Chapter 9 - Mysterious Accident

Charlotte's mind is currently focused on Prince Gabriel's plane crash incident. Suddenly she remembered the important business that Mr. Alexander wanted to convey suddenly before his wedding day. What confused her was why Mr. Alexander had told him something important coincidentally the day before her wedding. Then, her mind turned to the plane footage which was a little strange to her.

Usually during this time, when she traveled with Prince Gabriel, in bad weather conditions the plane still functioned well. But somehow this plane incident happened the day before the wedding and when Mr Alexander wanted to convey something important to Prince Gabriel. Not daring to jump to conclusions beforehand, what is certain for her is that there is something really bothering her mind right now, so that it makes it difficult for her to sleep, not because she is thinking about the problem of grief.

The seconds continued, now it was midnight, Charlotte still couldn't fall asleep. Her eyes were too heavy to close, her body tossed and turned like a cake baked in an oven while with a thick blanket. After thinking long, she decided to get out of bed, take a sip of a glass of water that can refresh her mind so that it becomes clearer. When she took a sip of a glass of water, her hand suddenly fiddled with the glass, just as her mind was spinning.

Since her brain was starting to heat up now, she decided to text Violet to meet her tomorrow. The only person she could talk to about this matter was his best friend. There was no way he could tell her mother, afraid that she would think that her daughter was already under a lot of stress.

The next day, Violet came to Charlotte's residence with a gift for her. Before starting a serious conversation, the housekeeper brewed two cups of warm tea placed on the living room table. When the situation in the living room was now left for the two of them, Charlotte began to put on a serious face.

“Here are cookies for you to put your mind at ease. Usually whenever there's a problem, you always eat something sweet," Violet said, shifting the paper bag to Charlotte.

"Thank you, Violet," Charlotte replied, opening the paper bag.

“By the way, are you okay?”

"What do you mean?"

"It's a shame you asked me to meet here. Is it possible that your appetite has decreased again? Did you not sleep well last night because you kept thinking about your future husband?” Violet asked, starting to worry as she touched Charlotte's cheek.

"Not because of that."

"So what?"

Charlotte looked around her, furrowed her brows while moving her body closer to Violet, which made Violet a little nervous.

"What's really going on?" Violet asked, increasingly curious.

"Now I want to ask you, do you think the plane crash incident was a bad coincidence?" Charlotte started asking serious questions.

"Gosh, you're still thinking that's weird!" Violet cried, slapping her forehead.

"This time I'm serious about you. I'm tired of thinking weird things. Besides, you must also be very tired of hearing my heart pouring out all the time.”

"Then why are you still bringing up the plane crash again?" Violet narrowed her eyes suspiciously as she folded her arms across her chest.

"After I pondered this last night, it looks like the plane crash was someone's fault."

Hearing Charlotte's words just now, made Violet widen her eyes and shut Charlotte's mouth tightly while looking around in fear. Charlotte's hand immediately brushed away Violet's rough palm.

“Aish, why are you even covering my mouth! I'm not done talking yet!" Charlotte grumbled exhaling roughly.

“You just started saying something weird again. What's more, what you just said was very dangerous. If a member of the royal family hears, what will your fate be? Good thing it's in your own house," Violet joked, nagging her like a fussy mother.

“But just now I spoke according to reality. Think about it carefully! Why did Mr Alexander ask Gabriel to meet him before my wedding?”

"Hmm, maybe it's an emergency that Gabriel has to deal with first." Violet thought briefly, tilting her head.

“Alright, presume that your perception just now was correct. Then the second guess, usually when I travel with Gabriel even though the weather is bad, the plane's engine is not damaged. In addition, throughout history, royal planes have never had problems because they have carried out regular checks and maintenance before takeoff." Charlotte added a more detailed explanation to Violet, causing her to be confused now.

"Wait a moment! So you're saying that someone deliberately sabotaged the plane's engine before takeoff, am I right?” Violet's mouth opened wide.

