LORI’S POV

My breath caught in my throat. I turned sharply to look at the Lycan King, leaning back against the table to create some space between us.

“That’s…” I stuttered, “that’s impossible. My parents—”

“One was an omega and one a regular wolf.” he waved his hand in dismissal, “It’s either one of them lied about their true identity or you, little wolf, are not their biological child.”

I was dizzy. My body was growing hot and I couldn’t think straight. My parents had lied to me?

“Whoa, Lorenza,” the Lycan King was closer now. I hadn’t noticed when he’d reached me. He was close enough that his scent enveloped me. His hand wrapped around my waist to steady me. I hadn't even realized that my legs had given way under me and he had caught me.

My head ached and I couldn't focus on the fact that he had called me my name. “I’m sorry, I just… I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” I replied.

“You’re in shock,” he said, leading me to take a seat. He crouched down in front of me. His eyes softened and for a moment, I thought that I could see past the ruthless King that he was. “I guess I shouldn't have sprung that information on you so suddenly.” He looked up then as Emilia walked into the room. “Get Lorenza a glass of juice.”

She glanced at me briefly, wondering why the Lycan King was crouched on one knee in front of me. But, she immediately bowed and left.

“It’s all so confusing.” I admitted. “And unbelievable. It makes no sense.”

“I’m sure it doesn’t.” The Lycan King stretched to his full height, walking back to the table. I kept my eyes on him. I couldn't notice how effortlessly flawless he looked.

“Why is there an old painting of me?” I asked, looking back at the desk where I had left the piece of paper.

“Technically, that’s a painting of Queen Serene’s descendant, Lady Aurora.” the Lycan King replied.

I glanced at the table with the photo. “This doesn’t make any sense.” I said. “How does this make any sense?”

“It’s a little like rebirth.” The Lycan King said as Emilia returned with a glass of juice. I took it from her and she left. “The goddess gives a part of herself to a certain bloodline.”

“So what? I'm the moon goddess?” I asked in complete disbelief. Me? The girl who can’t shift, the one with barely any gifts, or friends. It was impossible.

The Lycan King smirked. “In a way, little wolf, you are.” he replied.

I drank the juice, downing the entire thing before I met those dark eyes. “So what next?” I asked. “What does this mean for me?”

“That’s the fun part, Lorenza.” My name, again. I didn’t know which I hated more, him calling my name or calling me Little wolf. I wasn't going to admit that I loved both. “We’re going to discover it together. Because although there’s books about what you are, there’s nothing about how you become, what you do. The ball is in your literal court.”

I mulled over it for a while. “So, we?” I asked again, “we’re going to figure it out? Together?”

The Lycan King let out a sigh as he packed up the book. He wrapped it with a red string and then placed it in his drawer. I knew that he was keeping it there on purpose. He knew I'd be curious to go through it so, he kept it where I could see.

“You ask the obvious questions. Of course, it's you and I. I already let all of Agerna, and beyond, find out that you're my mate. I am going to keep this information as a well guarded secret between us.” The Lycan King replied. “I suggest you do the same.”

“Why?” I asked, standing to my feet as he began to walk away.

“Because a wolf like you can mean many things, can bring many emotions. The strongest of which is hope… and fear. Fear makes even the harmless of men do the scariest of things.” I swallowed standing in place as he explained. He grabbed the door handle. “If anyone finds out, you’re as good as a walking target.”

When he left, I couldn’t help but notice that somehow; the room was a lot colder.

Our last conversation was the longest that I and the Lycan King ever had since we came to this city. It was either he was too busy, or he answered me with sounds, or he would tell someone, “Help Lorenza out with whatever it is that she needs. I do not have the time.” or, he blatantly ignores me.

Either way, I hated it and I hated him. I hated this penthouse and I hated that I was playing dress up every day for a King who wouldn't even look at me properly.

I decided then. If I was already in the human realm, I needed to see what it was like. I wasn’t just going to be a carefully guarded secret.

I was going to sneak out.

LORI’S POVI staggered backwards looking at my hands. There were claws. My fingers had turned to claws. Somehow, my anger had awakened my wolf.I looked up at the Lycan King then and my vision began to dot black. I felt myself loosing consciousness. Before I knew it, arms were around me. I hadn’t even heard the footsteps.“Don’t worry, I’ve got you.” A soothing voice said before the darkness enveloped me.When I opened my eyes again, I was in my bedroom and someone was standing by my bedside.“Hello, Lady Lorenza,” She said, a smile on her face.“Emilia, you’re back,” I said, sitting up. I smiled back at her. “And you’re okay. You are okay, right?” I searched her body for anything. Maybe wounds from being tortured or beaten? I didn’t know.“All thanks to you.” She said, genuinely. She felt so much kinder and warmer in this moment. “Thank you for standing up for me. You don’t know how much that means.”“I’m just glad you’re back. I don’t think anyone knows how to boss me around and dis

