LOGINLisa’s POV
I reached the parking lot on time, yet the look he gave me could make anyone think I had committed a crime.
As if he hadn’t poured an entire mug of cold coffee on me this morning. The moment I walked onto the floor, every employee stared at me with pity and shock like a deer trapped in a lion’s cage.
I honestly didn’t know when this monster will plan to show mercy on me… if ever.
Today I ditched the skirt and bought the most expensive trousers and shirt I could find in the fanciest branded store. It was on the company anyway, they were the ones who ruined my clothes.
So I didn’t give a damn if the bill hit three or four digits.
His eyes swept over my outfit again, like he was inspecting every detail. Was he going to comment on my clothes? I was already preparing myself to fight back verbally if he did.
But he didn’t say anything. He got inside the car without a word, and I followed.
The door shut behind me and his scent hit me instantly, powerful, expensive, and signature. He smelled like that every day. Tempting. Mouthwatering. The kind of scent that makes you feel like you are in desire without even realizing it. The smell of first rain mixed with something dark and addictive.
Curiosity got the better of me. I looked at him.
“What perfume do you use?”
He turned to me like no one had ever asked him that in his entire life. His eyes were amused yet shocked maybe wondering how I still had courage left to ask him stupid questions.
He stared right into my eyes, then dropped to my lips for a second before lifting back again, slowly, like he was thinking about something… admiring something… or trying to suppress something inside him.
I should’ve realized the question was useless. He didn’t answer.
He ignored me.
Was he ever normal?
We reached the venue soon, and even from outside, the building screamed luxury. Of course, we were here to meet one of the most successful builders in the country. Apparently, Louis want a separate office building where all his employees could be under one roof. So here we are.
The man greeted Louis politely, looking like the complete opposite of my boss, charming smile, gentleman behavior, respectful.
Then his attention shifted to me.
“Lisa!” he said warmly.
I shook his hand. “Mr. Brooke!”
Before I could pull back, he lifted my hand slightly and kissed the back of it as if I was some Lady and he was a Lord from an old era. The gesture was elegant, confident, and appreciative.
“I must say,” he smiled, “you look even more beautiful than you sound on the phone. Pleasure to finally meet you.”
I didn’t need to turn toward Louis to feel the fire burning in his eyes. I could sense his anger, sharp, heated, dangerous. But why?
“Nice to meet you too, Mr. Brooke,” I said politely, pulling my hand back.
We entered his lavish cabin. Everything, the office, the décor, the way his desk was arranged, showed his success. No wonder he was the best at what he did.
Louis, being the king of negotiations as always, dominated the entire meeting. Not even Brooke’s honey-coated words and confidence could match him. By the end, Louis had gotten exactly what he wanted, the project, the terms, the budget. A sum so huge that some countries would count it as their GDP.
Louis should have been happy. But he wasn't.
He looked irritated every time Brooke glanced at me or slipped in hidden compliments. It was safe to assume that the man was silently flirting with me… or maybe he was just like that with every woman. His own secretary looked relaxed next to him, and look at me, always walking on broken glass around Louis.
“Well, I guess the deal is sealed now,” Brooke declared.
Louis only nodded.
“We should celebrate,” Brooke continued. “I have a party tonight. I insist both of you join. Louis, you’ll meet some valuable business connections… and this pretty lady can enjoy herself.”
I smiled. “I would love—”
“We’ll see.”
Louis cut me off without even looking at me.
“If time allows.”
Of course. If he allows.
Brooke chuckled. “Of course. Time is the king.”
We left after the meeting. It was almost time for my shift to end, but my great boss would rather choke than let me go home half an hour early, so we went straight back to the office.
I was working when he called me inside.
My stomach no longer drop when he summons me now. I already know the drill, either humiliation or scolding. I was always prepared.
I walked inside and gasped.
All the files from the massive wall-shelf were scattered across the floor. Not a few, hundreds. Maybe thousands.
“Where is Shalimaar’s file?” he snapped.
“You gave it to me to make a copy,” I answered, still staring at the chaos.
He stepped toward me. I stepped back. My heartbeat picked up with every inch he closed.
“I told you I want it back by evening. Why isn’t it here?”
“I was just about to give it to you.”
I lifted the file in my hands cautiously.
He snatched it away.
“Only if you could do one thing right.”
What the hell did I do wrong now?
“Now stop staring at me. Clean this mess,”
He ordered.
“I’ll call housekeeping,” I turned to leave, but his voice froze me.
“I don’t trust housekeeping staff with important files. You will clean this.”
He said it so calmly like he was asking for a coffee.
I turned back in disbelief.
Was he out of his mind? These were thousands of files arranged alphabetically and by deal dates. It was already late, cleaning this would take hours. I would probably be here till night.
“But Sir—”
He narrowed his eyes.
“Do you have a problem, Lisa?”
He was daring me to challenge him. I gave up. Nothing melted his stone heart. I’d just clean and go home in peace.
I swear I saw him smirk when I sat on the floor to sort the files. He was doing it on purpose. But why? What did he get out of torturing me?
