In a room as dark as night, Kallias stood in a corner waiting, watching. He didn't know what he was waiting for but he did, excitement flowing in him.His claws crept out and his fur protruded slowly. He continued waiting, his eyes dancing in the dark.Nothing came, and he couldn't see anything but he felt the need to wait. Then he heard a sound of the door opening and closing and he heard footsteps.A scent invaded his nose and his pulse quickened. The scent was like something burning mingling with cinnamon. He loved cinnamon. It was one of his favorite scents. Then he heard a voice screaming but he couldn't detect the words. Then silence. He growled. Then footsteps walked slowly towards him, the scent was getting stronger and he almost purred.Warmth surrounded him, drawing him into its embrace before he felt a body press against him.His pulse jumped and sensations drove through his body.He could feel the presence, the body but he couldn't see the face. He raised his hand and it m

Adriana's hands flew to the hand clamped over her mouth and her heart raced faster. The hand was firm on her mouth till she was dragged away from the back of the stables into a corner she hadn't seen before. The hand dropped from her lips and Mia surfaced.Adriana swirled around baring her fangs and claws ready to attack or defend herself but she stopped when she saw the person.“My Prince?" Adriana whispered hoarsely.“Shhh.” Marcus held a finger up to his lips and he stared behind her.Adriana turned but she didn't see anything and then she heard it.Voices and footsteps are coming their way. Her body stiffened until they walked past and then she turned and faced Marcus.Marcus looked down at her and gave her a light smile.Mia snarled.Calm down Mia, it's Marcus our friend. But Mia still snarled.Marcus watched as she struggled to slip her claws and he stepped forward but Adriana's head snapped up and she bared her fangs at him.She stepped back and shook her head.Mia!“Is your wo

“Prince Maxwell?”“Yes, he is the King's cousin and he wants you in his chamber tonight. Get ready and wait for me under that shed near the quarters’ entrance.” Miranda walked away before Adriana could say anything and Adriana clenched her hands. The other slaves had heard everything and they stared at her.Erica placed her hand on hers but Adriana stared straight ahead at the corner Miranda had taken.“Adriana…” Erica said quietly.Adriana's breath shuddered as she took a deep breath and turned away from them. She knew they all felt pity for her and she couldn't bear to look at them in the face. She entered the slave quarters and sat down on the cold floor. Her mind raced as she thought of what to do.****Maxwell closed his eyes as the warm water bubbled around him, relaxing the tension of the day's travel in his body. Two maids stood behind him, washing his back, and he felt their gentle hands brush against his skin.He would have chosen one to satisfy himself and his beast, but be

Adriana placed another snail shell she found on the ground into her basket and sighed. She was hungry. She hadn't eaten that morning, thinking she would be having lunch with Prince Marcus.”She saw another shell and bent down to place it into her basket. She felt eyes on her and she glanced around but didn't see anyone. She shrugged and turned a corner going back towards the kitchen. She saw the chefs murmuring when she came in.A maid approached her and whispered.“Lady Amelia's maid came back here with the Prince's tray. It was untouched.”Adriana didn't speak and she moved towards the counter placing the basket on it.She heard Greg sigh beside her but she didn't look at him.“It must have been a disaster.” Someone said.“It seems the Prince only eats when you serve him,” Greg said to her.Adriana's body stiffened and she shook her head. “I don't think it's because of me.”Greg studied her for a moment. “Before you came, the Prince had hardly finished his meal until now.”Adriana'

Adriana watched Lady Amelia and Leah walk out of the kitchen and her stomach cried in protest.Someone patted her shoulder, but she didn't move. She couldn't believe her days of having delicious food were over and she felt like weeping.“Are you sure the Prince will eat the food, Greg?” One of the chefs asked him and he sighed over the pot of chicken broth he was steaming.“She is going to be his wife so he has to.”A Chef scoffed. “They aren't even engaged yet.”Greg shrugged. “It doesn't matter. The king has approved their courtship and the delay is all on the Prince's part.”He glanced at Adriana who still stood fixated in her spot staring at the kitchen door.“Adriana.” He called out to her and she slowly turned to face him. He saw the sadness in her eyes and shook his head.“You have done your part, now come here and add more wood to the fire.”Adriana moved like someone whose last hope was crushed and Greg shook his head again.****Marcus shrugged out of the fourth robe he had
