As the prints became obvious and more defined, Bree became more fearful.

Something in the back of her mind told Bree the dream might be real. She did not want to acknowledge that stress made her sleepwalk in the forest with a wolf as a guide.

So, instead of checking if her foot matched the indentations on the ground, she just looked for more clues, hoping that it would lead back to the campsite.

Their family were experts at avoidance. They skirted around issues that addressed heavy topics, so it was no surprise she wanted the footprints to be a mystery. Ignorance was bliss.

They got this trait from their grandma, who never answered questions they had about their heritage.

The trail was taking her away from the river and she got worried. Bree looked at the path behind her, but after several minutes of hesitation, she followed the prints again, reluctantly.

What was she doing in the wild, playing with a wolf? Was the wolf trying to lure her to its den, only for them to eat her later?

It had been several days since Grayson heard from Brianna. In the beginning, he thought she was just avoiding him because of the uncomfortable situation they got into a few days ago. Brianna threw herself at him and gave him permission to take her to bed. But he knew she was still learning to control her urges, so he had to stop them both from making the biggest mistake of their lives. He had a feeling she was not the type of woman who had a one-night stand and creeped out of someone’s house in the morning, never to be heard from again. She appeared more classy than that and he wanted to believe that Brianna had relationships because she was in love with her partner.Turning her down had been the hardest thing he had to do, but he also wanted to be the better man and make sure that when they came together, it was because she was in control, and her actions were not dictated by her wolf.Grayson had never met anyone like Brianna before. BREE WAKE UP! Brandon’s voice screamed, jolting her from a deep sleep. She opened her eyes and looked around, searching for Bran, but she was still lying on her inflatable camp mat. “Bran? Where are you?” She asked, closing her eyes, trying to pinpoint his location, but all she saw was darkness. It was just a dream, but she got up anyway. “Bree, get out! There’s no time!” A stabbing pain pierced her head, throwing her off balance while getting out of the sleeping bag. “Run Bree! Run to the west, away from the sounds.” The urgency in his voice had her unzipping the tent and scampering in the direction he instructed. Before going to bed, she oriented the opening of the tent to the west so that when the sun came out, it wouldn’t shine on her face.“Bran? Where the fuck are you, and what am I running from?” She asked, trying to collect her bearings.“Just follow my voice and you’ll be okay.”Fear gripped her heart as she ran. Brianna was too busy rubbing her face against the soft fabric and taking in the musky male scent she now associated with Grayson, so he had to ask again.“Does your face hurt?” He cupped the area she was caressing when he saw the adoring look on her face and a flash of yellow in her eyes. “Are you okay?”Brianna did not understand why she was having tender feelings for Grayson at that moment. Maybe it was hero worship. After all, he was the one who found her when she was lying naked in the middle of the forest and offered his shirt. She did not answer, instead focused her hands on buttoning down the shirt he lent her.It took him an enormous amount of self-control not to stare as her hands moved down her body, clasping the buttons together. The shirt swallowed up her frame, but he could still see the beautiful curves underneath when he closed his eyes. “Can you stand?” He asked after clearing his throat. It was hard to get a grip when invasive thoughts, like running in the forest nake

As she wrapped her arms around him, the intoxicating smell of citrus lemon combined with the creamy coconut scent overwhelmed his sense of smell, which is why he never got a whiff of his brother’s approach.Aiden grinned. He had been on vacation when Briana arrived, so he only knew about her from the gossip going around town, and he was surprised that nobody mentioned the perfect pairing between the newcomer and his brother. The gentle wind changed directions, and he could smell the arousal coming from the pair. Bree opened her eyes and was embraced by complete darkness. She did not remember it being dark in the forest, but wherever she was, her eyes were taking forever to adjust. Her head pounded when she tried to get up, so she took deep breaths and laid back on the soft mattress. That seemed to help, so she closed her eyes and listened to the sounds around her, and there was silence. Even her ears felt funny, like they had cotton balls stuffed inside.Rest, her body dictated, but Brianna did not want to succumb to the darkness, so she groped her way around the room. She assumed she was in a room because the smell of dirt and the forest sounds were nowhere near. As she moved, her bladder made it known that she needed to use the bathroom.Grayson. “Tell me you didn’t feel your fingers tingle before your claws came out?”“No, you did that. It was a magic trick.”He shook his head. “Do you remember what happened after I found you this morning?”“You found me?” Her brows came together to recall what happened. She blushed remembering the kiss, then her eyes grew enormous when she remembered waking up naked in the forest and Grayson draping his shirt as a cover. Her memory had been spotty ever since and there was nothing about the campsite that appeared in her mind.“I found your tent at the fire lookout and followed your scent.”“Where are my stuff? Did you get my clothes?”“Why were you sleeping outside?”“Bran. He told me to get out and run away. Someone was after us.”“Did you find your brother?”“No, I didn’t see him. “Why?” She was not used to people touching her face, and having a hunky and attractive man like Grayson holding her was not an exception. He was a werewolf, and her imagination ran wild as it recalled images of the horror movies she’d watched in her childhood. Grayson could easily slice her with his claws if he wanted to.“They’re fascinating to look at and I want to understand what makes them change their color.” The nearness of his face as he lifted her chin had her heart racing.“They change colors?”Grayson cupped her face with his left hand while his right forefinger and thumb widened her eyes. He tilted her face to the light to see the color clearer. He sensed her eyes change colors due to their initial attraction, but needed to be sure.“Does your eyes change colors, too?” Her scent wafted up to Grayson’s nose, and he released his breath slowly. Marina’s mouth shaped an O as she glared at Bran. ‘Are you kidding me? I’m not sleeping with you in a house full of werewolves. They’ll hear what we’re doing.’Bran smiled, lifted her chin to close her mouth, and kissed her cheek. He was getting bolder with his actions. ‘I didn’t say anything about sleeping together in my bed, but sure, we can do that too.’‘You’re horrible,’ Marina blushed. Obviously, she was getting ahead of herself and didn’t even know if Bran wanted the same thing she did. Sure, he held her close with all the male werewolves around trying to check her out, but that meant nothing. He could be like any other male staking his claim when other men were about.Bran grinned and his eyes lit up. ‘Not funny!’ She added, even though her smile said something different. His smile alone melted her resolve. Marina stopped talking to Bran when Grayson spoke. Bran held her close as she faced the alpha and the visitor.Tension was so thick it could be felt in the air, thus push

