Ethan’s POV
“Where are these slaves coming from?” I sighed, rubbing my temples. Nothing happened in my kingdom without me knowing, but somehow this was flying under the radar. Why couldn’t we find out who was behind? We got close a few times, but then the trace went cold. There had to be witches involved, but why?
“I don’t know, dude. But if I pull another body out of the forest like that again.” Garret couldn’t finish his sentence. The man that sat before me felt just as broken as I did. Someone was dumping the bodies of omega slaves on the border of our kingdom. The state that we found the bodies in was the worst that we had seen.
“We are missing something. Why are they getting dumped near the border? Is someone trying to start another war with the Lycans? I think we need to visit the Crescent Moon Pack again. I know they signed an alliance with the Lycan King but I have a feeling he is helping.” There was a knock at the door as my Gamma and Delta walked into the office.
“How many this time?” James asked me. James was my Gamma, there was no one else that compared to the way he trained all the fighters, and there was a reason why our kingdom hadn’t lost any ground. Every person that lived under my kingdom had to learn how to fight, which is what made us strong. I assigned an Alpha to each pack with his Luna, but the Gamma had to come here and be trained by James.
“There were five this time, well at least that’s what we think. They were ripped apart, no heads this time, but the state their bodies were in, they suffered profoundly.” I poured myself another drink and offered my friends one as well. We sat there in silence until the maid told us that dinner was being served. In the dining room, we sat down to eat.
“Where is Sara tonight? Is she not joining us?” Isaac, my Delta, asked me as he said this as she walked into the room.
“Sorry guys, they needed help at the hospital. One of the omegas found her mate, but he rejected her, she was knocked out cold from the pain and just left on the ground.” Sara explained. She kissed my cheek as she took her seat by me. None of us had been lucky enough to find our mates yet. Sara lost her mate many years ago. I helped her heal and we fall in love. The kingdom loves her and so do I. That’s why she is my chosen mate and Luna. She is one of the pack doctors when she is needed there.
“Do you know who she is?” Garrett asked her.
“That’s the sad thing. We can’t figure out who she is, so I was hoping one of you guys would come by the hospital tomorrow and see if you know who she is. How was the trip?” She asked as she looked into my eyes, searching for the answer I didn’t want to give.
“That bad. Ok, let’s talk about it later. I did hear one of the omega girls today saying her sister was sold off to Alpha Than and her mother was informed two weeks later she had died in a rogue attack.” This is why I loved Sara. Everyone trusted her and she didn’t care what your rank was. But another rogue attack on Alpha Than’s pack. I found that hard to believe.
“He has something to do with this. No pack in this kingdom claims they get that many rogue attacks and the only ones that die are omegas. It is time to pay Alpha’s Than and Alpha Jacob a visit.” I said, for the rest of the meal we were silent, I think lost in our own thoughts.
“Ethan, I will be back soon. I want to go back and check on the omega girl. James, do you want to join me?”
“Don’t work too hard, baby.” I whispered in her ear.
“Yes almighty Mr Alpha.” She said, causing everyone to laugh. She knew how to make us all smile even when we were in the worst moods. After they left, I went back to the office to make a few calls.
“Hello King Ethan, to what do I owe the pleasure of this conversation?” Alpha Than answered.
“I am coming to visit after hearing about another rogue attack. I will be there within the next week.”
“Of course Alpha. We look forward to seeing you.” I hung up the phone. I pulled the file out on the Crescent Moon pack. Aiden had just taken over Alpha in that pack with his Luna Alexis. It seems that they still haven’t found Alpha Jacob adn Luna Maree’s daughter. They assume she is dead. The photo we had of her she was only fifteen years old. The poor girl would have been twenty-one this year. She was a beautiful girl. They told us she was an omega that they had adopted because they had lost three children of their own. I still think that they did something with her. I have to go there because Alpha Aiden wants an alliance with us instead of the Lycan King this time.
“Alpha, we have a list of the names of the bodies you brought back. I am sorry, but they are all omegas who were reported as missing by their parents. All from the same pack Alpha. Crescent Moon pack.” Stan said to me through the pack link. Stan was a friend of my father's before he died. He still held the same job. He prepared the bodies and handled all the deaths for the pack.
“Thank you Stan. Can you write a report and I will contact the Alpha of the pack tomorrow.”
“Alpha from the tests, they were raped. There were traces of wolfs bane and silver in their blood. The way they died was horrible.” He sighed.
