Chapter 3

Author: Forest Fire
There was a bout of silence on the phone. Then, Winona's stern voice came forth.

"Why are you asking around about him? He's just a filthy bastard who doesn't deserve to even exist in your world at all. I know that you're in Wharf Bay now. If you ever catch sight of him, make sure that you always go the other way. You hear me?"

In other words, Winona hated Adrian very much, and there wasn't a single positive thing she said about him.

After ending the call, Sierra walked into Serracotta, feeling the pain in her belly intensify. She took out her prenatal test results from her bag, looking at the photo printed on the document showing two tiny implanted fetuses in her womb.

She had been so happy that she wanted to cry when she first learned about this.

But now, she really felt like crying.

Sienna set down her test results and bore with the pain in her stomach as she quickly packed up her suitcase, planning to leave Serracotta.

"Anna?"

Had Adrian come back?

Sienna quickly grabbed the prenatal test results and stuffed the documents under the couch.

Adrian walked into the master bedroom, seeing Sienna standing next to the couch with a suitcase behind her.

His handsome brows tugged into a tight frown. "Where are you going?"

Sienna stared at Adrian and pretended to sound concerned as she said in a faint voice, "My sister is coming over tomorrow."

A flash of emotion appeared very briefly in Adrian's eyes when Sienna talked about Winona.

Sienna thought that she wouldn't even have realized the flicker of emotion in his eyes if she had never overheard his friends' conversation just now.

Adrian took a step forward and pulled Sienna into his arms. "I'll get someone to help you pack. I'll also send you to the airport tomorrow. Don't leave tonight."

Sienna pushed Adrian away and suddenly felt another sharp pain in her stomach. She frowned hard and instinctively clutched her lower abdomen.

Adrian was still as caring and concerned about her as ever. He asked in a worried tone, "Does your stomach hurt?"

"I think I've just started my period. I need to use the toilet for a bit," Sienna said, quickly hurrying off.

Adrian's dark pupils narrowed slightly. Then, he went into the kitchen.

Sienna realized that she had bled a little when she was inside the toilet. She closed her eyes and sighed, recalling her doctor's words. She should have listened to him and not indulged Adrian earlier.

Still, it didn't matter anymore. She wasn't going to keep her babies, even if they were rare fraternal twins.

She grabbed a new pair of underwear from the storage basket she kept in the toilet, changed into it, and stuck a clean pad onto it before pulling it up. She also purposely threw the soiled, bloodied underwear into the trash can, making sure it was very easily found.

Adrian might have been a playboy, but he wasn't stupid. Conversely, he was extremely sharp. He would only truly believe that she was on her period if he saw it with his own eyes.

She wasn't going to let him know about her pregnancy.

Sienna walked out of the toilet just as Adrian walked back in with a mug on a tray.

He walked in so gracefully toward her that she found herself mesmerized. Indeed, she could tell that the gods were heavily in his favor when he was born.

Adrian's phone rang just then. He set down the tray and petted Sienna on the head. "I'm going out to answer a call. Drink up while it's still hot."

Every time Sienna was on her period, Adrian would always bring her warm mugs of hot chocolate to soothe her down, and that was more than enough to send her into grateful tears.

Now that she saw right through him, she wasn't going to be moved by any of his gestures anymore.

Sienna took the mug and dumped all of its contents into the pot of hyacinths on the window ledge.

She was just about to grab the prenatal test results from under the couch when Adrian returned to the room. So, she just grabbed the handle of her suitcase and said, "I'm leaving now, Rian."

Sienna still looked docile and obedient while addressing him, but her voice was noticeably colder and unnatural. This time, there was none of her usual reluctance to leave him.

Adrian went silent for a while. Then, he got up and said, "I'll get the suitcase for you."

He took the suitcase from her. Meanwhile, Sienna's gaze rested on the couch for a split second, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

She had never allowed the maids to do housekeeping in the master bedroom. So, there was a high chance that Adrian would probably not find the prenatal test results at all.

They walked out of the mansion. Sienna slipped into the driver's seat of the convertible sports car while Adrian reminded her to drive slowly and safely.

Sienna backed the car out of the driveway and left the mansion's premises.

She drove past the mansions in the residential area before speeding off toward the hospital instead.

Since she was bleeding, she had to undergo another checkup. Kent told her that it was nothing serious, and everything would be fine after an injection. Furthermore, she was to be more cautious in the future. Kent even told her off sternly for not listening to his advice earlier.