“Hey, Marg,” Bran and Marina enter the bar, followed by ten of their new friends. “Can you give my new friends their first drink and charge it on my tab.”Marg raised her brow. “Friends of yours?” She was suspicious. Since when did Brandon have friends the pack didn’t know about? She tried to catch Marina’s attention, but the younger woman escaped to the ladies’ room. Who were these people and why were there so many of them? Why did they come? Are they here for peace or to cause problems? These are just some of the questions she needed answered. However, it was not her place to confront the individuals involved.Marg sent a message to Grayson through the pack link to alert him of the newcomers. Ten werewolves on a motorcycle can mean anything, and she wanted to err on the side of caution.Several minutes later, Grayson and Brianna appear at the bar as if they came casually. “Brandon! Get out of the way! A truck is coming.” She yells while pulling him toward the trees. But Brandon did not budge and kept his ground. He did not want to confront the creature lurking behind the shadows unless necessary. It was too late, Marina thought. When the truck hit the rock, the momentum would crumple the vehicle and them at the same time. She did not want to lose Bran to an accident they could have prevented, so she decided to stay with him. Better die together than cry because of his loss.‘It’s okay. It’s not a truck.’ He communicated through their link as the lights came closer, halting a couple of feet before the rock, the sound of machinery louder than before. His range to hear and see things around him was more enhanced than Marina’s because of his alpha blood. So he knew way before she did that it wasn’t a big vehicle that was approaching.“Need help there young werewolf?” A deep voice boomed behind the light and Marina’s eyes widened in fear as she scented at l

Inside the vehicle, Marina could not sit still. How did Seth know where she was, and how did he know she would be on a date with Brandon?Brandon asked her about a song and she said yes instead of telling him she’d heard it before. She could not focus. Seth just thanked her for luring Brandon away from the pack and threatened to kill him.Marina needed all her faculties to detect any coming danger, so she tuned Bran out, slid the windows down, and listened to the sounds outside. They were halfway to the border between Silvercreek and the next town when her fears finally manifested. She saw glimpses of a werewolf running alongside their car hidden behind the treeline. He was running so fast she could hear him grunting as he ran. Marina walked down the stairs, and Brandon couldn’t help but hold his breath. He always knew she was beautiful, but with minimal makeup and her hair down, she looked younger. The thick foundation, black eyeliner, and red lipstick she wore most of the time made her look more mature, hiding her soft, smooth skin. Having all that armor made him wonder what she wanted to hide under all that facade.“You look so—” Brandon hesitated. He had no words to describe her.“I need to change.” Marina felt conscious and retreated up the steps, but before she could reach the top, Bran’s arm shot out to stop her.“You don’t,” he said after pulling her to his chest, lifting her off the ground and making her feet dangle. His face was positioned right on top of the V of her neckline, and he gave her a naughty smile. “I like this view too.” His eyes lowered, and she covered her breasts with her hands.“Let me go. The answer was yes. She wanted to have sex with Bran, to risk the wrath of their alpha and his mate, to try her chance at happiness. If she would get exiled, why not for her happiness? But now was not the right time and place, not at the barracks, where it felt impersonal and hurried.‘Let’s go on a date first, like you suggested.’ Brandon groaned silently against her neck, but the rumble in his chest told her how disappointed he felt.‘Then we can do all this and more after the… third date?’‘Third date?’ He whined through their link, yet his hand never stopped moving.‘Isn’t that the norm?’‘How about I show you what I can do with my mouth now?’‘Oh…’ How was she supposed to say no when his hands alone brought her to her knees? ‘I have no doubt it’ll be—aghhh…good—aghhh… Brandon, don’t stop.’ Marina fused their lips and clutched his hair as the feeling in her core intensified.