“Thank you Stan. I know your job isn’t easy.”
“Neither is yours, Alpha.” He said as he cut off the link.
“Ethan, you need to get here now.” Sara screamed through the mate bond. Colton howled in my head.
“Isaac, Garrett, we need to get to the hospital now.” Within minutes, we got to the hospital. We heard James’s wolf growling. What the hell happened to him to sound like that? Sara was on the bed protecting a girl, trying to calm James down, but he had Tobias backed into the corner like he was ready to kill him. Sara’s eyes fall on me and she instantly calmed down.
“James, buddy, you need to calm down.” I said, placing a hand on his wolf’s back. It took a few seconds before he shifted back. Garrett handed him a robe to put on because he had shredded his clothes from the look of things.
“Now, does someone want to tell me what is going on?” I said, using my Alpha tone a little, which caused the girl to whimper. James ran to her, soothing her.
“Sorry Ethan. This here is my mate Lizzie.” James announced to us. What the hell was going on? I looked at the girl. I didn’t know who she was.
“Tobias over there was the one that rejected her. He came back because he wanted to have a little fun with her. The bastard was on top of her, trying to rip her gown off when we got here. We recognized her as our mate right away. He is lucky I didn’t kill him.” He was angry, but he never took his eyes off his mate’s face.
“Luna Sara, is that what happened?” Garrett asked Sara.
“Every word is spoken true.” Sara answered.
“You know what happens when you try to rape someone in my kingdom, Tobias.” I roared at him. He was whimpering in the corner.
“Please, Alpha, I didn’t mean it.”
“You didn’t mean to try to rape this girl who you rejected and left for dead on the street.” I grabbed him by the throat.
“Isaac, take him to the cells. We will punish there you and then you will die at the hands of the girl or by Gamma James.”
Isaac grabbed him by the back of the neck, him and Garrett walked him out of the room. This poor girl, so much, had happened to her in a day. I walked over to her slowly because I didn’t want to frighten the poor thing anymore.
“Lizzie, this is our Alpha King Ethan.” James smiled at her. I had never seen him so gentle with anyone before. He used to curse the Moon Goddess, thinking that he was never going to get a mate, but here she was.
“Hi Alpha, I am Lizzie.” Her voice was very soft, she was shy.
“Lizzie, I am very sorry for what has happened to you. But your mate will look after you now, I promise. He is my Gamma and I trust him with your Luna’s and my life.” She looked at James with her big puppy dog eyes.
“Honey, do you have any family that we can tell you are here?” Sara asked her.
“No Luna, my entire pack was killed by rogues many years ago whilst I was here studying.” Tears fall from her eyes.
“You are our family now, honey. James, I think we will be ok to move her to the pack house tonight. I think it will be safest for her.”
“Thank you Luna. Thank you Alpha.” I looked at the way Sara was with her. I couldn’t wait to have pups with this woman. We were both twenty-six now, that’s why I always believed I was mateless. Sara agreed that if I hadn’t found my mate by twenty-five, then she would let me mark her and make her the packs Luna.
“James, are you going to be ok with Lizzie? I would like to talk to my Luna.” I asked him. He nodded his head, not taking his eyes off his mate.
“Luna.” I said as I took her hand, leading her to her office. Closing the door, I spun her around, pushing her against the door. She gasped.
“My Luna, you make me want to take you here and now.” I whispered in her ear as I kissed her neck, sucking on my mark, causing her to moan.
“Alpha Ethan, how dare you?” She laughed, pushing me back.“What happened?” I asked her as I sat at her desk, pulling her onto my lap.
“We came to the room and James said mate when her scent hit us as I opened the door, we saw Tobias trying to rape her Ethan, he almost killed her again. Flora took control, ripping Tobias off her. James made sure Lizzie was ok. I have never seen that side of him before. Then he shifted and was about to rip his throat out when I commanded him not to. Then you guys came.” She sighed as she rubbed her temples.