Yet, Sienna sounded very determined when she said, "I don't want this pregnancy anymore. Can I abort it right now?"

"Are you out of your mind? You're carrying twins! People would die to give birth to twins, and you're telling me that you actually don't want them?"

Of course, Sienna knew that she had been incredibly lucky to be pregnant with twins. But their father didn't want them, and he was only going to use them as one of his tools to further humiliate her and the Colton family.

It was impossible for her to give birth to Adrian's babies and bring them up in the world.

Kent kept trying to change Sienna's mind about the matter, but she didn't cave. She was still very firm about her decision.

In the end, Kent sighed in resignation and said, "If you must abort them, you'll still need to rest for a week after the procedure today. The post-surgery care is almost the same as after giving birth. There are a lot of things you need to be wary of…"

Kent then painstakingly walked Sienna through the entire abortion process and aftermath.

However, Sienna had to meet up with Winona tomorrow, so she couldn't afford to get the abortion done today.

So, the only thing she could do was to get the injection as Kent recommended to safeguard the babies' health. She would only then plan for the abortion after Winona had left.

After returning to her own apartment, Sienna went into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

She hadn't had time to take a shower after rolling in the sheets with Adrian earlier, and she still smelled distinctively of him down there.

Adrian knew a woman's heart like the back of his hand. More importantly, he also knew how to please his women.

After getting together with Sienna, Adrian once found her taking the morning-after pill after they did the deed.

The second time he caught her taking the pill again, he kissed her so deeply until he managed to fish the pill out of her mouth, telling her that morning-after pills had many harmful side effects. Instead, he assured her that he would get his tubes tied so that she wouldn't have to worry about getting pregnant anymore.

He had purposely showered her with overflowing love and care over the past two years, so much so that she eventually found herself drowning in them.

But now, the thought of it just made her want to throw up.

She crouched over the toilet bowl and began retching. She retched so much that she could feel the stomach acid burning in her throat.

Sienna ended up showering until late into the night.

She smelled exactly like her body wash, but she still felt filthy. She figured she could scrub her skin until it bled, but she would never be clean again.

Sienna called up her best friend, Rachel Westin, at around 2:00 am that night.

"Rach, what should I do to get a man to fall helplessly and irrevocably in love with me?"

"Anna, there have been hoards of men falling at your feet helplessly in love with you since you were a baby. Why are you so worried about this?"

Sienna had a petite, small frame, with flawless skin, dark, shiny hair, an hourglass figure, long eyelashes, and huge, watery doe eyes that sent men into a daze for days. Also, she was very docile and soft-spoken, making her the dream girl of almost every man's fantasy.

"He's not just any random man."

Rachel went quiet for a long time. Then, she finally said slowly, "Are you talking about Adrian Humphrey?"

Sienna and Rachel had been friends since they were still in diapers. And ever since then, Sienna had only ever had her eyes set on one man—Adrian Humphrey.

"Yeah."

"I thought you stopped liking him a long time ago."

Back when Sienna had still been a teenager, she had had a massive crush on Adrian for the longest time ever. She had been so enamored by him that after learning that Adrian was interested in racing bikes, she secretly learned to ride them too.

However, a short while later, Sienna suddenly announced that she didn't like him anymore, and she still never told Rachel the reason why.

"I just want him to fall hopelessly in love with me, but I won't love him back.'

"He's a playboy by nature. You won't be able to win him at his own game," Rachel said. "You're only going to end up getting eaten up by him in the end. It's simply not worth it at all."

But Sienna had already been eaten up by Adrian. Could there actually be anything worse than that?

She drew her lips in a firm line. "I know when to stop."

"At least tell me why."

Rachel and Sienna had been friends for a long time, but they were complete opposites of each other. Sienna was known for her innocence, docility, and top-notch mannerisms. Meanwhile, Rachel was the defiant, rebellious one.

And yet, with such drastically different personalities, Sienna and Rachel had a very tight bond that nobody else could ever break.

Sienna withheld her emotions. "Because he wants to destroy the Colton family."

"Destroy the Colton family?" Rachel echoed. "Forget about it. He'd only lose to Winona in the end. She's more than enough to crush him under her foot. There's absolutely no need for you to play the heroine and save the day instead."

"Rach, what do you mean by that?"

Rachel suddenly realized that she'd accidentally let slip some information. She quickly changed the topic. "Nothing. Winona is very smart and capable in the business world. Adrian can't destroy the Colton family as long as she's around."

Sienna tightened her grip on her phone. "You're hiding something from me."

Rachel had to know something that she didn't.
