Chapter 3

I woke in a cold sweat and the echo of my scream was still sounding in the cave. It was just starting to get light out and my fire had all but died out. I still was a bit out of it when I heard the steps coming twords the cave entrance again. Once again I backed up into the shadows and watched as the same young man appeared.

He was a sight. I hadn't taken the chance yesterday to look at him because I was to worried he would see me. The man stood probably six foot. He had short blonde hair and from what I could see he had a nice build. He was muscular but not overly muscular. Today he had on just a black tank top and shorts. I could make out the hint of a tattoo on his chest. How he wasn't freezing I had no idea.

He placed another bag by the entrance of the cave. He looked around and saw the containers from yesterday sitting by the fire pit I had built. "I know you are scared but if you decide to come out I promise I won't hurt you." He once again left and took off into the woods. Who is this guy?

I walked out and grabbed the bag. Again it had water and food and this time there was even a pair of old sneakers. They were only a little big but they would work. At least my feet wouldn't get hurt from walking around. The food smelled even better than last time. I was starting to get more curious about this guy.

First off how did he even know I was out here? I mean he just appeared out of nowhere with food and clothes as if he not only knew I was out here but that I would need clothes and then today shoes. Maybe he was watching me. He did say his home was close by maybe he saw me and followed me.

Hundreds of scenarios ran through my head. One thing was for sure he so far was being nice but then again I haven't let him actually get close to me yet. Should I stay here for a little bit longer and see if maybe I can trust this man? No I needed to get going. If my dreams from last night had any truth to them then I have stayed still to long.

People are probably looking for me and I can't let them find me. Not until I figure out what I did or didn't do. I still couldn't remember everything but I knew that whatever happened was bad. I gathered up the bag of food and made sure that the fire was out. I took off into the woods heading away from where the man had gone.

I walked for what seemed like hours. The forest was beautiful but I knew it would be dark soon and I need to find shelter. The sky was starting to turn black and the wind was picking up. I was sure a heavy storm was coming. I now regretted leaving the cave. All of a sudden a loud crack of thunder hit making me jump.

I started to move faster looking for something or somewhere to get me out of the storm. I came to a bunch of old fallen trees just as the rain started to fall. I quickly moved twords them and was able to fit comfortably into them and it seemed safe for the night. Or at least I thought. I wouldn't be able to build a fire tonight.

I settled down into the crevasse of one of the trees and tried to eat some of the food I had. I ate a little and drank some water. The rain was really coming down and I only hoped that I hadn't picked a spot that would flood. I had finally started to fall asleep when I heard something big step on top of the tree I was hiding in. I kept quiet and was hoping that whatever it was would just go away.

I listened as it walked along the tree above me. I felt it stop right above me. I was trying to stay as quiet as possible. I could hear it breathing heavily and sniffing around. Then I heard that grunt. I knew that grunt it was a bear.

As quiet as I tried to be it didn't work. He smelt the food and started to tear at the wood above me. I had to move and move quickly. I started to crawl away from the bear down the inside of the tree. I heard him smash through the trunk right behind me and then I felt his claw dig into my leg. I yelled out and he turned his head to me.

He let go of my leg long enough for me to crawl back further. He was to big to chase me inside the tree. I felt him climb out and back on top of the tree. I was scared and just knew that this was how I was going to die. I made it out of the trees but I couldn't run. I was pretty sure my leg was broken.

I heard the bear getting closer and there was nothing I could do. I looked around for something to use as a weapon. I found a few rocks and a broken tree branch with a sharp end to it. I crawled a little further before I felt something jump over my head and went straight for the bear.

I could hear snarling and branches being broke. I felt the ground shake as something hit the tree near me. I tried to look over but all I saw was something big and with red eyes looking at me. Before I could get a better look the thing jumped up almost like a human and took off again twords the bear. I turned my body in time to see the bear fall to the ground. The other creature had its face buried into the neck of the bear.

