CHAPTER ONE

 MIRA

 "How do I look?"

"Lucky," Sharon's voice reminded me of where I came from.

I was standing in front of the mirror. The mirror hung on a single nail in a corner of a dimly lit, sparsely furnished room. The mirror's surface is cloudy and streaked, reflecting a distorted image of the bare, peeling walls and the worn, creaky floorboards. The frame, once ornate, now hung crooked and faded, its gilded edges chipped and worn away. The mirror seemed to lean wearily against the wall, as if it too had given up on the surroundings.

My presence in front of the mirror was supposed to brighten up the place. But, the background still looked as pale as ever. Did I just say pale? I asked myself as I racked my head for the best word to describe it.

"Poor," Sharon's voice was heard again.

It was as though she read my thoughts. That was the word I was searching for. The exact words. Everything in front of the mirror screamed poverty, including myself.

"You shouldn't go into that party looking this way, Mira. What if you embarrass the alpha in front of his guest."

My cheeks flushed red at the mention of the alpha. I was in love with him. Helplessly, I had fallen for him like a fool. I was lucky to be mated to the alpha of the Black wolf pack. He didn't even see me as a weak omega. Just like others did.

"I wish I had a better dress to wear to the party," I said sadly as I looked down at myself.

"You should have accepted the dress from the alpha. "

I shook my head. I had explained to Sharon countless times that I didn't need to make alpha Lesley feel like I was there for the money and status. I wanted him to know that I genuinely loved him.

"I can't believe we would finally make our relationship public," I said, trying to change the topic.

Sharon walked closer to me and adjusted the collar of my already fading brown simple gown.

"I told you he would announce you as his mate at the right time. The right time is finally here."

I slowly took my eyes to the clock. I had less than thirty minutes to get to the alpha's house.

"I need to be on my way now."

I pecked Sharon before jumping out of the house. My heart skipped beats as I strolled to the alpha's house. I had never been to a party before. I wondered how it would feel like.

I was smiling sheepishly as I slowly drifted back to a week ago. I had bumped into the alpha and offered to do his laundry. Upon returning it, he grabbed my hands and pulled me into his small room.

The alpha brothers had a room in the school where only them and their friends were allowed to enter.

"I notice the way you stare at me, little omega," he had said, making my heart jump.

He pulled me closer when I was unable to say a word. That was when my heart began to beat rapidly, and I heard my wolf whisper... 'mate.'

Before I could think about what was going on, I was already lying on the small couch and moaning helplessly as the alpha thrusted in and out of me. My eyes rolled until only the whites were seen.

Alpha Lesley was huge, and it was my first time. He knew this fact, so he went gentle on me. But I could only say that for our first and second sex. In a week, the alpha and I had had sex more than four times already.

"Hey!" A deep commanding voice stopped me on my track.

I was brought back to reality. I looked around and realised that I was standing in front of the transcending mansion. I gulped as I took in the sight of the huge man standing by the door.

 "Orchins are not welcomed here."

I pulled out the card that was handed to me by alpha Lesley and handed it over to him. He stared down at me as though I was a piece of rag. After a while, he pointed towards the door, and I walked in.

"If I dare hear anything about you, little monk, I'll throw you in the dungeon."

I pretended that he wasn't referring to me and hastened my feet towards the main party hall. Everywhere was litted up. The chandeliers lay high in the ceiling, and everything about the building screamed wealth.

I searched the entire room for my fated, and I could not find him. I felt someone grab my shoulder, and I almost felt my heart jump out of its place. I quickly turned around to see a gorgeous looking girl of about my age standing behind me.

"What in the hell are the maids doing roaming about the party hall?" She asked before covering her nose.

I lifted my arm to smell myself. I was obviously not smelling. In fact, I had used Sharon's perfume before leaving the house.

"I am not a mate," I replied, smiling slightly. "I am the alpha's fated mate. He invited me."

The girl burst out in laughter, and everyone around turned to look at me at almost the same time. Everyone else looked elegant aside me. I gulped down hard on my saliva and folded my fist.