"You could say that."

"But it could also be that the engine is old, so it suddenly breaks down while in flight."

“Before the plane took off, it was said that the engine still looked good and had no damage at all. If the engine was old, Gabriel would have boarded another plane for sure.”

"You're right, too. Then the plane crash was deliberately done because…”

Before she could finish speaking, Violet opened her mouth even more until her eyes widened.

“Something important that Mr. Alexander wants to convey has to do with the plane crash. The culprit knows the information faster than we do,” Charlotte said straight to the point while resting her chin.

"But who did it? Actually, what is the reason for causing a terrible accident? Then, is the culprit an insider?” Violet was confused to the point of asking a few questions.

“Regarding that, I have to investigate further. For the time being, no one should know about our discussion, not even our relatives or the King and Queen should know until there is accurate evidence. It's just a temporary perception of the two of us alone."

While on the other hand, the old man looked at the window pane looking at the beauty of the clear sky outside, while imagining the plane crash incident. A young man who was his personal assistant approached him.

"What should we do now?" asked the young man.

"With the loss of the Prince and his secretary, things have calmed down again."

"But what about the fiancé?"

"Judging from her character, her fiancé still doesn't know more about this matter."

"If she finds out, can I get rid of her?"

“Whether you want to get rid of her or kidnap her and torture her cruelly, I leave everything to you. What is certain is that no one should know about our plans now.”

"Okay sir."

“Hmm but if you think about it, Miss Charlotte is a woman with strong ambitions. Sooner or later she will surely know the truth.”

"Then what should I do with her? Should I drag her here and torture her until he cries for forgiveness?”

"We have to get her to shut up before she investigates any further." The old man sat in his soft chair leaning his back relaxed while closing his eyes.

Back again Charlotte and Violet were discussing something important in the living room. In the middle of the discussion, Charlotte opened the jar of cookies and tasted it deliciously.

"How does it feel?"

“Mmm of course I've always loved these cookies . You always buy it at a famous cookie shop, I'm sure I really enjoy it, even one jar is not enough for me," said Charlotte, busy eating cookies devouring like a greedy lion.

"Okay, then tomorrow I will bring a lot for you."

"Don't bring too much!" said Charlotte.

"So what? Don't you like cookies?"

"Aish, indeed you have to be taught a lesson once in a while!" Charlotte snapped, hitting Violet's arm with a bit of force.

"Ouch, it hurts!" Violet complained, rubbing Charlotte's arm after being hit.

"You really have the heart to make me gain weight and make my body ugly. Besides, do you want me to have diabetes?” continued Charlotte nagging her best friend.

"Hehe sorry, I didn't mean to make you fat."

"But if Gabriel gave me a lot, I would have accepted it immediately and wouldn't have protested like I did before."

Hearing that just now, Violet snorted in annoyance, narrowing her eyes as razor sharp as she looked at her best friend's jealousy.

“You favoritism! Indeed you prioritize Gabriel over your own friend!” Violet protested.

"Well, I was just kidding. Of course I treat you two equally. After all, Gabriel…”

Charlotte couldn't continue her words because it was very hard for her to think about her beautiful moments with her future husband. If you remember over time, he will cry again.

“Charlotte, don't be sad now. Didn't you say earlier that someone was trying to kill him?” Violet tried to calm Charlotte by tapping her shoulder rhythmically.

"Yeah, I used to think so before. But I still doubt it, what if my previous thoughts were something ridiculous?”

"But I think this does make a little sense. Everything looks odd even though this accident looks perfect, as if it was a pure accident, plus the bad weather.”

“I have to visit Mr. Alexander right now.”

"What? But isn't it quite a distance?"

“I have to know the real truth from him. Mr Alexander could be the key to all this trouble."

"But it's too soon to meet him, Charlotte."

Ding…dong…

Suddenly, the doorbell rang loudly.