LORI’S POVI felt the air between us shift. It was dangerously predatorial. He wouldn’t attack me, would he? But, I was stubborn. I would never back down without a fight.“You better not have done anything to her.” I said, keeping the anger in my voice. He had a wolf but I was his mate. Surely, it would be like a sin to the moon goddess for him to lay even a finger on me. And I didn’t think the Lycan King was that kind of person.“Again, what if I have?” He asked, his voice devoid of any emotion. I couldn’t even tell what he was thinking.Had he really killed Emilia and didn’t feel any remorse? Was that what this was?“She was only helping me because I asked. You keep me locked up in here like some prisoner —” “Tell me, Lorenza,” the Lycan King cut me off, “what exactly were you before I decided to save you?”I bit my lips and glared at him. Sure, I was a prisoner but that was in Agerna. I’d been banished from Agerna. I wasn’t a prisoner here.“I’m not a prisoner,” I said as calmly a

  • Fated to the Ruthless Lycan King   Chapter Eleven

LORI’S POVI blinked at her genuinely surprised. Never in my days did I think that the Lycan King would date someone. Strangely, I felt betrayed.I had to remind myself that I was just his mate. He had a life before he met me and he would have a life after he met me. I just wished that the ‘life’ wouldn’t show up in the house I stayed in.Evangeline eyed me, accessing me. I could tell that she was a wolf and she was also accessing me. When she finalized that I was harmless, she said, “Don’t just stare at me. Make yourself useful. Where is the Lycan King?”My mad flashed back to the kiss that Damon and I had shared. Why would he have kissed me if he already had a girlfriend?“Are you deaf or something? I asked a question.” Evangeline said.Just then, the door opposite us opened and Emilia walked through. The moment she saw me, her eyes widened. “Lady Lorenza.” She called in relief as she hurried towards me. “You’re awake.”She looked at Evangeline, finally noticing her. “Oh Miss Evange

  • Fated to the Ruthless Lycan King   Chapter Ten

LORI’S POVI changed my mind. I would rather die than be indebted to the Lycan King.“What?” I replied, gripping the covers even tighter to shield myself from him.“You have to take off your clothes, Lorenza.” The Lycan King said, sounding like he didn't like repeating himself.“I… I can’t.” Maybe it was better to die than for the Lycan King to see me naked.“Lorenza…” The Lycan King called, “You’re dying.”“Then so be it.” I replied.“Don’t be such a prude. I’m not going to do anything to you. I’ve seen a lot more women and you have nothing to be worried about.” he said, approaching me.“That doesn’t make feel any better.” I retorted. I couldn’t fight him off when he hooked his hand under my knees and lifted me. “Put me down.”“You’re stubborn.” The Lycan King ignored my request and took me to the bathroom. He dumped me inside the tub. “You have three minutes to take off your clothes or I’ll do it for you.”I bit my lip. He wasn’t joking. “Turn around.” I said. He sighed but did as I

LORI’S POV I watched him carefully, trying to ascertain if he was any harm. “Look, I don’t even know who you are but honestly, I don’t think I care.” I said, “All I’m going to ask for is that you don’t let yourself into my room like that. Ever.”The corner of one side of his lips tugged upward. “We’re getting off on the wrong foot. How about we do this all over again?” He asked. He walked towards me, stopping a few feet away. He held out his hand, “Hi, I’m Caleb. I’m Elijah’s Beta.”Caleb. I studied his eyes and then stepped forward, taking his hand firmly in mine and shaking him. “Nice to meet you, Caleb.” I said, even though I wasn’t so sure.“I know you might have painted a picture of me in your head but I can assure you that I’m just a friendly face.” He replied.“Why do you keep saying Elijah?” I asked the one question bothering me.“Ah, that. You probably know him as Damon, the Lycan King. But when you grow up next to him, like me, it’s hard to forget what you’re used to. Altho

LORI’S POV:I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand. Emilia was already pale and I couldn't hear her breathing. We turned slowly at the same time. There he was, in all his glory. As usual, he was wearing mostly black. The sleeves of his black button down was specked with gold. His hair that always looked wet, was combed back. He looked regal and so formal. It was hard not to stare at him. Especially with the mate bond tugging me towards him. I was spending almost every waking hour trying to quench the feeling of mad attraction I felt towards him.I noticed the younger man standing next to him. He was as chiseled as the Lycan King, a few inches taller. And equally good looking. He had blond hair and wore no frame glasses. He watched me with a look that I thought was humour.I wondered who he was.“Emilia,” the Lycan King called. He passed the brown folder he was holding to the other attractive man. “What is she doing outside the penthouse?”“I-” Emilia stuttered, unable to find a
