LOGINHAZEL POV
The campus clock tower chimed midnight. Cold wind whipped my long black hair across my face as I stood outside the campus maintenance garage. The massive metal doors were cracked open just an inch, a sliver of harsh yellow light cutting through the pitch-black darkness. My phone weighed a thousand pounds in my pocket. If I turned around and went back to my dorm, my past would be uploaded to the forum by 12:01. The fat girl from London. The girl who was locked in a janitor’s closet for hours while classmates laughed outside. I had spent three years starving myself, running until my lungs burned, and rewriting my entire identity to bury that girl. I couldn't let Killian dig her back up. I pushed the heavy metal door open. It screeched against the concrete floor. The garage smelled of engine oil, gasoline, and stale cigarette smoke. Three sleek, black motorcycles were parked in a neat row. Sitting on the hood of a dismantled sports car was Lucian Vane, tossing a silver pocket knife casually in the air. Jason Jax stood near a workbench, drinking a beer. And in the center of it all was Killian Blackwood. He was leaning against his bike, his long legs crossed at the ankles. He wore his heavy leather motorcycle jacket, the collar popped against the chill. He was rolling a lighter across his knuckles, click, flash, click, flash. The flame illuminated his sharp jawline and the predatory gleam in his dark eyes. "Look who decided to be a good girl," Jason mocked, slamming his beer bottle down on the workbench. "I told you she'd show, Killian. She's terrified of you." "Shut up, Jason," Killian said. His voice wasn’t loud, but it cut through the room like iron. Jason instantly went quiet. Killian stopped flicking the lighter. He stood up straight, his six-foot frame instantly throwing a long shadow over me. He walked toward me slowly, his heavy boots echoing against the concrete. I instinctively took a step back, but my spine hit the cold metal door. I was trapped. He stopped just inches away. The scent of leather and cold rain enveloped me, making my heart race. "You're late, sweetpea," Killian murmured, checking his watch. "12:02. I almost pressed upload." "You have what you want," I said, my voice trembling despite my best efforts to sound brave. "I’m here. Delete the video." Killian chuckled, a deep, rumbling sound that vibrated right through my chest. He reached out, his thumb slowly tracing my jawline. His skin was freezing, sending a sharp jolt of electricity down my spine. "Delete it? We're just getting started, Hazel. You don't get off that easy." "What do you want from me, Killian?" I demanded, shoving his hand away from my face. "You already ruined my life once in London. Why can't you just leave me alone?" "Because you ran," he whispered, leaning down until his lips were inches from my ear. "And I hate it when my favorite toys run away. You think a glow-up changes who you are? You're still mine to break." Lucian laughed from the background, the sound unhinged and mocking. "Tell her the terms, Blackwood. The clock is ticking." Killian pulled a folded piece of paper from his jacket pocket and flicked it open. He slammed it against the metal door right next to my head. "This is your new reality, freshman. You sign this contract. For the next thirty days, you are my personal assistant. You do whatever I say, you write my essays, and you show up whenever I call. If you skip a single day, the video goes public." "That’s slavery," I breathed, staring at the typed lines on the paper. "It's a deal," Killian corrected, his dark eyes locking onto mine with an intense, suffocating grip. "You protect your precious secret, and I get what I want." "And what happens after thirty days?" I asked, my breathing shallow. Killian leaned in closer, his chest pressing lightly against mine. I could feel the hard muscle beneath his shirt, the terrifying warmth of his body. "After thirty days, I delete the video, and I let you go. If you survive." Jason walked over, tossing a black pen onto the hood of the car. "Sign it, freshman. Or I upload the video right now. My finger is on the button." I looked at the pen. I looked at Killian’s toxic, victorious smirk. My hands shook as I reached out and picked up the pen. If I signed this, I was entering the lion's den. But if I didn't, my life at legacy Thorne was over before it even began. I pressed the paper against the metal door and scribbled my name at the bottom. My signature looked wrong on the page, too small, too shaky, nothing like the version of myself I’d spent three years building. For one wild second I thought about tearing it in half, running, taking my chances with the video instead of whatever this was. But my hand wouldn’t move. Some part of me, the part that still remembered the janitor’s closet, had already decided I would rather belong to a devil than be laughed at again. Killian snatched the paper away immediately, folding it and sliding it back into his jacket. A dark, terrifying smile spread across his face. He reached out, his long fingers tangling into my black hair, forcing my head back so I had to look at him. "Good girl," he whispered, his eyes dropping to my lips. "Your first task starts right now. Follow me." He turned and walked toward the back office of the garage, leaving me standing there in the cold. My stomach twisted into a painful knot. I had just signed my soul over to the devil.KILLIAN POVI didn't wait for her to recover. My hand curled around her waist as I pulled her with me through the backstage. The girls there whispered how lucky she was to be with me. No shit, I’m the lucky one. I pulled her outside towards my car. The shock must have worn off because she shouted out,"Killian, let go of me!"I ignored her and opened the car door. “Get in.”“What the hell do you think you’re doing? You know what, I will forget about this act of yours tonight. Right now, I need to find Winter so we can get the hell out of here.”I let her walk away. She almost made it inside till I pulled her back and threw her over my shoulder."Put me down, you psychopath! Let me go!" She screamed.I threw her inside the car the same time her friend came outside, shouting, “Hazel!”“Winter, help!” My girl shouted.I pulled the car out and drove off with her friend shouting Hazel's name."Are you completely out of your mind?" Hazel screamed again. “I need to get back to Winter. Let me
