Kane

For the past ten minutes, Delilah has been practising her kicks on the tree. The sun set an hour ago, and it's already dark down here in the woods.

Delilah is skilled but lacks strength in her movements. With her current condition, any werewolf with minimal training can beat her in a fight. She's omega-level strong, or even less than that.

I stand up from the tree stump I've been sitting on. "Let's call it a day."

Delilah shakes her head. "No, I'm not satisfied with my training for today."

"You can continue tomorrow. It's not safe for you to be out here at this hour."

She stops and turns to me with an eye roll. "You don't have to stay here with me if you don't want to."

"Considering the situation of things, you can't be out here on your own. Let's go inside."

She lets out a sigh, finally agreeing as she follows me back to my quarters. Nora attends to her needs for the night while I handle issues regarding the pack's security.

After calling for Ezekiel, I go in to get a shower

  • Fated to the war general    60. Testing The Waters

Delilah's POVVivian pushes open the door with a squeal, and we all peer into the house. The place is shrouded in darkness, and we can barely see anything. "Let's go inside," she says and moves in.We follow her sceptically as she leads us to the oracle. First, we pass through a dark, old-fashioned kitchen, then proceed to a small passage with a staircase in front. She leads us confidently up the stairs to a hallway with rooms connecting it. She moves down to the end of the hallway. At the right is a red door. She opens it with ease, revealing a staircase leading down into a dark area.Cecile and I exchange fearful glances before continuing down the stairs. Vivian moves in and we follow her apprehensively. The place is cold and dark and there's a sound of dripping water coming from it.We come down the stairs, following Vivian's slow pace. At the base of the steps, my leg comes in contact with something wet and cold. "Water?" I whisper to the general. He looks equally surprised. Vi

  • Fated to the war general    59. Portal access

Delilah's POVStreaks of sunlight filter into the room through the small gaps in the worn-out curtain. Everywhere is absolutely silent save for the sound of General Kane's breathing as he sleeps with one of his hands draped over my body.If everything goes as planned General Kane will return to Avalon today. If the condition improves, he will come back to take me and Cecile with him.Although I'm scared. I can't stay in the human world, but what happens after I return to Avalon? Everyone in that country must see me as a fugitive now. Will I continue the rest of my life on the run from the Ultima? What does he want from me anyways?"What's bothering my pretty angel this morning?"I look down to meet Kane's gaze. He is just waking up."Why are you frowning? What's the matter?"Sighing, I stand up from the bed and put on my clothes."Nothing is the matter. Let's get ready for your departure," I reply and start moving towards the room door."Hey, hey..." he rushes up to me and holds my ha

  • Fated to the war general    58. Farewell Kiss

Delilah's POVThere's nothing good about this plan. Everything is going to fall apart. I know it. As long as Alpha Enzo and the head oracle are working together, General Kane cannot return to Avalon, at least not right now.I follow him into the same room and lock the door behind me."You can't go back now.""Don't worry, I'm going to come back for you. We're in this together.""No, that's not the point. You just can't return. The portal isn't safe with the head oracle involved. I've seen the crazy things she can do. She took my powers away."He walks up to me and places two hands on my shoulders. "Relax, Delilah. Vivian said she has a way so let's just see what she comes up with, okay?"He pulls me closer to himself into a warm embrace. This whole plan is unsettling but I will try to have some faith in it."Come, lie with me," General Kane says, leading me to his bed.I follow him and an idea comes to my mind. I push him down to sit on the bed, and his eyes light up as he looks at me

  • Fated to the war general    57. Crack In The Glass

Delilah's POV The sight of blood drives us into an immediate state of alarm. "Vivian!" Cecile and I exclaim together and rush upstairs to check on her. We don't find her in her room so we walk around the house shouting her name. I move outside flashing the torch from my phone down the street. "Do you think it's safe to do that?" Kane asks. I immediately turn off the light anxiously."Where could she be?" I mutter underneath my breath. A scream sounds from the house. Kane and I share apprehensive glances before rushing back to the house, where Cecile is still doing her search. We meet her in the living room. "Did you hear that sound?" I ask and she nods. We all proceed upstairs to where more noises are coming from. On getting to the particular room where everything is originating from, we stop in our tracks and look in confusion. Vivian is holding a large bucket of red paint and is just beginning to paint a room we all thought was locked. "Vivian?" I call out to her but she h

  • Fated to the war general    56. Reducing the tension

Delilah's POVJake insists on causing trouble whenever we meet. I don't understand what he wants from me. "I showed you this spot, and you don't even allow us to have a moment here together before you start inviting others to it.""Jake, I can explain.""Explain what? I am already seeing you here with him. I've seen everything. Or do you want to try and change my mind?"I'm about to speak when Kane steps forward, extending his hand towards Jake for a handshake. "I believe proper introductions will resolve this misunderstanding. Nice to meet you, I'm Kane."Jake looks at him in disgust. He turns around without accepting the handshake and walks away angrily."Jake! Jake!" I call out to him but he doesn't answer. Kane turns and faces me with raised eyebrows. "Okay, what was that?" He asks, laughing.I let out a sigh as he walks up to me. There's nothing good about this. I wonder what he's going to tell Denise now. He didn't even let me explain. He must see me as a liar because I told D

  • Fated to the war general    55. I'm The Key

Delilah's POV "This man, tell me more about him," I say to Vivian. She puts forth both her hands towards me. "I will. But for now, you just have to find a way to stop the glass from freezing." "How do I do that?" I ask, almost getting frustrated. "Just concentrate on your warlock side. Try to harness that fire within. You can do it." "No I cannot. I don't even know how to control my powers." "Stop being lazy about this!" Vivian commands. "I'm not being lazy!" I say in my defence. "If you put in the much-needed effort, you'd be able to do this. Why aren't you even trying?" "Don't say that! Do you think I haven't been trying my best to get us out of here? How will I harm the orb if I badly want it to work?" I say in rage. The anger burns through my mind as I look at Vivian. "Why are you treating me like I'm the problem here? I've not done anything wrong."I glare at Vivian ready to flare up again. She looks at me, wide-eyed, and her gaze diverts to the orb on the table. A whit
