Lyra is a weak Omega who has been forced into exile by her Alpha mate after her true identity of being a generational maid and courtesan (the fore-women/ancestors of her lineage were known to be maids) was put out. Unknown to her, she was already carrying the heirs of the Howl Valley Pack and sons of the wicked Alpha Maverick. Lyra finds shelter at an all rogue pack where she is constantly tormented by the leader of the group, Alerik. After having her twin sons, Arik, the ruthless rogue leader keeps forcing himself on her until she escaped with her pubs and into the arms of Alpha Viking, an old warrior with nothing left to his name after losing his only son and heir to a pegan war. Following the death of Alpha Viking, Lyra becomes the Viking Alpha, bestowing all powers into her. Years later, Alpha Maverick would come back seeking for Lyra after hearing rumors of her being a Viking Lord, and to claim his sons. But with his new interference in their lives, and the truth between reality and myth blurs, one thing is clear: a new future is uncertain.

Chapter 1

Vincenzo stood under the warm water. He was starting to relax. Then his phone rang. He sighed and turned off the water. He stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist. He walked over to the counter and picked up his phone.

"Giovanni," he answered.

"Vincenzo, it's time we discussed your future," his grandfather said.

Vincenzo's eyes narrowed. "What about my future?"

"You need to find a wife, Vincenzo," his grandfather said. "Someone who can give you an heir. It's time for you to settle down."

Vincenzo's jaw clenched. "I don't need a wife. I can handle the family business on my own."

Giovanni sighed. "Vincenzo, you promised me you would come to my 71st birthday party with your future wife."

Vincenzo's eyes flashed with annoyance. "I didn't promise you that. And even if I did, I'm not a child who can be forced into marriage."

As he argued with his grandfather, a face flashed in his mind — Camilla, his secretary. He quickly pushed the thought aside, remembering she was married.

Giovanni's voice turned cold. "Fine, Vincenzo. But know this: if you don't bring a wife to my birthday party, there will be consequences."

Vincenzo's grip on the phone tightened. "I'm not afraid of your consequences."

The call ended.

---

ONE WEEK LATER.

"And the deal is sealed," Jones said after Vincenzo signed the last page of the file. They both stood and shook hands.

"I hope for a better future with this deal," Vincenzo replied.

"And a better future we shall see," Jones replied, and Vincenzo hummed in reply. Jones glanced over Vincenzo's shoulder to see Camilla standing behind him; she looked bothered.

"Ms. Morris," Jones called, snapping her out of her thoughts. She faked a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

"That's all of it, see you later," Vincenzo said, without waiting for Jones's reply. He walked out of the boardroom with Camilla walking behind him.

"Secretary Morris," he called but got no reply. "Secretary Morris" — still nothing. He turned to face her, only to find her lost in thought. Camilla bumped into him and was immediately snapped out of her thoughts.

"B... b... Boss," she stuttered.

"You look lost, what's bothering you?" he asked, his tone laced with a hint of worry. Camilla raised an eyebrow; she wasn't familiar with this caring side of Vincenzo. He was usually strict and cold.

"I... I... I'm okay, Boss," she replied.

"You don't look fine," he countered, and continued his walk. "What's next on my schedule?" he asked, changing the topic.

"Hmm," Camilla hummed, and switched on her iPad while walking behind him. "Dinner with Lady Francesca, 7 p.m., outside of town at Dolla Hotel," she read.

"That is two hours from now. You can rest for those two hours before we leave for dinner," he said, and walked into his office, slamming the door in her face.

Camilla stood in utter shock; she couldn't utter a word.

Her boss, Vincenzo Leorando Torricelli, giving her a break? This was so unusual.

She sighed and immediately remembered her discussion with her neighbor. She walked to the assistant department, and the employees inside welcomed her with warm smiles.

"Hmm, can I ask? Where is Sophia?" she asked.

"She left a while ago; she said it was urgent and couldn't ignore it," the head of the department, Jacob, answered.

"Oh, what time exactly?" she questioned.

"About two hours ago," Jacob replied, and she nodded. "Any problem?" he asked.

"No, everything is fine, I just wanted to check on her," Camilla replied, and walked out of the department into her office.

Her panic was rising. If the photo her neighbor, Ms. Jenkins, sent her was true, she would kill Sophia herself.