HAZEL POV“Let go of me! I told you I didn't audition for this!” I screamed. “I said let go, you overgrown big bastards!”“Shut up and stay in line, forty-six,” the larger guard barked again.“There's been a mistake! Check the system again!” I pleaded, my voice cracking with pure panic as tears blurred my vision. “My name shouldn't be on that list! Let me out of here!”None of the girls even looked at me. If anything, they were delighted to be here. Sick people. They kept on calling numbers, and the girls one by one walked out. I heard them bidding, and this is really sick. Are we bags of chips or what? Always listen to your damn guts, Hazel.“Entry number forty-two, you're up,” a female yelled, clicking her pen.A tall brunette stepped forward, the heavy curtains parting as she walked out onto the main stage. The second she stepped out, a deafening roar erupted.“Alright, gentlemen!” the student MC’s voice boomed over the loudspeakers. “Let’s keep the numbers climbing! Bidding for nu
HAZEL POVFriday night arrived far too quickly. Winter spent two hours tearing through her closet before turning on me, forcing me out of bed and into a fitted dark green dress that I didn't even remember owning. I tried to argue, but she wasn't having it."We are going, Hazel," she insisted. "You promised me, and besides, what would you be doing here? Thinking? Or studying? You’re 20, you gotta live."“Why do I have a feeling I’m gonna regret this?” I sighed.“Oh, please stop whining like an old woman. Now shoo.” She pushed me towards the door.An hour later, the bass from the speakers pounded through my heels as we stepped into the private campus theater. I almost didn’t recognize the place. It had been turned into a fancy ballroom, like something straight out of a movie. We were offered masks, and we slipped them on and went inside the hall.“Wow.”“I know, right?” Winter giggled.Winter grabbed champagne for both of us, and I took a sip. “So what exactly do they do here?”“You wil
HAZEL POV“I’m telling you it’s true,” Conner said, sliding a chip into his mouth.Winter leaned forward. “What exactly is going on in this campus? First someone sent her a bloody parcel, secondly a video of it was cast all over the place, and thirdly the said video just disappeared. This is really becoming a problem.”“Maybe it’s Killian.” Conner shrugged. “He might be doing it to taunt you. Guy is a menace.”“Aha, I said the same thing, and she was all like, ‘Oh, that’s not his way.’” Winter shook her head at me.“Sorry to say, Hazel, he’s the only one that has been bothering you around here, not to say he almost beat me to death, so yeah, my bet’s on him.”“I already apologized for that,” I mumbled. He stood and patted my shoulder. “And I already said it’s fine. It was not your fault. But whatever happens, you gotta stay clear of him. He’s bad news.” He kissed Winter on the cheek and left us alone in the cafe.“Are you two a thing now?” I smiled at her.“Maybe.” She blushed.I laug
KILLIAN POVI slammed the door to my room shut, my body vibrating with anger.“You will be back here on your knees one day, mark my words.” His words rang in my head.“Never,” I muttered. I stripped off my clothes and walked into the bathroom, turning on the shower to wash the day’s exhaustion off my body.I leaned my head flat against the cold tiles, ran my hand through my face, wondering exactly how I’m going to keep Hazel away from all this.I shut the water off, wrapped a towel around my waist, and walked back into the bedroom. I stopped to see my Mum sitting on my bed.“Killian, baby,” she whispered. “This was not how I pictured this night to go. You shouldn't have talked that way to your father. You shouldn't have hit him, my boy. You know how he gets when people challenge his authority.”“I don't give a damn about his authority, Mum. Ain’t you tired of all this shit?”She let out a slow, heavy sigh. “He’s still your father, my husband. He just wants what’s best for you and your
KILLIAN POVIdling around at the biker lot, I kept staring at my phone, waiting for Mitch to miraculously call. I know it’s not even been a day, but I’m not a patient man.I took my eyes off it for a moment, and it rang. I looked, but it was my mum, not Mitch.“Hello, my boy.”“Mum.”“How are you doing, baby?”“I’m good, Mum. Why did you call?” I know it breaks her heart when I shut her out, but I can’t help it.“Your father wants you back home,” she said in a low voice.I slammed my palm against my bike’s handle. I knew her calling got something to do with that man. “It’s been over a week and he’s still at it? I told the old man I'm busy. Tell him to go to hell.”“Killian, please,” she pleaded down the line. “Don't hang up. I know how much you don’t get along with your father. But you need to come home, hear him out, please. Just for one night.”“He has nothing to say that I want to hear.”“It’s not just about him, baby,” she whispered, her voice cracking slightly. “It’s also about m