Darius’s POV Since, when could our mate show someone the memories of what had happened? Seems we didn’t know too much about her powers, but that was to be expected, I guess. It was hard to just sit there and watch her show Jolon and me not comfort her. But it was always her choice. I would never force her. She seemed to have a plan with Jolon. I trust her judgment. “We will only step in if something happens to our mate.” “I agree buddy.” Trying to calm my inner beast, because we both knew if he couldn’t stay calm, then how was I ever going to? Josie had placed her hand on my lap, rubbing little circles on my thigh with her thumb as if she could sense my tension, which if she could, then I needed to reel it in. “Jolon, do you think you will tell us your story?” She asked him in barely more than a whisper. I looked at Jolon, hoping that my old friend was still in there somewhere and he wasn’t too far gone, that we couldn’t bring him back. His face was full of sorrow, looking into he
Josie’s POV“Darius, what about Jess?” The question had been eating me up since I had let the others become part of the bond. I was sitting on the bed as Darius was finishing a few things on the computer. I would be his tonight and he would be mine, but I wanted a clear mind of everything first.“I don’t know. I can honestly say this is the one time I am unsure of Jess and her motives. We need to go and see Jolon first before anything is decided, but I want to do one thing first.” He wriggled his brows at me. I almost forgot about Jolon, with everything that had just happened. Wiggling my finger at him indicating he should come over to the bed, he stalked over to me slowly. “Are you sure you want to do this now, my little mate?” his voice was husky, making my core throb. After everything I had been through, my heart was telling me this was right and the timing was right. “I am Darius. After what happened to me, I didn’t know if I would ever be ready, but I have a feeling we need to
Jocelyn’s POVThe scars that lined Xavier’s back were the hardest. It seemed like his skin had been torn apart. The mental scars these scars left on him ran so deep I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to heal him.“Athena, I need your help.” I whispered to her.“Jos, they run deep. If we take them, they will not only scar us mentally as well, but it will be physical.” She whispered as well. She was crying from the pain Xavier had suffered.“We have to Athena. I know we have to do this.” As I told her this, the memories he held of what happened entered our mind. So much pain because he wouldn’t give his sister up. She doesn’t know he suffered this because of him. The claws ripped through my back. Screaming, I fall to my knees, but I wasn’t done yet, they others approached me but I shook my head no. Instead, they gave me their strength, but it meant they would all bear some sort of
Darius POV“Ok.” She pulled me out of the room, because there was so much to do and I was feeling guilty I hadn’t told everyone yet. Dinner was going to be delivered soon. Everyone was looking at Ethan and Ava like they wanted to kill him. They needed to understand about everything. We couldn’t be divided, especially now, we would be stronger united.“There are things that have happened you all need to know about. Now that you're awake, Ethan, it will make it easier with a plan of attack.” This had their attention. I motioned for them all to sit at the table, which they did.“This entire time, we have been looking into and paying attention to the omega attacks, but I think this has been a distraction. I had a prisoner that just showed up and I now know is the mate of the rogue king planted here as a spy. The things she has done are unspeakable. She is Jocelyn’s birth mother. She was the Luna of the Berserkr Night M
“GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY OFFICE NOW.” I roared at her, vile was building in my stomach. I would kill her. How fucking dare she do is. How the hell did she even get into my office? Helga got up to see who I was talking to. She looked like she might faint, but what she did next surprised even. She pushed past me and grabbed Katie by the throat.“How dare you sneak into Alpha’s office and dress like the slut you are? He has a mate now and if she was here and caught you. Goddess help you Katie.” She hissed at Katie, whilst Katie was clawing at her hands to let her throat go. After a second she throw her to the ground. Katie grabbed her robe and ran out of the office before I could do anything else.“Fuck, I am so sorry, Alpha. I didn’t know. She must have snuck in when I wasn’t here.” She spoke really fast. I placed my hand on her shoulder.“Thank you Helga, for what you just did. I know you would have never have let her in.” I gave her shoulder a squeeze, she gave me a nod, then walked ou
Darius’s POV I hated to leave my mate, but my gamma really needed me right now. Josie gave me a look that I knew she understood that Jess needed me. Her mate had betrayed her, had cheered on Jolon to beat her. I mean, what kind of mate does that? His true colors started to appear. Jess was distraught. Never had I seen her cry, but here and now she was sitting in my office with a drink in her hand, crying tears over someone that didn’t deserve her. She looked at me. “How could he do that? I know you always had your doubts, but I am his mate.” She sighed as she downed her glass of whiskey. It was hard to become drunk as a Lycan, but not impossible if you lace your drink with wolfsbane, then you would be a goner. The burn of the liquid going down your throat was mostly enough. Jess had never had more than a few drinks, and she was now at her limit. I would let her have. “Because he is a fool, Jess. Jolon has him fooled like he had me fooled. Bane is an idiot and doesn’t seem to know w
