Chapter 24

ANGEL

The last thing that I remembered was falling into oblivion while being whipped. I was in too much pain to believe that I was dead.

I opened my eyes, but I quickly realized that I was in the middle of a vision of the past because I saw my mother. She was sitting on a hotel bed and rubbing her swollen stomach. This had to have been after she had escaped.

“I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to make life easier on us. I have to keep moving as long as I can because he won’t stop looking for us.
