HAZEL POV

“Tell me what that bastard did to you?” Winter tilted my face up. “Did he force himself on you?”

I shook my head. “He didn’t. But he locked me up. I’m really tired of all this, Win. I just wanted a fresh start. Maybe I would just quit college, go back to my family.” I sniffed.

“There’s no way in hell you are quitting college because of that prick.” She stood and paced around.

“He won’t leave me alone, Winter. He said that himself. I need to leave here. After what happened at that auct

KILLIAN POVStaring at the couch that Hazel was just sitting on, I downed the scotch in my hand. I can’t get the hurt on her face out of my mind. Emotions I’ve never felt before bombarded me. I wanted to just hold her and tell her and whisper how I feel for her in her ears, to make her see that I’m crazy about her. I just fucking want to protect her. But I keep fucking it up because of my issues. The buzz of my phone snaps me out of my thoughts. I picked it up to see Mitch calling.“Got any news yet?”“Yes, kid. The person that sent the parcel goes by the name Lilian Bennett.” There was a brief silence before he spoke again. “I traced it back to London. The kid went to the same school you and Hazel did.”I stood up and went outside. Hazel could be awake, and I don’t want any misunderstanding until I know the truth.“What?”“That’s it, kid. She and Hazel were classmates. I tried to find out more about her, but that’s it. There’s no connection whatsoever that a name like that is in Lega

HAZEL POV“My mother was the only one who would beg my father to let me go. She would lie outside that door and talk to me all night to make sure I was okay. I never answered her. I liked it in there. No noise, no people,” he shrugged. “My brother and I were never on the same page because he wanted to impress my dad, so he never spoke against what he did.”“Killian, I’m so sorry.”“Don’t be, Hazel. It shaped me to be who I am today. Yes, I always wanted his approval somehow in my teenage years. It made me do things…” He cut off whatever he wanted to say.“It’s okay if you don’t want to share those memories.” I saw a flicker of guilt in his eyes, but he masked it.“What about your mum? I assume you spend the holiday with her?”He scoffed, picked up his drink, and took a sip.“She hates me. Said I’m mentally unstable because I beat their favorite son to a pulp.”“What? Why would you do that?”“He said some shit I didn’t like, so…” He tutted.I had not met his brother, and I didn’t know

HAZEL POV“How was your holiday?” Killian asked while he poured himself a drink.“An asshole spoiled it by showing up.” I picked up the water and downed it.He smirked and took a sip of his drink. “Well, it got you to return back to school.”“I wouldn’t have had to think of transferring if it wasn’t for you,” I shot back.He looked at me for a long time before he spoke. “I’m sorry for showing up at your doorstep, given our history.”That got me looking up at him. “What did you say?” I asked in a low voice.“You heard me, Hazel. But I’m not sorry for wanting you to come back. I might be an asshole, but I wouldn’t want you to quit college because of me. I can tell you put in a lot of work getting here.”My poor heart skipped a beat. I didn’t know what to say. He seemed different somehow—he was still an asshole, but there was something about him that was just different.“You don’t like the food?”“Huh?”“You have not taken a bite of it.” He motioned to the food.I looked down at the plat

HAZEL POV Sitting at the library, I kept on texting the unknown number from last night. I called the number last night, but no answer. Someone is playing games with me because it wasn’t even a burner phone. After many “Who are you? Why are you doing this? I can’t even harm a fly. Why are you threatening me?” texts, there was still no answer. I tossed my phone down.“This was supposed to be a new start again. Can’t I get a damn peace in this school?” I muttered. My mind drifted back to that package. It’s been months. Could this unknown text and that package be from the same person? I might have at some point, blame Killian for the package, but I still believe he’s not the one.I rubbed my forehead and exhaled. I sensed a tickle at my neck before a hand covered my mouth, and I froze. My eyes widened, my heart beating faster. I fisted my hands. A tongue swiped up my neck before a hot breath hit my cheek.“That’s it. Stay quiet for me, baby.”Killian.I breathed out in relief. At least i

KILLIAN POV“Hey, man.”“What are you doing here?” Jason took a seat next to me, pouring himself a scotch.“What? I can’t talk to you anymore?” He downed his drink, stretching his tattooed arm on the table.“You lost that privilege when you decided to play those games with Lucian on my girl.”I was sitting at my favorite bar. I like it here because it's chill and not quite noisy like the others.“Your girl? Last I checked, you had no problem when we all made that bet that night. Now she’s your girl. You even made Lucian quit because of some pu...” He swallowed the remaining words when I glared at him.“All I’m saying is that we were all friends before this chick came along. Suddenly, you’re all about her. You even forgot your own brothers.” He downed another scotch.“You guys ain’t my brothers. I clearly know about our bet that night. But I asked you guys not to go near her, but Lucian decided it was fucking okay to put his hands on my girl. So no, Jason, no brother would do that.”I

HAZEL POV“Just go in. You are no longer a child,” I mentally chanted to myself as I stood steps away from the dorm. Holiday break was over. Now I’m a sophomore, back at Legacy Thorne.“Hazel!” someone shouted from behind before a pair of warm hands came around me.“You returned. I’m so happy you changed your mind.”I laughed. “How can I leave you alone, my wild girl?” I turned to a crying Winter. “Come on, let’s go inside. It’s cold.”“Okay, tell me everything that happened. Why did you change your mind? What did your parents say about everything?” she rushed out the second we stepped inside.“Breathe, Win.” I sighed and dropped onto my bed. “The transfer was rejected.”“Oh my gosh. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I should get the chancellor a fruit basket for rejecting it.” She winced as I glared at her, shaking my head.I told her everything that happened with my parents, minus the Killian-showing-up part.“What did your brother say when he got back?” she asked.“He was the on