For the past few weeks, she hadn't been available at home. She rarely saw her husband, Ryder. They mostly communicated by phone since she had the bigger, better-paying job and couldn't afford to lose it — she had to be at her boss's service twenty-four seven.

Her neighbor, Ms. Jenkins, had been reporting to her about seeing Ryder with another woman. She'd ignored Ms. Jenkins since she was an old lady who never liked Ryder. But when Ms. Jenkins sent her a photo of the person Ryder was kissing, it was her coworker, Sophia.

She didn't want to believe it, so she went to the assistant department to confirm — and even once confirmed, she still didn't want to believe it was true. Ryder and Sophia? It couldn't be possible; those were the two people closest to her.

She remembered how Sophia always advised her to leave Ryder, saying he wasn't a good match for her. Only for Sophia to be sleeping with him behind her back?

With shaky breath and shaky hands, she picked up her phone and called Ms. Jenkins.

"Ms. Jenkins, have you seen them leave the house?" she asked. When she got the answer she needed, she grabbed her jacket and threw it on. Without informing her boss she was leaving, she ran into the elevator.

---

Camilla drove roughly into her parking lot, hurriedly got out of her car, and exhaled.

She paused as she stepped onto her driveway. She just wanted to prove Ms. Jenkins's suspicion and the photo wrong — that was why she'd come here. She believed her husband would never cheat on her.

She walked to her front porch. She raised her arm to knock, but remembering she knew the passcode and it was her own home, she entered the code and opened the door as quietly as she could, trying not to make a sound. She closed it the same way.

The sight that met her almost made her collapse. Ryder's fingers were inside Sophia, moving up and down as he fingered her, kissing her neck while she moaned like the bitch she is.

Camilla stood numb for the first few minutes. With them still unaware of her presence, she called out.

"Ryder." Her voice was trembling but audible. It made both Ryder and Sophia flinch as they stared at her in shock, embarrassment, and surprise.

"C... ca... Camilla, I can explain," Ryder stuttered, removing his fingers from Sophia as she hid behind him.

"Explain what? You asshole," she barked, her eyes red as tears welled up, threatening to fall.

"It's not what you're thinking, this is all a misunderstanding," Ryder said as he moved away from Sophia, who covered herself with his suit jacket. She didn't look remorseful at all.

"Misunderstanding?" she asked, staring at Ryder in disbelief as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I loved you. I did everything I could to make you happy. What did you ever ask from me that I didn't offer? Was I not good enough for you? Or was it because I had a better job?" she threw the questions at him.

Sophia rolled her eyes in disgust, while Ryder's expression changed from remorseful to a sadistic smirk hanging on his lips. He let out a chuckle, the smirk turning into a smile.

"It took you so long to figure it out," he said, and a gasp escaped Camilla's lips as she tried to catch her breath. Never had she imagined a day like this would come.

"Me dating you from high school, our marriage — it was all a bet," Ryder explained. Camilla's eyes grew wide in shock.

"I never loved you, Camilla. I only got addicted to your pussy, and that's all. The reason I dated you in high school was because of a bet. You mean absolutely nothing to me," he added.

"You son of a bitch," Camilla cursed, tears pouring down her cheeks.

"Save it. I'm the only man who would bear to be with a woman like you. You think other men would want to be with a woman like you? A woman who puts her work first before everything. I'm certain you're having an affair with your boss, that's why you're always with him. So while you were having fun, I decided to have mine."

Slap!

Camilla cut him off with a slap. His head tilted to the side, and he chuckled while Sophia stared in shock. She rushed to Ryder and held his cheek, staring at his already-red skin, then turned to Camilla. She looked furious.

"How dare you? Are you out of your goddamn mind?" Sophia barked. Before she could raise her arm to slap Camilla, she received one instead, and fell to the ground with a heavy thud, twisting her ankle in the process. A scream left her lips.

"You bitch," she whimpered.

"How dare you touch her?" Ryder barked, and knelt beside Sophia, checking her twisted ankle. "Does it hurt?" he questioned.

"Yes. Ouch, don't touch it," she winced as he placed his hand on her ankle.

"You bitch, you see what you cost," he said, and stood up. He walked toward Camilla with the aim of beating her, but her next words made him stop.

"Touch me and go to jail," she said dryly. "I fucking dare you, asshole," she barked, her tone dripping with venom, hate, and disgust.

A bitter laugh left her lips when she saw how powerless he'd become.