I was starting to feel weak. I looked down and saw blood flowing from my leg. I looked back up and saw the red eyes staring straight at me. I still couldn't make out what it was but I knew that I was still in danger. I kept trying to back away slowly but the creature started to come twords me. The blood lose was starting to effect me and the last thought I had was of my mother.

Unknowns POV...

She was so fragile yet I could smell something different about her. Her scent had caught my attention the minute she stepped into my territory. I followed her hoping maybe to get a bit closer without her knowing. She had finally found somewhere to ride out the storm. Well until the bear showed up.

Now she laid on the ground in front of me bleeding out and all I can think about was how good she would taste. I slowly approached her and bent down to get a better smell. Her scent was almost intoxicating. I had wanted her the minute I had caught her scent. I just wanted a taste. I bent down twords her neck.

Just as I was about to place my mark on her neck something came out of the trees beside me. It couldn't be. I had heard of them but I had never seen them before. A huge dark brown wolf came out slowly snarling at me as if trying to protect this young girl. I stood and slowly back away. If this was truly one of them I didn't want to fight it.

I left the sweet prey in front of me reluctantly and took off. Once I was sure the wolf had not followed I stopped and climbed up into a tree so I could watch. By the time I had climbed the tree and turned to look the wolf no longer stood beside the girl but a naked young man was there. It was unbelievable.

Never in my hundred years of life had I seen this. My father, or my creator I guess you would call him, had warned me of the existence of werewolves but I had thought that they had gone extinct long ago. I wonder if he is the last or if he has a pack? I watched as he carefully picked up the girl and took off back the way she had came.

I must follow and find out more. I have never wanted a humans blood as much as I wanted hers right now. If the wolf was alone I could probably take him and claim my prey. I flew down from the tree and took off after them making sure to keep my distance so I didn't raise his awareness to me.

I knew that he was faster in his wolf form but he couldn't run with her if he switched. He still was able to move with a swiftness though and within an hour he had arrived to a large cabin. I stopped on the treeline and watched as he came up the steps of the porch. I found a disgusting odor all around this area.

As the young man walked up the steps the door opened and out came an older woman and man. They rushed him inside and closed the door. The older man had stopped just before closing the door and had looked in my direction almost as if he could see me. Then he turned back and followed the others inside.

I decided not to provoke them and get myself killed. At least not until I had more information. I don't usually want something so bad but for some reason I can't seem to leave this one alone. I will have her blood on my lips.

I took my leave and started back to my home. I didn't take long to get there and my clan mates waited for me. "Demetris, where have you been?" Cleo whined at me. She has been by my side now for sixty years. I had found her dying in the streets of New York. I was tired of running alone so I changed her and kept her as a pet I guess.

She knew that I was her creator but nothing else. We fucked and I would do anything to protect her but that was because as her creator I felt her pain. "I'm sorry love. I was hunting." She stuck her lip out as she placed herself in my lap.

"Without me. I'm hungry to." I smiled at her. She was very beautiful and also very evil. In the last sixty years with this woman she has proven to be a very good asset. I have seen her destroy villages just because she was mad.

"Well my meal was interrupted so we can go if you want. Go get ready." She smiled and kissed my cheek. Then she took off to her room.

"What do you mean your meal got interrupted?" I looked up at Jaden who was standing in the doorway. Jaden came to us a few years ago and has been a great addition to our family. He is cunning and charming which comes in hand when we hunt. He is also very loyal to Cleo and myself.

"Well believe it or not I was confronted by a werewolf." I saw his eyes go wide in disbelief.

"I thought they were extinct."

"I thought so to but apparently not. He was protecting this girl like she belonged to him. Which has my curiosity spiked now." Jaden looked at me and then took a seat next to me.

"If there is wolves in the area we need to be cautious. From what I have read they can take us out like it's nothing. So I would say just let this one go." I knew he was right but I just couldn't get her out of my mind. This was going to be an interesting hunt.
