You’d think after winning a huge competition and being publicly praised alongside the most sought-after guys in school and the werewolf kingdom, life would cut me some slack.

Yeah, no.

Turns out, life didn’t care if I stood on a podium or got cheered on by half the kingdom. Because the moment we got back from the social event, everything just… went from worse to pure hell.

And it didn’t even start small.

On Monday morning, I walked into class thinking maybe just maybe it’d be one of those lucky days where people ignored me. A few side-eyes and nasty whispers, I could handle that. I’d even prepared myself mentally for some petty glares.

But what I wasn’t prepared for… was the writing.

In bold red ink, scrawled across the top of my desk, were the ugliest words I’d ever seen in my life:

“The Queen of Pick Me is back... but this time, you won’t be picked. I’ll make sure you end up in the trash where you belong.”
