"The night my father died, was the eve of their wedding anniversary. A seventh anniversary. I did not care much though, it was their celebration not mine and then I was least interested in things like that. It was supposed to be like every normal night, sleep and wake up to the next day, same old routine. But I had this weird feeling, more like fear. I couldn't figure out why, I mean Damien never gets afraid, what could it be?" He looked down at his hands, letting out a humourless chuckle."So I decided to go meet my father, tell him about the weird situation. But what I saw that night was one I'd never forget even if I'm granted a next life. Standing by the door I watched as mother plunged the dagger into his chest repeatedly, blood spluttering on her face but she was the least worried, with an evil smile on her face I knew that was very intentional even though I tried to convince myself it was a mistake." I heaved out a shaky breath, staring into his eyes which were quite glossy. "M
I'm awakened by Damien's loud and disturbed voice. He was standing in the middle of the room, hurriedly putting on a shirt. I groaned, letting out a yawn and sat up on the bed while he spoke with someone through the mind link."What is it?" I asked, holding the duvet over my chest, realising we were in his room already. "We got an attack last night." He replied hurriedly as he sat on the bed to put on his shoes."What?" "Yes," He turned around to face me before adding. "All the victims died."I leaned back against the headboard, placing my palm over my mouth. How could that- I was utterly speechless."I have to go now." He left the room in a hurry, not even waiting to see if I had something to say or wanted to follow him. Anyways, I climbed down the bed gently, tightly holding the duvet around my chest since I was naked underneath it."Oh shit!" I cussed, stretching out my right hand in an effort to find something to hold on to when a strong wave of dizziness hit me. I grunted as I f
In a few minutes we arrived back at the pack house and I stepped out of the car, heading to the building in hurried steps. My brows knitted in confusion when I stepped into the empty living room, not even one of the workers sighted around. Shrugging it off, I headed up the stairs into the hallway.Heather and Taylor stood at the door of Bella's room, chattering noisily."What are you too doing here?" Heather flinched and turned around to face me, placing her hands on her chest in relief."Nothing!" She answered very sharply, crossing her hands behind her.I could easily sense she was hiding something, where's Bella by the way? "What is it, Heather?" She stood a step back when I took one, glancing at the door before staring up at me."Erm, nothing happened! Absolutely nothing! Everybody's fine!" Her voice came out as a yell this time around though and forcefully straightened her shoulders, staring up at me wide eyed.I walked past her to the door, trying to open the door which was lock
"Wow, that's great news." Even though I felt a bit of worry in me, I wasn't going to show them to Linda. Honestly, I feel this is the wrong time for that, having a baby in the middle of the chaos. Right when we have a war coming up soon. I already felt a little fear of not being able to protect Bella, and now with a baby? That would be really hard to do. But on the bright side, I'd have a child, a heir and I'm sure Bella would be happy about it. She must've probably known already. "Damien?" I pushed all thoughts from my head from Linda called. I realised she had been speaking to me, but I must've been so lost in thoughts to notice. "Hey, I understand how you feel but everything would definitely work out well. They would be fine." She patted my shoulders reassuringly with a smile on her face. "I have to go now, I'll pay a visit later." I only nodded in approval while she took one last glance at Bella before walking out of the room. Without a heavy sign I plopped down on the chair bes
Bella's POV "Street food?" He asked, his eyes holding so much surprise. What's the big deal about it? It seems even pretty easy and faster to me. "Yes." I replied, folding my arms with a pout. "Bella, you could just eat food prepared by the cook, not much difference." "No, I don't want them." I snapped, a frown already forming on my face. "Okay, okay, fine." He groaned out, palming his face. "Thanks." I squealed and hugged him almost immediately. I crossed my arms behind my back as we walked through the streets of the pack together, about half an hour later. "Thank you," I say to him, remembering the sweet taste of the food on my tongue. I do eat them a lot back at my pack, each time I sneak out of the house with Jane, she spends most of her money on them, and I grew to love them so much. That's one thing I miss about her, though she changed after finding her mate. But I'm over it already, I found mine also, we're pretty far away from each other now. She probably has a new frie
I opened my eyes when I heard a thud to see a brown wolf tumbling on the ground by my right side as Damien stood at my feet, visibly breathing out heavily. I looked around to see the other wolves already dead, trying to avoid Damien’s glare at me. What was he mad for? Without a word and not giving the last wolf any more time to launch an attack, Damien lunged at it, throwing several blows but snapping its head in the wrong direction and pulling out its heart. I hissed out in pain as blood gushed from my shoulders while I tried to stand up from the ground, which was nothing but a futile effort. “I told you to go.” I gasped when Damien suddenly lifted me from the ground, tossing me over his broad shoulders. “Damien!” I tried to wiggle out of his hold, my hair all over my face and my butt in the air, an almost upside-down position. “Put me down!” I yelled as he began walking back to the pack house. He gave me no reply as expected, his steps making me realize he was pretty angry. But wha
After a while I laid on the bed, putting the duvet over me to get a little rest, it wasn’t long until I slept off. It wasn’t until the next day that I woke up, quite surprising though but I shrugged it off, realizing it must be because of the pregnancy. I gently moved my arms, trying to see if I could feel any pain in my shoulders but there was none, curiously I moved to the mirror, slowly peeling off the bandage to see clear skin, not even a single scratch mark left. I see my healing abilities were improved already, might probably be another advantage of finally sealing the mating bond with Damien, no curse anymore, and higher healing abilities. A frown morphed on my face immediately after I remembered the incident with him yesterday. Seems he’s best at finding even the littlest ways to hurt me. I turned around and walked to the door immediately, trying to pull the knob open but much to my disappointment, it was still locked. I can’t believe he really locked me up here for so long. W
He pulled me into a hug immediately, wrapping his arms around my waist. "What do have to do today?" I mumbled against his chest, breathing in his fresh familiar scent I tried to push away before."Trying to know Hezekiah's next attack and be better prepared for it, or probably send an attack first." He replied, this time around a tired sigh in his voice. I don't think anyone would ever be ready for war."I could help you know? I get good ideas sometimes, besides I'm Luna. You should learn to understand that." I spoke, looking up at him."Then we better start now, Lucas has been waiting for me already, to know our next move." "Is he in the house already?" I asked, disengaging from the hug."Yes, I told him to wait at the living room while I..." He scratched his head nervously, avoiding my gaze."Hmm." A smile formed on my lips and I hit his arm lightly, allowing a chuckle escape my lips. "Come on, let's go. It's not good to keep people waiting." He nodded and entangled my palm with hi
