DAMON'S POV

I wake to silence.

Not complete silence.

The storm still breathes against the cabin walls in uneven bursts, and rain taps softly against the roof overhead.

But the fire is gone.

The warmth that had filled the cabin hours ago has long since burned itself into ash.

For a few seconds, I stay still on the floor beside the couch, staring up at the dark ceiling while exhaustion drags heavily through my body.

I hadn’t even known it was possible to fall asleep after everything that ha

I can tell Damon has always loved Michaela, and she has feelings for him too. I hope they stop fighting it and give in to the mate bond soon......

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    A boy

AVELINE'S POV When I opened my eyes again, Ezra was beside me. Her expression was tense, and there was something frightened in her eyes that made me immediately realize this was worse than I had thought. “You fainted.” I tried to sit up, but pain shot through me, and I immediately sank back down. My entire body felt as though it had become a battlefield, every muscle aching while heat and cold chased each other beneath my skin. A gasp escaped me, and Ezra watched helplessly for a moment before moving to help. I could see how badly she wanted to do something, anything, even though she had no idea what would actually help me. “Where is Philip?” I asked, partly because I needed the distraction and partly because I knew that if Philip found out about this, he might tell Sirus. As Sirus's Beta, he had every reason to believe something this serious should reach his Alpha. I didn't agree with that. I bit down hard on my lower lip until I tasted copper. • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    My secret

AVELINE'S POVAt first, I blamed the exhaustion I experienced in the days following our return to the pack house on everything that had happened in the Wilds. It made sense, at least at first. I had barely slept during the time I spent with Nereth there that afternoon, and even after returning to the pack house, my mind refused to settle. Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered the creatures, the arrow buried in Nereth's chest, the look in his eyes when Sirus pulled me away from him. I told myself that my body was simply paying the price for everything it had endured. Then came the hunger. It wasn't ordinary hunger. It arrived suddenly and fiercely, leaving me feeling hollow no matter how much I ate. I could finish breakfast and feel hungry again before midday, then eat lunch only to find my stomach empty barely an hour later. Sometimes I ate until I felt uncomfortably full, only for the emptiness to return soon afterward. It was as though there was a space inside me that food could

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    Reality changes

AVELINE'S POVIt took me longer than it should have to register Sirus's next words.“Who is he?”I opened my mouth, but before I could answer, Stephen spoke from behind me.“Nereth.”Sirus's jaw tightened. “Nereth what?”Stephen didn't answer. He didn't know.Sirus's gaze returned to me, and I hesitated because only then did I realize something that made my stomach twist. I didn't know either. I didn't know his surname. I didn't know where he came from, what he truly was, or what secrets he had buried beneath that calm exterior. I only knew the name he had given me, the name I'd repeated so many times in my head that it felt strange to realize how little I actually knew about the man behind it.“Nereth,” I repeated quietly. The name sounded different now.Less like a name belonging to the man I'd spent the last two months falling for and more like a piece of evidence I had no idea how to explain.Sirus studied my face for a moment, and something in his expression changed. His eyes nar

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    An arrow

AVELINE'S POV “What?” I asked, frowning. “I've tried.” He swallowed, his gaze drifting somewhere beyond me. “More times than I can count. I've tried to leave this place more times than I have in the last hundred years.” My breath caught. “Hundred years?” His eyes returned to mine, and something about the way he looked at me made me realize he hadn't misspoken. But before I could ask, he continued. “Every time I thought I could. Every time I convinced myself that perhaps this time would be different.” His voice dropped. “It never was.” I stared at him. “Then we'll figure it out.” “Its not that easy.” “You say that because you've given up” I said, desperate. “I wouldn't.” A faint, almost sorrowful smile touched his lips. “You have no idea what choosing me will cost you.” “Then let me decide if I'm willing to pay the price.” His expression tightened. “You say that now.” He shook his head. “There will come a time when you're tired of this isolati

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    What I am

AVELINE'S POVFor several seconds, Nereth said nothing. He shook his head again, but I kept my palm against his cheek, unwilling to let him look away from me.“Nereth...” I tried again when he didn't say anything.“I know,” he cut me off before I could say more.“You know what?”“I know you are willing to listen.”His voice was barely audible.“That is what makes this so much harder,” he said as he gently took my wrist and lowered my hand.I couldn't help the overwhelming wave of pain that coursed through me at the gesture, and I had to blink several times to stop my eyes from making the situation even more embarrassing than it already was.It was such a small thing. His hand around my wrist. The quiet removal of my palm from his cheek. The deliberate distance he created between us.Yet somehow, it hurt more than if he'd simply shouted at me.“I can't do this to you, Aveline.”For a few seconds, neither of us spoke. The silence around us seemed to grow heavier. Stephen remained quiet

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    Desire

When our lips meet, every form of reasoning obliterates. My mind combust into electric sensations. He growls, taking control of the kiss. Mouth claiming mine with the urgency of a collapsing star. Heat pours between us, reckless and blinding. When my lips part, it isn't an invitation. It’s ine

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    Stupid Alpha Aura

After saying goodbye to Bailey, I head towards rehearsals, feet practically bouncing in anticipation. I weave between stalls, the hum of pre-festival chatter around me, but stop short when I see him — leaning against the edge of the square, half-shifted, green eyes glinting under the lanterns.

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    A Spectacle of My Own Making

The first time I saw the Tule Dance, I was seven. I fell in love with the performance immediately and wanted to participate the very next year. Mum said I was too young and not yet developed enough, so I waited. When I turned twelve, I asked again. After a lot of begging and convincing, I was al

  • Fated to my Alpha nemesis    Something about a dead rat

Scanning my wardrobe for a few seconds, I choose a crimson-colored tube top and a short pleated skirt. I smile at my reflection in the mirror after putting it on. I apply mascara, eyeliner, pink gloss, then pull my hair up into a messy bun. Sitting on my bed, I slip on my favorite pair of black s
