Evelyn's POV

"In the name of the lycan kings, I demand you open this door!" a thick, fiercely piercing voice yelled.

"We are working on the order of the lycan king; open the door, or we will break it!" The voice was louder, laced with dominance.

I took a quick glance at Rita, fear equipped in our minds, confusion wrapped around our hearts.

I felt my lungs suffocating. What am I going to do now? My only source of escape depended on Rita. She turned to me and wrapped my hands around hers while the door was continuously banging.

It was almost at the point of breaking open.

Rita shut her eyes tightly, whispering some things I couldn't understand, and immediately, a fog of smoke began to emerge again!

This time, I wasn't scared; I needed to escape badly. I can't get discovered!

As the fog became intense, the surroundings were shrouded in thick black fog, and slowly, we landed forcefully on the floor as I rolled, unable to stop due to the pressure.

Evelyn pov"Is that your house?" I pointed towards a shabby wooden house placed at the center of the desert. He ignored me nonchalantly and continued walking, as if no one existed.I glared at Rita, jittery, and she blinked in assurance. I inhaled deeply and followed the identical stranger like a lost sheep following its master blindly. We walked for several minutes and finally halted at the entrance of the old, shabby wooden door. He stuck his hands into the satchel bag that was crossed over his shoulder and brought out a bunch of keys, which jingled as his hands moved swiftly against them, searching for the right key. Suddenly, I felt the ground shake beneath my feet; my heartbeat increased as the rumbling stopped. Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me, and suddenly a wave of sand gushed through the air as I staggered. "What is that?" I yelled, trying to hold my stamina, squinting my eyes firmly as the dust from the sand blurred the air like fog."It's Scylla! She's comin

"Who are you?" a strange, thick, chilling voice asked.I felt glued to the sand as chills ran down my spine like a dam; his cold voice was enough to prick goosebumps off my skin."Who are you?" he repeated in a warning tone, clearly stating for us to spill the beans. My throat felt an imaginary grip as I managed to swirl up; along with Rita, I slowly diverted to take a peek at the person, and immediately my blood drained. I felt my muscles tense; speechless, I couldn't speak or move.Behold, I was told by the lycan king; his cold, icy blue eyes bore into me, confusingly. The lycan king? What was he doing here? How did he figure me out? I took a slow, meticulous step backward, dust thriving out from my legs as I slowly fastened the pace.He furrowed his eyebrows slightly, his expression gleaming with confusion."I asked again; Who are you and what are you doing in my desert?" His cold voice was sharp and threatening.Wait, what? Did I hear him correctly? His desert? Wait, what's going

Emily huddled on the couch, trying to process the dreadful information passed by Maddena. She felt her soul break at every tick of the clock. "This can't be real! My daughter can't be caught up in this mess. How come?" Emily questioned, her hands trembling as she scrunched the fabric of her dress for support, her eyes moving worriedly like a clock.Maddena sighed, staring at Emily pitifully. "We have no one to blame, Emily. It's her fate. She's more like a living curse, and it has already been decided that she will die."Her words immediately sliced through Emily like a fang as she stood up hastily, tears welling up in her eyes. "What do you mean by she will die? Please stop saying that! I beg of you!" Emily yelled, her voice choked with hurt. She watched Evelyn grow like her daughter; the thought of Evelyn dying blazed through her heart like a wildfire.Maddena stared blankly at Emily's state and parted her lips. "Emily, you shouldn't weep; at least she isn't dead yet." Maddena rolle

Lillian POVI shut my eyes firmly, roaming my heart through the earth, searching for Evelyn, my missing mate. I clenched my jaw tightly, frustration wrapping around my soul like a serpent. I couldn't process her; I couldn't find her. There was some force blocking us apart.I snapped my eyes open, feeling a rusty, sour liquid rising from my throat. I brought my hands to my lips and immediately knitted my eyebrows together. Blood? My body was reacting to the force I used in searching for her. I had exhausted my powers. I ran my hands through my soft white hair, my expression cold and deadly. The hall was equipped with silence, hollower than a grave, as everyone feared to cross my wrath. My mind immediately swirled back to Simon's speech, and I instantly scoffed coldly.Maddena? A witch? I have no desire to cross paths with a witch; I despise them with all my heart. Simon never ceases to amaze me, does he? Him coming up with that idea means he must have been crossing paths with her. Evelyn's POVI suddenly felt a warm, delicate hand on my shoulder, yanking me out of the trance. My breath heaved as I fell powerlessly to the floor, my body dropping with a thud, kicking up dust from the ground. I felt my soul haze, sensing my strength being yanked from my body, my heart beating in a confused rhythm. "Are you okay?" Rita's hands hovered around me helplessly, her tone raised with concern. I responded with silence, trying to process the perplexing dilemma. What on Earth? What does she mean by "I should be careful"? Careful from whom? Am I getting attached to some people I shouldn't? Questions flowed through me like a broken dam as I sank into deep thoughts, unable to hear Rita's voice or feel her touch. I was hollow, craving one thing... ANSWERS.."EVELYN," Rita yelled fiercely at me, making me flinch up in frenzy, staring at her in dismay. Her voice was horrifying; it wasn't that sweet, warm, delicate voice that yelled. This was something dangerous, shielding a dar
