I woke in a cold sweat and the echo of my scream was still sounding in the cave. It was just starting to get light out and my fire had all but died out. I still was a bit out of it when I heard the steps coming twords the cave entrance again. Once again I backed up into the shadows and watched as the same young man appeared.
He was a sight. I hadn't taken the chance yesterday to look at him because I was to worried he would see me. The man stood probably six foot. He had short blonde hair and from what I could see he had a nice build. He was muscular but not overly muscular. Today he had on just a black tank top and shorts. I could make out the hint of a tattoo on his chest. How he wasn't freezing I had no idea.
He placed another bag by the entrance of the cave. He looked around and saw the containers from yesterday sitting by the fire pit I had built. "I know you are scared but if you decide to come out I promise I won't hurt you." He once again left and took off into the woods. Who is this guy?
I walked out and grabbed the bag. Again it had water and food and this time there was even a pair of old sneakers. They were only a little big but they would work. At least my feet wouldn't get hurt from walking around. The food smelled even better than last time. I was starting to get more curious about this guy.
First off how did he even know I was out here? I mean he just appeared out of nowhere with food and clothes as if he not only knew I was out here but that I would need clothes and then today shoes. Maybe he was watching me. He did say his home was close by maybe he saw me and followed me.
Hundreds of scenarios ran through my head. One thing was for sure he so far was being nice but then again I haven't let him actually get close to me yet. Should I stay here for a little bit longer and see if maybe I can trust this man? No I needed to get going. If my dreams from last night had any truth to them then I have stayed still to long.
People are probably looking for me and I can't let them find me. Not until I figure out what I did or didn't do. I still couldn't remember everything but I knew that whatever happened was bad. I gathered up the bag of food and made sure that the fire was out. I took off into the woods heading away from where the man had gone.
I walked for what seemed like hours. The forest was beautiful but I knew it would be dark soon and I need to find shelter. The sky was starting to turn black and the wind was picking up. I was sure a heavy storm was coming. I now regretted leaving the cave. All of a sudden a loud crack of thunder hit making me jump.
I started to move faster looking for something or somewhere to get me out of the storm. I came to a bunch of old fallen trees just as the rain started to fall. I quickly moved twords them and was able to fit comfortably into them and it seemed safe for the night. Or at least I thought. I wouldn't be able to build a fire tonight.
I settled down into the crevasse of one of the trees and tried to eat some of the food I had. I ate a little and drank some water. The rain was really coming down and I only hoped that I hadn't picked a spot that would flood. I had finally started to fall asleep when I heard something big step on top of the tree I was hiding in. I kept quiet and was hoping that whatever it was would just go away.
I listened as it walked along the tree above me. I felt it stop right above me. I was trying to stay as quiet as possible. I could hear it breathing heavily and sniffing around. Then I heard that grunt. I knew that grunt it was a bear.
As quiet as I tried to be it didn't work. He smelt the food and started to tear at the wood above me. I had to move and move quickly. I started to crawl away from the bear down the inside of the tree. I heard him smash through the trunk right behind me and then I felt his claw dig into my leg. I yelled out and he turned his head to me.
He let go of my leg long enough for me to crawl back further. He was to big to chase me inside the tree. I felt him climb out and back on top of the tree. I was scared and just knew that this was how I was going to die. I made it out of the trees but I couldn't run. I was pretty sure my leg was broken.
I heard the bear getting closer and there was nothing I could do. I looked around for something to use as a weapon. I found a few rocks and a broken tree branch with a sharp end to it. I crawled a little further before I felt something jump over my head and went straight for the bear.
I could hear snarling and branches being broke. I felt the ground shake as something hit the tree near me. I tried to look over but all I saw was something big and with red eyes looking at me. Before I could get a better look the thing jumped up almost like a human and took off again twords the bear. I turned my body in time to see the bear fall to the ground. The other creature had its face buried into the neck of the bear.
I was starting to feel weak. I looked down and saw blood flowing from my leg. I looked back up and saw the red eyes staring straight at me. I still couldn't make out what it was but I knew that I was still in danger. I kept trying to back away slowly but the creature started to come twords me. The blood lose was starting to effect me and the last thought I had was of my mother.
Unknowns POV...
She was so fragile yet I could smell something different about her. Her scent had caught my attention the minute she stepped into my territory. I followed her hoping maybe to get a bit closer without her knowing. She had finally found somewhere to ride out the storm. Well until the bear showed up.