Everyone else joined in the laughter. It soon died down as alpha Jasper walked up to the stage.

"Alpha Lesley is on his way here," he announced.

I turned from the younger brother of alpha Lesley to the narrow door by the corner of the hall. Everyone else was staring towards that angle. Alpha Lesely suddenly walked out through the narrow door. He was fully dressed, and his blonde hair was well combed and shaped in style to a side of his face.

He was dressed in black pants and red top that hugged him, exposing his huge masculine chest.

A young girl was walking with her hand locked in his arms. She was dressed in a red dress and gold heels. As the two walked out together, I felt my heart shifting in my chest. It could not be what I was thinking. Even though our relationship was private, alpha Lesley and I spent the whole week showering so much love on each other. He loved me, too.

"Oh, the weak omega is here!" He mocked.

He slowly grabbed my hands and pulled me up the stage, letting go of the other lady. Her lips were blood red, and her hair was black and long.

"So boys!" The alpha began, his voice thick with pride. "I won the bet."

There was an uproar in the crowd as everyone began to murmur among themselves. I could see alpha Lesley's friends laughing in a corner while his younger brother stared at us with his eyes wide open.

"She's cheap. I bet none of you saw that coming. I fucked her five times in a row in just a week. She didn't even say no on the first attempt. You all thought she's a week omega, and so she's mean to guys and so naive. She's a virgin Mary who knows nothing."

"What's going on?" I managed to whisper to alpha Lesley.

My legs began to shake in fear. My whole body trembled, and my palms began to sweat. I stared at my hands, being locked with alpha Lesley's as I prayed for this to be a dream.

I wanted to wake up and see that it was a dream. My throat and eyes went dry immediately. I could not bring myself to cry. I lacked the tears, too.

The girls were already laughing while the boys booed.

"I... I thought you loved me," I asked alpha Lesley, whispering in pain.

"I know," he responded, still filled with so much pride. "And that's why you're dumb, cheap, and stupid. How can I love an omega?"

I saw my whole world crumbling in front of me. I blinked thrice to absurb the pain in my eyes.

"I, Alpha Lesley Browns, reject you," he paused and looked down at me, belittling me again. "What's your name?"

"Mira," I replied weakly. "Mira Samson."

"Reject you, Mira Sampson, as my mate."

I gulped down hard and tightened my fist. I would no longer take this. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me, but it wouldn't. I gathered all the energy I had. I wanted to leave there as soon as I could.

"I Mira Sampson, reject you, Alpha Lesley brown as my mate."

A grin curved out on his lips as I said the words. I felt the whole world crumbling as I ran off the scene as fast as my legs could carry.

I felt cold tringles all over my body, and my whole body suddenly began to vibrate from the cold. I looked down at myself. I had come here to get introduced finally as tye alpha's mate, only to get humiliated and rejected. I wanted to run home quickly so I wouldn't freeze under the cold weather, but I realised that my feet began to freeze first. I neither came out with a bag, nor did I even have money to board a cab. I had trekked all the way here, hoping that alpha Lesley would drop me off after the party. I wrapped my arm around my body and began to walk towards the thick, high gate that guarded the mansion. My whole body was shaking terribly, I could not understand what was going on. "Mira," I heard a familiar voice sing my name. I turned around to see Alpha Lesley's younger brother standing there. I was still moving. I realised that someone was carrying me when I felt his broad shoulders. I leaned towards him and buried my head on his chest as hot tears began to flow freely down my eyes. I could feel my lips shaking as the tears I had pilled up since thus whole drama started began to flood my eyes. My eyes were hurting from how hot the tears were. Soon, the body stopped moving and dropped me to the floor. I could see now. It was a little bit dark out there, but I could see slightly. I felt completely empty. Of course, my wolf, Shilo, was gone. I still could not believe it. I began to sob again. Jeremy pulled me close and hugged me tightly. He had saved me and carried me out of the hall. "I am so sorry you had to go through all of that in the hands of my brother." I sniffled

