The Day Before the Wedding

Kayla’s POV

I was pacing back and forth, convinced I was about to wear a hole straight through the carpet. My mom had been watching me for a while before she finally stood up, walked over, and gently grabbed my arms to stop me.

“Kayla, calm down. Lucas will be fine, okay? He just went to a meeting at another pack. There were rogues that attacked. You know how strong he is. Your dad, your grandfather, and Spike went with him. It’s going to be okay.”

chapter 130 Tori POVI stood there during the wedding, listening to Kayla and Lucas exchange vows. But all through the ceremony, I felt it…someone was watching me. My nerves kept me frozen in place. Finally, they said “I do” and kissed. And then… chaos.A crazy woman appeared out of nowhere, screaming, “YOU KILLED MY FUCKING FATHER, YOU BITCH!”Before she could reach Kayla, something insane happened…vines erupted from the floor, snatching her up. Kayla calmly walked over and stabbed her straight in the heart. The vines dragged her down, and then the floor returned to normal. I blinked. Freaky… but ridiculously badass.Once the crowd settled, Kayla addressed everyone:“Alright folks, drama’s done. Let’s head to the grand hall for food, cake, and dancing!”Cheers erupted, but I could still feel tension lingering. Someone had just tried to kill their queen… right after her wedding. As we walked toward the hall, someone stepped beside me. My body tensed. I knew instantly he was the one

Chapter Title: The Wedding chapter 129 Kayla POVIt was 1:45.Time to walk down the stairs…My heart was beating so loud I was sure everyone could hear it. I slipped my shoes back on with Mom’s help. She adjusted my dress, fixed my hair, while Luna made sure my makeup was perfect.“I don’t want the veil down yet,” I said. “Not until I’m outside. I need to see where I’m walking.”..No one argued. We started down the stairs….Please don’t trip. Please don’t trip and fall…Please don’t embarrass yourself on your own wedding day….Step after step. And when we reached the last one without me falling flat on my face, I silently thanked the Goddess.Outside, the garden looked magical. The arches were covered in flowers, white petals lining the aisle. Once my heels touched the stone path, Mom gently pulled the veil over my face.“Take a few breaths, honey bee. It’s going to be okay. There you go. In… and out. Your husband is waiting.” Should I run?No. I wasn’t going anywhere.I was just scared.

chapter 128Wedding DayKayla POVThe knock at my door felt like it was trying to break the hinges clean off. I groaned, rolling over and burying my face into the pillow. Who in the hell was knocking like that this early? I had finally gotten the best sleep I’d had in weeks. The knocking didn’t stop. With a growl, I swung my legs over the bed and stomped to the door. I yanked it open.“This better be good. I was having the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.”My sister didn’t even answer. She shoved me backward into the room while my mom burst out laughing behind her.I frowned. “What?”“Kayla, look at your hair,” Mom wheezed.I reached up and felt it sticking up in every direction possible. Wonderful.“Why are y’all here so damn early? The wedding isn’t until two!”“Honey,” Mom said gently, stepping inside, “it’s ten in the morning. You slept through training. We need to get you in the milk bath and start getting you ready.” Before I could argue, she disappeared into the bathroom w

I wanted to look into those eyes I’d memorized over the last few months. I wanted to wrap my arms around his neck and just feel him…so I would know he was safe. Finally, I sat down, my feet practically sighing in relief.“Listen,” Mom continued, clearly trying to distract me, “the catering people will be here in a few hours. They’ll cook while we finish setting up. The wedding cakes will

chapter 126Reene POVI knew what I did was wrong. I was hurt…heartbroken….and all I could think about was taking Luna’s mate just so I wouldn’t feel so empty. I apologized over and over, but I knew she was furious. I let her beat me until I was nearly dead. I didn’t even fight back.If no one had stopped her, I wouldn’t have blamed them.A part of me wanted to die anyway. Anything to make the pain stop. After a few days in the hospital wing, I healed. They moved me to the other side of the castle. I was only allowed out for training, breakfast, and dinner. The rest of the time, I was alone…with my thoughts… and my broken heart. One night, I decided I’d had enough. There was a cliff I’d found once while hiking. It was beautiful…quiet, hidden, peaceful. The perfect place to disappear. My wolf begged me not to do it. She said it would kill her too. I told her to ask the Moon Goddess to free her before I jumped.I stood at the edge, looking down. It really was beautiful. The wind brushed
