Camille's POV

It had already been months since I started avoiding Conrad and his piercing, drop-dead stares.

Months of watching other newbies learn to shape-shift and master controlling their wolves.

Months of relentless practice, head-on.

Months of explaining that I was deviant and couldn’t participate in some exercises like the others. It was humiliating.

But I was also relieved there was no shadow from the past stalking me.

Today, I woke up with a blazing fever.

It was a clear sign that today wasn’t going to be my day.

Stress from long hours of practice and the exhaustion of late-night study sessions must have finally caught up with me.

Exams were just two days away.

I had prepared diligently.

I had so much to prove—to Dr. Skyla, to Alpha Vikron, who had saved my life, and most of all, to Father—the man who, in many ways, felt like, the chief of them all.

He had shown up the day after my sudden encounter with Conrad, intent on causing a scene.

I felt my neck hairs stan

Camille's POV Standing outside the pack's security gate, my hair fell loosely over my shoulders as I rose on my toes, peering back to see if Josh would suddenly appear. He had texted a few days before, but somehow I’d drowned that bit of information out. A long sigh escaped my throat as I remembered why I’d forgotten. My cheeks flushed, and a small, content smile crept across my lips. Then it hit me.A sudden wave of weakness. My pulse spiked, and my legs began to ache. I bent forward, dragging air through my mouth, trying to calm my racing heart.“Calm down,” I muttered, massaging my chest gently. This dizziness had begun two days after the forest incident with Alpha Vikron. The thought of him made my insides tinkle with excitement. At least one thing made felt right now — I knew where I stood with him.Turning my gaze back to the road, I remembered that Josh, who usually gave details about everything, had said very little this time. Only that his mother, Melinda, had requested to s

VikronHe pulled away, causing a frown that creased her face.“Why?”He knew she wanted him. He had caught the scent of her pheromones inside the hall, thick with desire, and confirmed it when their eyes met. Those cornflower-blue eyes were clouded with lust.Damn, he wanted her too.But everything scared him.Maybe he was moving too fast. He needed to slow things down. She was in heat. He knew it. After claiming her the way he did that night in the woods, he knew this would happen. He had sealed the mate bond with her there. In every way, he had allowed Calix to take her, to satisfy his craving until they were both spent. Now, staring into her eyes again, her desire matched his. He pulled away, shutting his eyes as he heard Calix growl for her inside.“It’s obvious you want me too, so why push the feelings away?” she said.“I don’t know.” His voice was hoarse with desire. He raked his fingers through his thick hair, fingers he wanted on her skin.“This isn’t what you need right now.”

Camille's POV Pissed? No… what I felt was worse than that. I was exasperated. Going into heat and having my pheromones scream at the mere sound of Alpha Vikron’s name, or his voice, or even the brush of his presence was pure torture. A week had passed since the forest incident, and suddenly, he’d ghosted me. He avoided my eyes, barely spoke, and when he did, his tone was clipped and distant. I wanted to smash something. No—someone. No matter how hard I tried to pretend I didn’t care, his silence hollowed me out. Maybe I had bad luck with men. Or maybe the gods had sent the Rawson brothers straight from the pit of hades to ruin me. I stood beside Skyla at the far end of the pack hall as Vikron took the stage from Beta Demuel, speaking about the latest border attacks. His voice rolled through the hall, steady, commanding, and it hit every nerve in my body. A week since the attacks began, and though he’d never admit it, I knew they had something to do with me. My

Melinda “I must confess,” Josh said, his tone laced with an edge Melinda could taste, “as disappointed as I was about your new identity, I was totally intrigued to find out about the coven.” She deserved it. But still, this was better. She preferred him talking, even in anger, to that week of heavy silence that had stood like a wall between them. “I’m so sorry,” she repeated, sitting across from him inside the Blue Moon Café, her hands clasped around a cup of untouched tea. She wished she could say those words a million times to undo what she's done. Josh leaned back in his seat, one leg stretched lazily beneath the table. “Why did you do it?” How she loathed that caught in the act cliché — it’s not what you think — yet that was exactly what she wanted to say. Instead, she sighed. “There’s no excuse for lying to you.” Better to own her mistake than dress it up in excuses. He nodded once, eyes unreadable. “I agree on that.” He was calm, too calm, the kind that only came when s

MelindaA soft knock sounded on the door. He wasn’t going to respond, and she knew that little fact all too well.“Josh... can I come in, please?”Grabbing the headphones from the green reading table beside his bed, he slipped them over his ears, trying to drown out Melinda’s voice. But it didn’t help. He couldn’t bear it. She had lied to him.“Josh, we can talk about this,” Melinda’s voice came again, as he bounced off the bed, opening the door abruptly, she had to move backHe walked past rushing down the stairs into the kitchen, as Melinda tailed behind“I don’t think there’s anything to talk about right now, Mother…” he said, turning so suddenly that Melinda almost collided with him. “No… Princess Melinda.” The word dripped from his tongue with mild disgust.Grabbing a drink from the freezer, he started towards the stairs"Josh"He stopped,Melinda stepped back, one foot finding the lower stair. “Josh, I know you’re hurt.”“Do you?” his voice was quiet but it burned.“You’re not m

Josh Some secrets must be protected at all costs. Secrets never to be spoken of or heard. Some secrets are far too sacred for words; for fear the wind might carry them away to the wrong ears. ************ Melinda sat in her usual old knitting chair, tucked at the fat corner of the dimly lit sitting room, her figure half swallowed by the dark. Her eyes moved faintly with the sound of footsteps from the porch as the door creaked open. Josh slipped inside, clicking the locks on the door quickly. “Where is she?” Melinda asked quietly, without looking up Josh startled, his keys nearly slipped from his hand as he turned to find her sitting there Mum?” he said, half whisper, half question. “I didn’t think you’d still be awake.” He blinked, eyes adjusting to the dim light, then reached for the switch on the wall. The bulb flickered to life, casting long, shadows across the room as he noticed the tension on Melinda's face. “I called you,” she said quietly. “You did?” Josh
