With the cold breeze hitting harshly against her window, Charlene could barely get any sleep. The night was long and dawn was slow in coming. She had slept for what she believed was hours and had awakened, only to find out that it was just a little past midnight.It had been almost two hours and she had been unable to go back to sleep. The meeting at the Pentagon lasted till about four in the morning. By this time, everyone was already exhausted. While Lucille was obviously looking tired, Mark could barely keep his eyes open and Rufus didn't even try. Calvin was rounding up the meeting when they heard Rufus' snores. "Alright. It was night and under the bright moonlight, Phiri found herself atop a hill overlooking a very vast valley. The grass was soft under her feet and the breeze was in her hair. It was a beautiful place. She could hear distant chattering and when she looked into the valley, she saw people going about their lives.She wondered what they were all doing there. She could see no houses, no cars and she observed that these people were strangely dressed. Phiri was still trying to understand the scene before her when the moon suddenly darkened. She was going look up to see what had caused the sudden darkness when she witnessed the unimaginable.Like a heavy downpour, coals of fire fell from the sky, raining on the people that were in the valley. In horror, Phiri watched the people burn. If she was going to count, these people would number into hundreds. Probably a thousand, she guessed. She saw men, women and children covered up in flames. When Phiri was sure that the others were already awake, she finally left the room she had slept in and joined them at the lounge. The smell of food hit her nose as soon as she got there. The sun was already setting by the time it was six and the people were getting impatient. Adrian had managed to push his way through the crowd that he was now almost at the front. He did that because he needed to hear everything that would be said. With each passing second, Calvin could feel his wolf getting furious because of how the people were reacting. He managed to keep a calm front, knowing that it would be bad if he reacted. The situation was already bad as it was and he didn't want things to escalate further.Even as they stood before the people, the Pentagon were brainstorming.
