Chapter 1

ผู้เขียน: Moore
I was tricked into leaving the pack by Raeya Wargan. She told me the Moonbeam Grass that one of my dads, Aidan Rafe, needed could only be found deep within the forest.

"If you pick the Moonbeam Grass yourself and give it to him, he'll surely love you again!"

I wanted Aidan's love so badly that, even knowing how dangerous the forest was, I followed her without hesitation. But I never expected her hatred for me to run that deep.

Using the cross my dad, Maxim Ulfric, had given me, she covered it with silver powder and drove it through my limbs and pierced the last strike straight through my throat. Then, she flung my battered body into a Rogue's den.

"Loveta Senka, why do our dads love you best?"

She held up my cross necklace and grinned wickedly as she continued, "My mom died saving them, so I should be the Cinderhowl pack's most precious little princess! Tell me… Will they still love you if you're tainted?"

She yanked me by the collar and threw me into the thicket before the Rogue's den. As she turned to leave, she didn't forget to mock me.

"The forest's loneliest Rogue King lives here. He hasn't seen a she-wolf in years, so I'm sure he'll be thrilled to meet you. Enjoy!"

The noise we made seemed to stir the Rogue in his den as a low, warning growl echoed faintly from within the dark cave.

I struggled to crawl out of the thicket. The silver had ruined my enhanced healing ability, so blood kept gushing out of my wounds.

The metallic smell of blood seemed to drive the creature within the den wild.

Panic seized me, and I mustered all my strength to flee toward the edge of the forest. The roar behind me told me that I'd been targeted by the brutal Rogue King. And I, an underage she-wolf with injured limbs, could never outrun him at the peak of his power.

Through the mind-link, I reached out to Ethan Skoll, my second dad, for help.

Ethan was the strongest Beta warrior of the pack and led the forest patrol. If he gave his order, his men would save me within minutes.

But when I told him what had happened, he scoffed in disdain. "You still haven't dropped this habit of lying, Loveta. No pup leaves the pack without reporting, and the gate guards would never let you out. How could you possibly be alone in the forest?"

I panicked and quickly explained, "It was Raeya who snuck me out! She fooled the guards! We snuck out here because we wanted to—"

"Enough, Loveta! Why are you framing Raeya? Today's her coming-of-age ceremony, and we're all preparing for it.

"She's been busy since dawn, so how would she have the time to take you to the forest?"

My steps faltered as I stumbled to the ground.

It struck me that today was Raeya's coming-of-age ceremony, and mine was supposed to be tomorrow, but my dads seemed to have forgotten about it.

The ache in my chest drowned out even the pain from my wounds.

I remembered how, every year, my dads would shower me with the most exquisite gifts on my birthday and promise me the most unique gift on my coming-of-age ceremony.

"You'll be the happiest young lady in the entire Cinderhowl pack!"

Their doting words still seemed to ring in my ears as Ethan's roar came through the mind-link. "I don't have time for your games, Loveta. We're about to begin the prayer ritual for Raeya, so stop bothering me."

With that, he brutally severed our mind-link. No matter how many times I reached out with cries of help, I was met with no response.

The howls behind me grew louder. I was nearly overcome with despair when I spotted a patrol passing the distant forest's edge. I could even make out the patrollers' faint voices.

I tried to call out for help, but the silver had damaged my vocal cords and only allowed me to make weak, kitten-like noises.

Out of desperation, I sent another message to Ethan through the mind-link. "Please send your patrol into the forest, Ethan! I'm just 600 feet away from them!

"A Rogue is trying to hunt me down, so please tell them to save me!"

As I ran, I frantically waved my hands, knowing that I could be saved if just one of them looked my way. But that was when I heard the patrol leader answer a call.

"The Beta said to end patrol and head to the pack house to find his lying daughter.

"What a headache. Ms. Wargan's so gentle and well-behaved, so why can't that little liar learn from her?"

No! I was right here, not at the pack house!

My silent screams were to no avail. I could only watch as the patrol turned away and disappeared from my sight.

  • Favoritism Kills   Chapter 10

Maxim, Ethan, and Aidan gave me the most solemn funeral the pack had ever seen.At the edge of the forest, beside the rocky shore, they dug two deep, round graves. My corpse was gently gathered and laid to rest in one of them.Every pack member attended my funeral. Everyone was in shock after learning about my death."Dear me! Wasn't yesterday Loveta's coming-of-age ceremony? How could she be dead?"While everyone was grieving my death, Ethan dragged the disheveled Raeya forward and shoved her into the second grave. Then, he began burying her alive."Goodness! What's happening? Isn't that the Alpha's beloved adopted daughter?""Did Raeya kill Loveta? I can't believe it!"Ignoring their murmurs, Maxim howled as he performed my funeral ritual. When the funeral ended and the pack members began returning to pack grounds, Maxim, Ethan, and Aidan stood before my tombstone. They drew sharp silver daggers and plunged them into their bodies."Don't be afraid, Loveta. We're coming with

