Chapter Ninety-Nine

Alina's POV

"I don't know. What do you think?" Mandy whispered as the men drew even closer.

"Maybe we should use our knives. They're only two of them and I think we stand a chance if we take them by surprise," I suggested despite the fear that gripped me.

"These men are well-trained and we're not. Why do you think we stand any chance against them?"

"I don't. Would you rather let them take us to the dungeon?"

"I'd rather die than let that happen," she responded defiantly.

"You'll be quiet, you both," one of the guards barked at us. Maybe she was a little too loud. Thankfully, they didn't hear exactly what we said.

"That's exactly why we must fight them," I whispered, ignoring the man's threats. "What's the worst that can happen? They'll just kill us. I don't think that's such a bad thing given the circumstances."

"What do we think we should do to them?" One of the guards asked the other.

"They're trying to escape so it won't be hard to simply say that we killed