"I never slept with my boss. We never did anything. He never kissed me or made any attempt to touch me. I kept myself for you — I chased away every man who came to me because of you, unfaithful bastard," she screamed, the hurt leaving her tone and expression, replaced with anger and hatred.

"I never wanted this job, I only took it because of your unfaithful ass, idiotic bastard. You made me work there, you told me I should put my work first because yours wasn't paying enough. I did everything for your ungrateful ass. Now I know why my brother and father never liked you. Ryder, they saw you from the start. They knew you could never be worth me, but I — I was the idiot falling madly in love with an idiot. Ryder, I made you. I gave you a life when you had nothing," she said, her eyes red with tears and anger.

"But you know what, I will get over you. No — I'm already over you. We've been married for five years, and I bet you know how easily I forget worthless things. And as for you, Sophia, the husband snatcher" — she turned to Sophia, who stared at her with surprise and fear. Sophia had never expected Camilla to speak up for herself; she'd always thought she was the meek one. But here she was, proving her wrong. Even Camilla herself was shocked by her own outburst, and Ryder was no less stunned. He looked shaken to his core.

"You are so stupid, you know why? I thought we were friends, but it seems we're enemies. Remember how you always made me feel like a useless wife, made me feel like I was never worth him? I guess you're happy now, really happy, because you'll be spending the rest of your miserable life suffering with a manipulative idiot like him. Let me tell you a secret — Ryder has a problem, you can't have a child together, because he can't get a woman pregnant," Camilla said. Ryder gasped; he knew what she'd said wasn't true. She only said it to scare Sophia, and it was working, because Sophia looked as if she'd been drenched in cold water.

"Have fun being together. I wish you well. You'll hear from my lawyer tomorrow — I want a divorce," she said, and with that, she walked out of the house, even with Ryder and Sophia cursing her.

As she reached the driveway, she let out the tears she'd been holding back. Even though she looked like she didn't care about Ryder, like she hated him, it was all an act. She'd loved Ryder till death, and he'd broken her heart into pieces like this without an ounce of remorse. She rested against her car and cried. Nothing hurts more than heartbreak.

And the fact that his love for her was never real — that part broke her the most. She got into the driver's seat and started crying. God, she hated seeing tears, but Ryder had made her shed her share.

She rested her head on the steering wheel and stayed like that, crying and sobbing. Her cries filled the whole car, and she stayed like that for over thirty minutes.

The ringing of her phone distracted her from crying. She pulled it out of her bag to decline it, only to see it was her boss, Vincenzo, calling.

She immediately answered the call, then wiped her tears as she placed the phone to her ear.

"Boss," she called, trying to sound okay.

"Where are you? Meet me at the company in an hour," he said, and ended the call before she could even speak.

She sighed as she pulled the phone from her ear and checked the time. Goodness, she'd never been late for anything involving work before, but here she was. She was already three hours late — he'd given her two hours, but she'd spent three. The meeting must have already ended.

She sighed again, started the car, and the engine roared to life. She drove onto the road. On her way to the company, she bought alcoholic drinks and drank while driving. Even knowing it was wrong, she drove drunk. She got an email from Vincenzo saying they had a trip to attend and she was to accompany him.

She parked her car in the underground garage and staggered to the elevator, which she took straight to the rooftop.

When she got there, she met Vincenzo's bodyguards standing outside the private jet, probably waiting for her.

They all stared at her with raised eyebrows as she staggered toward the jet. She got in, and they followed, closing the door behind her.

"Boss is waiting for you in the private lounge," one of the bodyguards said, staring at her with confusion as she walked toward the private lounge.

"Gosh, I'm in deep shit," she mumbled to herself, and opened the door.

Vincenzo was sitting on the bed shirtless, taking off his wristwatch like he was ready to take a bath.

She gulped as she stared at the sexy, attractive man in front of her. She bit her bottom lip until it started bleeding.

"If I lose my... job, then I lose it," she mumbled to herself, and started approaching him.

Vincenzo finally noticed her presence and glanced up. His piercing gaze landed on her, and he frowned at the way she was walking.

"Where the fuck—" Before he could complete his statement, she pushed him onto the bed and sat on top of him.

She lowered her upper body to his and whispered in his ear.

"Just once, boss. Once. Make me feel good, and I'll never ask you again," she whispered into his ear, and claimed his lips.
