Chapter 2

Author: Forest Fire
"Anna…"

Adrian hurriedly walked into the tent with a huge flashlight in his hand. He reached his hand out toward Sienna when he saw her, hooking around her neck and pulling her right into his embrace.

His low, melodious voice sounded gentle. "I saw that the lights had all gone off. You've always been afraid of the dark. Did you get a fright?"

Adrian's familiar cedar scent enveloped Sienna. She felt her nose tingling and quickly made to shove him away.

Then, she said coldly, "I'm fine. I'm just having some PMS symptoms. It's cold out here in the tent. I want to go back now."

Adrian turned on the fairy lights in the tent, and the interior of the tent was bathed in a soft, warm glow once again. It was supposed to make things feel more romantic, but now, everything just felt like a slap in the face for Sienna.

The look in Adrian's eyes was deep and dark. "Don't you have a very important gift to give me?"

It would be Adrian's 27th birthday after midnight tonight.

Since Sienna had really gotten pregnant just as they wished, she had initially thought that this would be the biggest and most important gift that she could ever give him.

For the past two years, Adrian had been very thoughtful and accommodating to her when it came to making love. He didn't want her to suffer from the side effects of taking birth control, so he went and got his tubes tied instead.

However, she was the one who asked him to reverse the process because she wanted to get pregnant first so that her family would agree to let her marry him.

But now, it seemed that Adrian had never wanted to have kids with her at all. Yet, he'd still managed to play the part of the very loving and thoughtful boyfriend so well that he had her completely fooled.

Her gynae, Dr. Kent Jagersfeld, had just warned her during her checkup today that she probably shouldn't think about having sex in the first trimester of her pregnancy.

During the checkup, she learned that she was already five weeks along. And yet, she and Adrian had been going at it like rabbits every single night up until then. Sometimes, Adrian would even sleep with her multiple times in a night, but it hadn't seemed to have affected the babies.

And so, she had decided to indulge Adrian again tonight, just to satisfy him.

At least, he had kept his word and been gentler with her tonight.

He still didn't know that she was pregnant with his kids. If he found out, Sienna figured that she would already be bleeding out of her uterus by now.

She looked at Adrian, who suddenly looked like a stranger.

Adrian had been born into the richest and most powerful family in all of Wharf Bay, and he was also known to be very charming and handsome.

He stood tall at six feet two, and his facial features were all prominent and well-defined, with eyes as dark as the night sky. He was also known to be quite the playboy, so he somehow exuded a bad boy image that no doubt only added to his charm.

Unfortunately, hiding behind the perfect image was just a cruel, detestable heart after all.

Sienna no longer planned to tell Adrian about her pregnancy.

She had been looking forward to it. But now, since he didn't want them, she didn't want them anymore either.

She'd snuck here tonight, so she was planning to sneak back away as well.

She was worried that other people would know about their relationship, so she never appeared in public with him. Adrian had even half-joked that she must still think that he wasn't trying hard enough to prove his feelings for her, and it only made her want to give even more of herself to him.

She bet that Adrian had been secretly delighted and satisfied with her reaction at that.

"But I'm really tired. I really think that my PMS is acting up. I can't wait until midnight anymore. Can't I just give it to you tomorrow? Please?"

Adrian frowned.

Sienna knew why. Last year, she had also been sporting a high fever and feeling unwell on his birthday, but she still forced herself to stay up late until midnight so that she could be the first one to wish him and give him his birthday gift.

Her sudden change in attitude now would only make him suspicious of things. However, she wasn't too worried yet. The engagement banquet was weeks away, so Adrian would do anything to accommodate her requests so she'd stay with him.

Just as Sienna expected, Adrian quickly broke into a smile and endearingly tapped the tip of her nose, saying, "I see. I guess I'd been a little too inconsiderate of you. Young women like you have weaker bodies, so of course you can't put up with the cold in the tent. Let me take you back home."

"You don't have to. Your friends are all still out there."

Adrian hugged her and said, "You're always so secretive about everything. I'm really about to go crazy from all this torture."

Was he trying to comfort her again?

If Adrian wasn't the Humphrey family's heir, Sienna believed that he would make it as an award-winning actor instead.

Sienna chuckled softly and said, "It's just a month and a half more. I want to wait until the engagement banquet to finally reveal our relationship."

She bet that he would also be looking forward to the banquet in a few weeks. He would finally be able to destroy her, get revenge on Winona for rejecting him years back, and also tear down the Colton family.

Sienna would never allow him to do such things to her.

A tooth for a tooth, and an eye for an eye—she was going to use his same dirty tactics back on him, forcing him to really fall in love with her before abandoning him at the engagement banquet.

She would make him experience everything he put her through, and then some!

Adrian wanted to send Sienna back, but she refused. She had driven herself here tonight, and the car she took was a global limited edition Maserati that Adrian had gifted to her.

Sienna sat in her luxurious vehicle, a slow smirk creeping onto her lips.

This car was worth one and a half million dollars. Adrian had spent a fortune on her in his plan for revenge.

However, that wasn't surprising at all. He was a playboy, and he was also known for being very generous with his girlfriends. Every woman who had ever had a scandal or rumor with him never spoke a bad word about him. Instead, they simply kept singing his praises behind his back.

Sienna thought that Winona had probably been the only person who ever rejected him. Meanwhile, she was the one who had fallen the hardest into his trap.

Also, she simply didn't want to know who Adrian was really married to. She didn't even want to guess. None of these would have anything to do with her anymore.

Sienna started up the car and floored the gas pedal, shooting right out of the parking lot as the loud engine roared like an enraged tiger that shattered the silence and serenity of the night.

The car reached a turn in the road, and Sienna drifted perfectly around the corner before shooting off once more.

She simply couldn't stop herself from recalling the past when she'd met Adrian again for the second time.

Everything had to have been carefully orchestrated by Adrian from the start.

The pain festered in her chest. The only thing now that could numb the pain and suppress her emotions was the shuttling speed and roaring engine of her Maserati.

Sienna raced all the way back to Serracotta, a mansion that Adrian had bought and gifted to her. Even the letters making up "Serracotta" on the front of the gate were carefully inscribed in Adrian's neat calligraphy handwriting.

Adrian wasn't just a playboy who also happened to be a ruthless, affluent businessman. He was also very talented in the arts and creative fields, mastering skills like musical instruments, calligraphy, painting, and even chess, among others. These were the exact talents that had women falling left and right for him.

Sienna's phone suddenly began ringing. It was a call from Winona.

Sienna felt her eyes tingling with emotion. Winona had been the most rational one after all. Countless women had been swept off their feet by Adrian's charms, but Winona had been the only one who saw him as filth.

All of a sudden, Sienna felt a throbbing pain in her stomach.

She froze for a moment before answering the call.

"Anna! I'm coming to Wharf Bay tomorrow to meet up with an investor. I'll be arriving at the airport at 5:00 pm. Can you come and pick me up? We can go for dinner afterward."

"Okay," Sienna replied, feeling a lump in her throat.

Winona sounded concerned at once. "Did you catch a cold?"

"No. My nose just got stuffy because I was out in the night breeze."

"It's late. Don't go gallivanting all over town anymore and go home to bed. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye!"

"Winnie," Sienna suddenly said, calling out to Winona.

"Yeah?"

"Why do you hate Adrian Humphrey so much?"

She didn't want him to move the couch."How can I not? You gave them to me as a birthday gift, Anna. Anyway, it's just fallen under the couch. We can move it a bit and grab it," Adrian said.Sienna's heart raced. She didn't know what to do.Soon, the maids came in. Adrian pointed at the couch and said, "My cufflink rolled under the couch.
