Chap 18: Truth hurts!

Steven's rage was all around me. In response to his cold and reproachful words, I just kept silent. My heart is now bleeding, so I am not eager to explain to this man. I took a deep breath to regain my composure, biting my lip to hold back my sobs and wiping away my tears.

I arm myself past Steven, limping away. Sharmaine raised her eyebrows at me defiantly, the corners of her mouth slightly raised as if to tell me I was a loser. Her mockery drove me momentarily mad. I want to claim some justice for myself. Without hesitation, I clenched my hands into fists and hit her hateful face.

"The bitch!" Sharmaine shouted in pain.

I hit her by surprise, so she fell backward. Matt quickly ran over and helped her up. I saw her nose bleed; my anger seemed to be soothed. Sharmaine aggressively walks toward me, probably intending to fight back, but Matt shakes his head, signaling her to stop since Steven is still here.