Now she laid on the ground in front of me bleeding out and all I can think about was how good she would taste. I slowly approached her and bent down to get a better smell. Her scent was almost intoxicating. I had wanted her the minute I had caught her scent. I just wanted a taste. I bent down twords her neck.
Just as I was about to place my mark on her neck something came out of the trees beside me. It couldn't be. I had heard of them but I had never seen them before. A huge dark brown wolf came out slowly snarling at me as if trying to protect this young girl. I stood and slowly back away. If this was truly one of them I didn't want to fight it.
I left the sweet prey in front of me reluctantly and took off. Once I was sure the wolf had not followed I stopped and climbed up into a tree so I could watch. By the time I had climbed the tree and turned to look the wolf no longer stood beside the girl but a naked young man was there. It was unbelievable.
Never in my hundred years of life had I seen this. My father, or my creator I guess you would call him, had warned me of the existence of werewolves but I had thought that they had gone extinct long ago. I wonder if he is the last or if he has a pack? I watched as he carefully picked up the girl and took off back the way she had came.
I must follow and find out more. I have never wanted a humans blood as much as I wanted hers right now. If the wolf was alone I could probably take him and claim my prey. I flew down from the tree and took off after them making sure to keep my distance so I didn't raise his awareness to me.
I knew that he was faster in his wolf form but he couldn't run with her if he switched. He still was able to move with a swiftness though and within an hour he had arrived to a large cabin. I stopped on the treeline and watched as he came up the steps of the porch. I found a disgusting odor all around this area.
As the young man walked up the steps the door opened and out came an older woman and man. They rushed him inside and closed the door. The older man had stopped just before closing the door and had looked in my direction almost as if he could see me. Then he turned back and followed the others inside.
I decided not to provoke them and get myself killed. At least not until I had more information. I don't usually want something so bad but for some reason I can't seem to leave this one alone. I will have her blood on my lips.
I took my leave and started back to my home. I didn't take long to get there and my clan mates waited for me. "Demetris, where have you been?" Cleo whined at me. She has been by my side now for sixty years. I had found her dying in the streets of New York. I was tired of running alone so I changed her and kept her as a pet I guess.
She knew that I was her creator but nothing else. We fucked and I would do anything to protect her but that was because as her creator I felt her pain. "I'm sorry love. I was hunting." She stuck her lip out as she placed herself in my lap.
"Without me. I'm hungry to." I smiled at her. She was very beautiful and also very evil. In the last sixty years with this woman she has proven to be a very good asset. I have seen her destroy villages just because she was mad.
"Well my meal was interrupted so we can go if you want. Go get ready." She smiled and kissed my cheek. Then she took off to her room.
"What do you mean your meal got interrupted?" I looked up at Jaden who was standing in the doorway. Jaden came to us a few years ago and has been a great addition to our family. He is cunning and charming which comes in hand when we hunt. He is also very loyal to Cleo and myself.
"Well believe it or not I was confronted by a werewolf." I saw his eyes go wide in disbelief.
"I thought they were extinct."
"I thought so to but apparently not. He was protecting this girl like she belonged to him. Which has my curiosity spiked now." Jaden looked at me and then took a seat next to me.
"If there is wolves in the area we need to be cautious. From what I have read they can take us out like it's nothing. So I would say just let this one go." I knew he was right but I just couldn't get her out of my mind. This was going to be an interesting hunt.