The screeching sound from the table wasn't pleasant to my ears. I gritted my teeth as much as I could to release the anger I felt in my system. "Alpha Lesley, you have to calm down. " I turned to Ramon angrily. How could he easily say I should calm down? The pack was under attack, and everything was going bizarre, and he expected me to calm down? "They attacked again yesterday," I spoke with rage. "They took our women and men again! They took children!" "We have one of them. Let's make him spill their hideout." I hissed loudly. "We have totured him enough, and he's not speaking. I wonder why Alpha Martin wants us to still keep him alive." Ramon was quiet for a while. He was the pack's only surviving beta over the years. He was closer to me than the rest of my brothers. Jeremy sho

"A place has been secured for yourself and your daughter. My limousine would be coming to pick you up soon." The message read. I scoffed, already knowing who the message was from. So he really didn't remember me. And he was still as selfish and wicked as he used to be then. He never changed even one bit. At the thought of that, sharp pain swept through my entire body, making my face turn white. But this time around, it was not out of agony like anyone would think. It was out of anger and the burning urge for revenge. I was holding tightly onto the side of the couch in exasperated breath when my five year old daughter walked up to me. "Mum, I think I've got something in my eyes." The innocent velvety voice floated into my ears. I turned my eyes to look at the lad in front of me, h

I didn't want to reveal too much to them yet. The only reason I came here was to wipe the entire pack. I had no business whatsoever with being anyone mate or whatever. "Jeremy. I can not accept the mate bond. I am wolfless, and I feel nothing." Jeremy smirked as he got even closer. I could hear my heart pounding more terribly this time. I tried to control the pace I was breathing since it was giving out too much, but I could not. I was out of control of that. "You and I know very well that you're trying to lie to me. But it wouldn't work. You can lie to me but not yourself. Yes, you lost your wolf, but then..." "Jeremy!" I cut in sharply before he would finish what he had to say. He leaned away from me and sighed deeply. I also exhaled deeply, thinking that he was finally letting me go. He fac

CHAPTER SEVENALPHA LESLEY I could hear the commotion from outside. I already knew that the fetish woman had arrived. I walked towards my window and peeped to see her alighting from the car. My heart melted at the sight of her shoe as she stuck her right leg out of the car after the driver opened the door for her to go in. She walked out of the car, and her eyes glowed like the morning sun. I gulped down hard on my saliva. Her beauty melted my heart. I turned to my table to grab my phone and call the maid that had been assigned to take care of her on her arrival. Before I grabbed my phone, the maid walked into the scene. I smiled inwardly. I stood by the window watching her with a racing heart. The woman was a beauty to behold, and something kept drawing me towards her. After a while of standing by the window unconsciously, a knock on my door interrupted my thoughts. I walked towards the door and opened it. My messenger was standing outside the door. He bowed in front of me. "The

