You're smiling."Gabby narrowed her eyes at me as we stepped out of the boutique, shopping bags hanging from both our wrists."I'm not""You've been smiling for the last five minutes.""I have not"She folded her arms."You're thinking about a certain grumpy Mr. Expensive.""I absolutely am not."She gave me a look that screamed liar.I chuckled lightly trying to get her to stop talking but before she could tease me again, I casually glanced at the reflection in a nearby shop window. There they were. Two men.One pretending to study a display of watches. The other scrolling through his phone.Neither of them was interested in shopping. They were interested in me, it was too easy to tell.I almost laughed."What?" Gabriella asked."Nothing."I kept walking."Just... don't look behind you."She immediately tried to look behind her.I grabbed her arm."I literally just told you not to."Her eyes widened."Someone's following us?""Two someones.""Oh my God.""Relax.""They could b
KATHY"Katherine, Katherine" Daniel called out to me while I was walking as fast as my legs could carry me.My hands were shaking and my heels were suddenly too loud that my feet felt numb. My chest hurt so badly that I couldn't breathe properly."Katherine, wait!" he said again. "It's not what you
KATHY When the car came to a stop I looked out the window then froze. My house. My actual house? A chill ran down my spine immediately. How did he know where I and Nana lived? I looked at him and a small smile creeped up his lips. He knew what I was about to ask. I decided to bru
KATHYI opened my eyes groggily, for a moment I had no idea where I was.I was in a bed that was not mine and that was the first problem. The second problem was that the sheets were too expensive. The sheets would cost higher than my rent... If I paid rent. The third problem was that I sat down too
KATHY"Forgive me, father, for I have sinned" I said, the words leaving my mouth for like the millionth time. And honestly, every time I said it I meant it a little differently and today it was about a man I shot last Tuesday. I didn't kill him...but still...The guilt every time I shot someone si
