~Valeria~

One blink and the guy I’d risked everything to chase had disappeared into nowhere like he was never really there to begin with.

I stood there, strained and annoyed, staring into the empty space like it owed me answers.

I wasn’t even mad that I didn’t catch him. I was mad because… I don’t know. It felt like I walked into a trap without even knowing it. Like he wanted me to follow. Like he was measuring how far I’d go for my foolish curiosity.

Whatever the case, I knew one thing, I couldn’t stay here sulking in the dark like a lost kitten. I had to go back.

By the time I made it back to the challenge grounds, the entire place looked like a different world.

Did I miss something? I sure did and I hated that it could have been the most interesting part.

The chaos? Non-existent. The bruises? Healed. The petty

~Valeria~The battle kicked off and Alerion's sword went straight through some remnant's chest, blood spraying everywhere, but then another one came out of nowhere with a wolfsbane dagger and sliced his arm.Black veins started spreading from the cut immediately, crawling up his arm like evil spider webs."ALERION!" I screamed, already moving toward him without thinking.

  • Fated to my 4 bully Stepbrothers   Chapter 122

~Valeria~On the night of full moon, I witnessed wolves gathered all around the altar. I was standing dead center of the altar, Mom right next to me looking way calmer than I felt. Alerion was directly in front of me, hand on his sword like he expected someone to rush the altar any second. His eyes were doing that scanning thing where he checked every single person in the crowd, looking for threats that probably weren't even there.

~Valeria~Inside the safe house, Mom and I were basically squished into the corner like sardines, trying to stay out of the way while everything went to hell around us.Safe house. What a joke. Nothing about this is safe.Zane was standing in front of us like a human shield, his hand on his sword, eyes locked on the door like he could see through it.

~Valeria~In this small clearing in the forest, I was trying to practice channeling the Lunar Spirit Stone's power without blowing something up or passing out, when Zane came up behind me and dropped his jacket over my shoulders. Not like, gently placed it. Dropped it. Then yanked it tight around me like he was wrapping a burrito. The jacket was still warm from his body heat, whic

  • Fated to my 4 bully Stepbrothers   Chapter 118

~Valeria~Back at the base, I was sitting on the couch trying to read through the seal-breaking ritual steps, which was already giving me a headache because it was written in the most confusing way possible. I was squinting at a paragraph about "channeling lunar essence through bloodline conduits" when Alerion walked over holding what looked like battle plans. He sat down next to me, close enough that our legs touched and spread out this whole security map on the coffee table."I've got scouts posted around the entire perimeter," he said, all business. "During the ritual, you'll be in the center of the altar. I'll be directly in front of you. Nothing gets through."Before I could even respond, Zane came out of nowhere and literally wedged himself onto the couch next to me. Like full-on squeezed in until I was sandwiched between him and Alerion. Then he grabbed my hand and placed it on his arm."Don't listen to him," Zane said, shooting Alerion a look. "The altar's edge is where shit'