Willow's POV...I could hear voices around me but I couldn't seem to open my eyes. I thought that I had to be dead. "Dad I don't know what else to do. She should have woke up by now." The voice sounded familiar but I wasn't sure who it was."Luke she will wake when she is ready. You saved her son. Besides look she has all but healed and it has only been a few days. You know what that means." I didn't hear the response as I fell back into the darkness.I don't know how much longer I was out but this time I was finally able to actually open my eyes. I slowly opened them and the light was overly bright. Maybe I was in a hospital. Once my eyes adjusted I looked around. I definitely wasn't in a hospital but it looked like I was in someone's house.I heard a small noise in the corner of the room. I turned my head and that's when I saw him. It was the young man that had been bringing food to t
Luke's POV...I still was trying to grasp everything that had happened in the last few weeks. From the moment Willow had entered our land I had a pull to her. I could feel everything she was feeling. She was scared and didn't know what had happened to her. I knew the answers to some of her questions but I couldn't just come out and say hey you're a wolf.No. She had to figure it out on her own. For some reason she was blocking out her transformation. My father had said that something dramatic had happened when she first shifted and that was why she was blocking it. I just wish I knew what had happened so I could help her.I also was very concerned about the creature I had seen almost attack Willow. I hadn't yet told my parents about it because I wasn't sure if I had seen it correctly. Who am I kidding? My eyesight is the best when I am in my wolf form. I did know what I saw and that means trouble. My
Luke's POV...It's been two weeks since Willow finally realized what she was. She is impressive and a quick learner. The more time we spend together the stronger the pull is between us. I know she can feel it to but I don't think she knows what it means. I don't want to freak her out by just coming out and saying anything about it.My parents had explained it to me when I was sixteen. It is in our blood to find our one mate. When you find that person you can feel everything they feel, and when you mate the connection is unbelievable. There are stories of elders in the community that have been able to feel and hear their mate over thousands of miles once they have mated. I don't know how true those stories are but so far everything else that has been told to me has all been true."Come on Luke I want to go for a run." Her sweet voice called out to me from the front door. We still haven't explained everything
Willow's POV..."Jesse!" My scream woke me again but this time I wasn't alone."Who's Jesse?" Luke's voice sounded hurt as he sat at the end of my bed. I sat up sweat dripping down my face. I rubbed my eyes and then looked right into his."He was a boyfriend I had back when I was in school. Something horrible happened to him." Was all I offered. I felt the tears sting my eyes as I tried to fight them back. I knew that he was dead but I just didn't know if I had killed him."Do you remember what happened to him?" Damn I was hoping he wouldn't question it."I heard he was attacked by an animal but it was after I left." The sting in my heart when I lied to Luke was almost unbearable. I wanted to tell him everything I remembered, everything I was dreaming but I couldn't. Not yet at least. Even though I was trusting him and his family more and more I still didn't know wh
An hour later the lunches were all made and the children were starting to arrive. The church just happened to serve as the local daycare as well. They had about ten kids in the morning and then about another ten or so that came after school. There was one other woman that helped with the daycare. Her name was Sierra and she was in her mid thirties.Sierra was just as kind as Grace was. When she first met me she immediately embraced me in a big hug. "Oh you poor thing. I'm so glad that Grace found you." I wasn't use to the kindness of these people. I was defensive at first but after a few hours I was getting use to it.At about three the pastor arrived. He was a man in his forties. He was just as kind as Grace and Sierra. "Why hello. Who do we have here Grace?""Oh hello pastor Wilson. This is Addison. She is our new helper." Pastor Wilson reached out his hand to shake mine."Hello Addison."&n
Luke's POV...I have been on my own for three months now. I had followed Willow's scent as far as I could but then she made sure that I lost it. She was a smart girl for sure and it kind of made me laugh a little bit when I realized what she had done. Now though I was just searching every town I came across. I had just crossed over the Canadian border when her scent filled my nose."Willow." I reached out hoping she would answer me but I got nothing. I followed her scent to a small town a few miles from the border. It seemed like a quiet little place to hide out at. It was just before dawn so I decided to wait for a few hours and then head into the town. I didn't have to wait that long to see her though. As I started to settle in under one of the trees her scent filled my nose again and strong. I heard something coming twords me and before I could move she ran right into me. We both tumbled down a small hil
Demetris POV...I sat in silence watching my family, if that's what you want to call us, devour our latest kill. Cleo was licking her fingers as she slowly approached me. "Come play with us Demetris. I know you are thirsty." When she reached me she stuck one of her blood covered fingers in my mouth allowing me to suck it clean. She smiled sadistically at me as the blood still ran down her lips."Mmm but my dear you have taken the fun out of the hunt. You have killed them all." I pointed behind her at the carnage left in the small alley. She smirked innocently at me and I had to admit her dark red eyes held my attention for a moment. I pushed a piece of her raven hair behind her ear as the night air whisked through the alley bringing forth a scent of fear. I looked up from Cleo's eyes and saw the young woman at the end of the alley."Ahhh see new prey for you my sweet." Cleo dashed down the alley with
Willow's POV...I thrashed against the chains holding me to the wall. "Let me go you stupid fuckers." I heard a familiar laugh and as he appeared I started to lose my control. His hair was in that perfect way he had it the last time I saw him. His eyes just as dark and his frame was maybe even a little bit bigger than I remembered."Now now sweetness is that anyway to act twords an old friend." He purred at me. He walked up to me and put his nose in my hair. Making me want to vomit at just the thought of him being so close to me."You're no friend of mine Hathaway, you psycho stalker. You did it didn't you?""Did what beautiful?""You killed Jesse." He let out a loud laugh and I felt myself losing it more and more. He had no remorse at all but then again he was pure evil."Come on angel come out and play with us. Show us all your true form." Tru
