"Oh! We're here!" Kira exclaimed. "I have orders that the Fire clan guards, and I are to withdraw a way and leave you with your own men to send your magical message to your father. His majesty felt it would be wrong for us to intrude since magic is so sacred. We won't be too far though so just yell my name when you're finished and ready to head back!"

I must have looked like I had been stricken dumb as I watched her and the fire guards retreat. I couldn't believe what she had just said. Sure, clan specific magic was sacred, but no captor in the history of ever had left their captive without a guard from the captor's clan.

"It's clear your highness." Came the voice of one of my own men, shaking me from my stupor. "We could run if you wish your highness, just say the word."
