chapter 116

Nicole POV

All through training, I watched Polly kick her mate’s ass.

I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing. He’d get up, determined, only to be knocked flat on his back again. She didn’t go easy on hiM…. not even a little.

After training, I pulled Paul aside.

“I can’t hide this anymore,” I told him quietly. “I can’t keep pretending you’re not my mate. It’s killing me.”

It really was. Every night my wolf paced inside me, whining to be with him. To sleep beside h

chapter 119Lucas POVI knew this was too good to be true. For months, he hadn’t shown his face. He was waiting .. waiting until we believed he’d given up. But I never stopped watching. I never stopped preparing. I wasn’t a fool. Just last night, Kayla and I talked about it. We both knew he was coming. We just didn’t know when. We knew he’d try the tunnel first. Once he realized it was bricked up and sealed tight, he’d come through the woods. And that’s exactly what he did.He stood there talking like this was some kind of game while he sent two rogues to the castle for the child. A few minutes later, they came flying out of the nursery window. They didn’t even get a chance to shift. They hit the ground headfirst … dead. No screams. No struggle. I think they were already dead before they hit the earth.Jasmine had done her job.By the look on Barry’s face, he didn’t like that one bit.He sent two more. That’s when Bryce ran inside to back her up.Barry just kept talking like he had al

chapter 118Kayla POVThe next morning started like every other morning discipline, routine, and strength. We dressed before sunrise and headed outside to train. Hours passed in sweat and grit, broken only by water and bathroom breaks. After breakfast, we went right back at it. The visiting packs had decided to stay another week to learn our training style. They said they’d never seen warriors push like we did. That made me proud. But some of them were leaving tomorrow.I asked the cooks to prepare a full breakfast feast for those heading home…sausage, eggs, and pancakes stacked high. No one was leaving my kingdom hungry. Watching them laugh and eat together made my chest ache. I’d grown attached to them. They had become family. Still, home was calling them. After the meal and some rest, we prepared for the farewell gathering outside. Long tables were set up, bottles lined neatly, every drink imaginable waiting to be poured. Music played softly as warriors relaxed. Then the woods went

Chapter 117Barry POVI’ve waited long enough. They’re too guarded right now. Too alert. But tomorrow? Tomorrow I will catch them off guard. While they’re distracted fighting, my rogues will slip into the castle. They’ll grab the baby and bring her to me. Once I have the child, they’ll have no choice. Kayla will come to me. She’ll bow. She’ll reject Lucas and claim me as her mate.‘If she refuses?’“Then the child is mine. I’ll raise it. Train it. Shape it into a weapon. When it’s grown, it will slaughter every last member of her family — and everything will belong to me. Everything.I pulled out the photo I kept hidden. Kayla in the cage. Long dark hair. Brown eyes blazing with fury. She had fire in her then.Fire that belonged to me. The night dragged on. Sleep never came. By morning I was exhausted but wired with anticipation.Tomorrow will be their downfall. Outside, I trained with the others for hours despite the fatigue. We ate together in the dining hall afterward.“Boss, you l

Staying away from him was harder than I ever imagined. The war was supposed to come first. That was why I kept quiet. But it had been a month. A whole month of waiting for that asshole to make a move…and nothing. No sign. No attack. Just constant tension and looking over our shoulders.I couldn’t do it anymore. That evening we were all in the living room waiting for Polly to come down. When she finally did, she looked around for anywhere to sit except beside her mate. I wan

Chapter 115Selena POV We were all in training today, and something told me that my daughters had found their mates. They just hadn’t told us yet.I knew my girls.Nicole wanted her mate, but she had doubts. Both of them believed that once they found their mates, they would lose their freedom … that they wouldn’t be able to go where they wanted, fight, train, or live the way they always had. But that wasn’t true.I stopped training for a while because I wanted to learn the paperwork and how to handle things around the pack. They watched me change, but I didn’t change for my mate. Axel wouldn’t have allowed that. He pushed me to keep training, but he also trained me to handle pack business …. paperwork, computers, leadership.I do not arrange flowers. I hate doing that. We have people who handle that beautifully. We also have party planners because I am terrible at planning events. Decorating? Sure. Planning? Absolutely not.I knew Nicole had found her mate. I also knew they had marke

Chapter 114Josh POVNow it was my turn.I rolled my shoulders once, loosening up, but my eyes never left her. She stood there in her stance, chin lifted, defiant as ever. Goddess, she was beautiful when she was fired up.She thinks I’m going to cage her, I thought. She has no idea I’d build her a battlefield if that’s what she wanted“Ready?” I asked, my voice lower than I meant it to be. She narrowed her eyes. “I was born ready.” Lucas barked from the side, “Attacker…go!”I didn’t rush her. That’s what most warriors would do…charge, overpower, dominate. I circled instead. Slow. Measured. Watching her footwork. She tracked me perfectly, adjusting every step.Good. I lunged without warning. She reacted instantly….pivoted left, brought her arm up to block. I let my fist stop inches from her shoulder, testing her reaction time. Fast. Very fast. Before she could counter, I swept low for her legs. She jumped.Actually jumped…clean over my sweep…and twisted midair, aiming a kick at my hea