After everything he did to me, I still let him get that close to me. I was a coward. The first thing I noticed as I rushed into my room was my daughter sleeping peacefully at a side of the huge bed that was prepared for us. I gasped when I noticed another masculine shadow in my room. I was about to scream when he grabbed me and covered my mouth. Thoughts ran through my head. I almost thought it was a serial killer, and I wondered how he got into my room. My eyes slowly drifted back to my daughter, and my heart skipped as I thought of something silly. "Was she even sleeping?" I questioned my heart. As though everything was happening so fast, I felt my back touch the wall. The hands were slowly slipping away from my lips, and I was going to scream once I got the opportunity to. I walked towards my bed and sat there as I wrapped my hands around my body. The tough woman I trained to be for years was gradually becoming weak. I was slowly catching feelings for Jeremy even though I knew that it was wrong. I shouldn't be catching feelings for him because he was a Brown. Not only that, he was also the twin brother of my former mate. How would it balance? I was scared of loving him. What if he was also just trying to get into my pants like his brother did some years ago? What if this was also a bet? Tears dropped down my cheek, and I quickly wiped it off. He had called the brothers in there immediately as soon as they gathered for the training. "I wonder why you let things get to this extent without calling me to tell me." Martin was spitting fire. He had been scolding Lesley ever since he walked into the room. Lesley just stood at a spot with both hands behind his back. His head was bowed. "How did you even let things get this bad?" Martin turned away from Lesley and faced Jeremy now. It was time for Jeremy to get his own taste of the medicine. "And you!" He accused him as he approached him with a fierce tone. Her sudden question about us kissing left me speechless. I didn't have any reply to the question that she had just asked. Celia burst out in laughter and tapped my shoulder playfully. I stopped by the door and placed my ear close to the window to listen in on their conversation. "We have tried different means and got played several times. What makes them think we will trust this woman? What makes her different from others who have played us in the past?" "I don't think I want to be fooled by anyone else. We should not become so desperate that we begin to look and act very miserable. As miserable as our problems." The other Elders quickly agreed with him. It was pointless trying to convince them. My brother and the eldest among the alpha brothers would return today, and a banquet is being prepared to honour him and welcome him back to the palace. He had been on a trip for almost a year, and he was finally coming back to the palace. Jeremy inspected the preparation of Martin's room and the arrangement of the rest of the house. I made sure new flowers were bought the previous day and placed them in the right places in the house. A few arrangements had been made the previous night. I kept checking my wrist for the time. I felt peace in the wind. I had agreed to meet Sharon, the Oracle, tomorrow. Jeremy had promised to accompany me, but what she agreed on hung over my shoulders like the weight of a storm cloud. A soft knock sounded at my door disrupting my thoughts. Of course it was Jeremy. He stepped in before I could even respond. His presence filled the room with so much energy and I couldn't deny the fact that he was the alpha. Though I tried resisting his power for so long. I knew I just couldn't keep the distance between us forever. “You haven’t given me an answer,” Jeremy reminded me as he stepped closer towards me, crossing his arms the room. They had disrespected me again, doubting my abilities despite everything I had done to show them as proof. I let out a shaky breath, pausing with a shirt clenched tightly in her hands. I could hear their voices in her mind, the murmurs of doubt that had followed her throughout her entire career. "She's too young. Too naive. Not ready to take on real responsibilities" it didn't matter how many times I'd proven myself, how many battles i had fought and won in their name. It was a large hall, one that always made us feel as if we were walking into an ancient arena, the weight of past traditions pressing down on my shoulders. But tonight was different. I wasn’t here to adhere to protocol or be tied down by their rules. I was here go get us a need for survival. Jeremy was right. The time for waiting has finally come to an end, and if the Elders couldn’t see the urgency of the situation, then I would make them see it. Wether they like it or not. As we approached the grand entrance, two guards stepped aside, recognizing Jeremy and I. They opened the doors, and our footsteps echoed through the hall as we entered. The chamber was dimly lit, with tall, iron-wrought windows letting in the faint glow of the moon. At the far end of the room sat the Elder, head of the council of werewolves and supernatural beings. The elder was an imposing figure

The debris of our house was strewn all around me, and blood marked the fields where my troops had fallen. A menacing reminder of the night's destruction, the omegas homes were in ruins. I dabbed at my perspiration and bloody brow, attempting to contain the growing wave of annoyance and rage that was about to overflow. This was a shattering blow to the strength and morale of the pack, not merely a battle lost. For what purpose? Because of the Elders’ stubbornness? The sun had long been set, casting a light golden glow over the pack’s headquarters. The urgency of the situation weighed heavily on my shoulders, and the Elders council, seated before me, seemed maddeningly indifferent to the crisis. For what felt like an eternity, I had been trying to negotiate with them, desperate to convince them to let Mira, the fetish woman, begin her work immediately. The stakes were too high for their hesitance. Standing in front of the Elders, I fought to keep my voice calm, but annoyance lingered just beneath the surface. “We should have been informed earlier, in detail, about her role in this before bringing her here,” one of the Elders said, a tall, imposing man with grey hair his stern expression unwavering. “We don’t make such decisions rashly. It’s an act of betrayal, Lesley—you went behind our backs by bringing her here.” I cl