The three dads had never raised a pup before. For the first 15 years, they only spoiled me and gave me anything I wanted.Everything changed after they adopted Raeya. The moment they heard I'd picked on her, their first thought wasn't to question the truth of the story, but to doubt their parenting methods."We've treated Loveta too well. She's grown selfish and isn't willing to share with anyone else.""This can't go on, and we can't keep spoiling her. Before she comes of age, we must discipline her."So, they stripped my privileges and gave them to Raeya. In doing so, they fed the hunger they had created."Damn it! How could the lowly daughter of a housekeeper cause the death of our cherished little princess?"Aidan's eyes were wide with fury, but before he could lash out at anyone, a patroller timidly stepped forward."Mr. Rafe, I received your instructions to deliver the potions yesterday, but Ms. Wargan offered to deliver the vials for me and took them away. I thought about

"Raeya, is it true that Loveta fooled around with the two Dawson brothers?" Maxim suddenly asked, cutting through Raeya's crying.Taken aback, Raeya wasn't sure why he would suddenly ask that, but she nodded nervously. "I-I'm not saying the Dawson brothers are bad, but Loveta spends all her time with them. It doesn't look good—""But today, Oliver told me that both his sons have left for the northern plains, and they haven't been on pack grounds at all. When exactly did you see Loveta with them?"Maxim fixed Raeya with an unblinking stare as if to see through her lies. Her eyes flickered as she dropped her head, not daring to meet his eyes. "Maybe… I was mistaken. The young werewolves I saw weren't from the Dawson family after all—""How many more lies are you going to tell? Everything was fabricated! You framed Loveta, didn't you?" Ethan roared, suddenly grabbing Raeya by the collar and lifting her off the ground. An object fell from her pocket, clattering as it hit the floor w

My limbs had been gnawed to pieces. If not for the dress adorned with Moonbeam Stones, which Aidan had bought for me at last month's auction, none of them would have believed that I was the mangled flesh on the ground.Ethan fell to his knees with a heavy thud and clutched the shredded fabric tightly. "No… This isn't Loveta! This can't be her!"His eyes burned red, and the voice coming from his throat broke into small, helpless sobs.Maxim suddenly stepped forward and slammed his fist into Ethan's face. "This is all your fault! She came to you for help last night! Why didn't you believe her? "She said she saw the patrollers! If you hadn't reassigned them, she wouldn't be dead!"His growl cracked with hysteria, and Ethan was hovering on the brink of a breakdown, too. "What about you? Why did you reject her mind-link? If you'd listened to her explanation, she wouldn't have had to face that terrifying Rogue alone!"The two soon became entangled in a fight.Seemingly oblivious to t

The three dads spent the entire night rebuilding the ceremonial altar. Yet, due to the tight schedule, they could only use Raeya's coming-of-age ceremony decorations from the previous day. "Raeya used them yesterday, but I'm sure Loveta won't mind."Maxim nodded his head with quiet satisfaction. "Loveta has no idea we've prepared the coming-of-age ceremony for her, so she'll be so surprised."As the Alpha, Maxim sent out the coming-of-age ceremony invitations again. Pack members who'd attended the dinner party the day before woke up and returned to the ceremonial altar."What's going on? Wasn't Ms. Wargan's coming-of-age ceremony yesterday?""Today's Ms. Senka's coming-of-age ceremony. Their birthdays are just a day apart.""But the decorations are the same as yesterday's. Won't Ms. Senka mind?""I thought Loveta was the princess of the Cinderhowl pack, but maybe she's not as favored as Ms. Wargan."Looking at the identical decorations on the ceremonial altar, Raeya turned and

After the coming-of-age ceremony concluded and the celebration moved back to the pack house for the dinner party, Raeya suddenly turned to our three dads and said, "Maxim… Maybe we should cancel the dinner party tonight."Tears slid down her cheeks, and she was full of grievance.Maxim immediately pulled her into his arms in reassurance. "Why cancel it, Raeya? It's your coming-of-age ceremony, so we must host the dinner party.""But… Loveta doesn't seem happy. She told me that if we held the dinner party, she'd go home with the Dawson brothers and not come back tonight."Maxim's expression darkened with fury. "That ingrate! How dare she!"Ethan violently slammed his hand onto the desk and even looked like he was ready to rush out and pick a fight.Raeya quickly stopped him. "This is all my fault. The coming-of-age ceremony must've been too grand, and Loveta must've felt uncomfortable seeing it."She'd expected the three dads to continue berating me, but suddenly, they all fell s
