Chapter 38: Going out for the first time

While Steve and Shane were still seated on the couch, Shane abruptly stood up as if he were going to leave the house.

"Where exactly are you planning on going?" Steve inquired.

"There has been no response to any of my attempts, to reach the person I need to speak with to check on Thomas when I call him. It's giving me the impression that there's something seriously wrong with him because he always answers the phone whenever I call." Shane answered while maintaining an anxious tone. He reached over to Steve's closet and grabbed one of the jackets, then wore it.

"Really? If this is the case, then perhaps something serious is going awry somewhere." Steve remarked before following his example and standing up. He proceeded to his closet and extracted a shirt from the racks there.

Shane was shocked when he witnessed his behaviour and couldn't believe it at first. Shane was taken aback by the fact that what Steve had just done demonstrated that he was also about to leave the house.