I wanted to attend the party but here I was, sorting a mountain of files.
Hours passed. My legs hurt, my fingers were numb, but I finally managed to organize everything. Only one file was left to put on the top shelf.
I grabbed a stool and stepped on it, stupid decision while wearing heels.
I lost my balance.
I shut my eyes, waiting for the painful hit to the floor but I didn’t fall.
Strong arms wrapped around me, holding me firmly in midair.
And that signature scent surrounded me again, rain and something dark.
It was him, Louis had caught me.
Author's POVYears later.... "Louis?"Lisa passed through hallway to look for her husband. Her heels clicked against the marble floor eagerly. "Where is this man... We have a meeting to attend.""Lou___"She gasped when she was pulled inside the dark room by a strong hand. She instantly recognized that it's Louis. "What are you doing?""This!"He kissed her neck and sucked on it. "And this!"He kissed her passionately. Lisa was breathless when he was done with her. "Don't do this to me, I have work... I can't afford to shower and change now."She begged with smile on her face. He smirked and started sliding hand under her shirt. "Louis!"She slapped his hand away and pulled him out of the too. "We have a meeting."He sulked. "You don't love me anymore."She chuckled while turning towards him. "We had a sex in the morning so don't play this card on me... You have become a pro at manipulation."He grinned. "It never fails.""Today it will, let's go!"She started dragging hi
Author’s POVAfter months of chaos, misunderstandings, planning, and emotional ups and downs, the day had finally arrived. It was their wedding day.Not the forced one that happened earlier under pressure and manipulation. Not the rushed ceremony that had more tension than happiness. This time it was real. This time it was the wedding they both actually wanted. The preparations had taken weeks. Louis had personally supervised almost everything even though he usually never cared about things like decorations, flowers, or themes.Earlier, marriage had been nothing more than a strategic alliance for him. A business move. Something powerful families did to strengthen their influence.Love had always sounded like a ridiculous concept to him. Something weak people believed in.But life had a strange way of changing people.Especially when a certain woman walked into their life and refused to leave their mind. When Louis first started planning the wedding, he was convinced that Lisa would wa
Lisa’s POVThe car stopped in front of the office building and my stomach instantly tightened.Louis stepped out first like he always did, calm and confident, like the world belonged to him. I followed him slowly and the moment my feet touched the ground, my eyes automatically moved toward the tall glass building in front of us.My office. The same place where my life used to be simple. But today it felt different. My heart started racing the moment I looked at the entrance.I stood there frozen for a second.People were going in and out of the building like every normal day. Employees chatting, some holding coffee cups, some looking at their phones while walking in.But for me it felt like walking into a battlefield.I swallowed slowly.“How am I supposed to face them?” The scandal. The news. Those pictures. Everyone had seen them.Everyone knew that I had suddenly married my boss. My mind immediately started imagining things like judgy eyes and whispers. “This is so weird,” I whi
Lisa’s POVI woke up slowly, stretching my arms above my head while still half buried in the blanket. My body felt heavy and lazy, like I hadn’t rested properly. My head throbbed is slightly. Not painfully, just that dull heaviness that comes after a night when your mind refuses to sleep even when your body is exhausted.I stared at the ceiling for a moment.Last night's memory hit me like a sudden flash. The gunshot. Siana falling. Blood. My stomach tightened instantly.I swallowed hard and closed my eyes again, but it didn’t help. Her face appeared in my mind as clearly as if she was standing right in front of me. The shock on her face before she fell and the silence after the gunshot.A cold shiver ran through my body.“I killed someone,” I whispered to myself.Even saying it quietly made my chest feel tight.I turned to my side and hugged the pillow. The guilt was still there. Heavy and uncomfortable, sitting somewhere deep inside my chest like a stone that refused to move. No ma
Author’s POVLouis noticed it immediately. The moment the gunshot echoed through the empty house, Lisa’s entire body went rigid. For a second she looked like she had frozen in place. Then the reality of what she had done started sinking in.Her hands began shaking uncontrollably. The gun was still in her grip, but her fingers had loosened around it. Her breathing turned uneven and shallow. Her chest moved rapidly as panic started building inside her.Louis knew that look. He had seen it before in people who had taken a life for the first time. He has been there. The moment he saw the panic taking over her, he moved quickly.“Lisa.”His voice was calm but firm as he walked toward her.She looked up at him like she was coming out of a nightmare. Her eyes were wide and glassy.“I…” Her lips trembled. “I…”Her fingers tightened around the gun again without realizing it.Louis carefully reached for her hands.“It’s okay,” He said quietly. His voice was steady and grounding.“Give me th
Author’s POVLisa stared at Louis as if she had just seen a ghost step out of the darkness. For a few seconds she could not even process what was happening. Her mind had been running in circles ever since Siana pointed the gun at them, and now Louis suddenly appeared like he had been there the entire time. Her voice came out weak.“Louis…?”Her eyes moved over him carefully. He looked calm. Too calm for someone who had just walked into a dangerous situation where a woman was pointing a gun at him.Confusion slowly started replacing the fear inside her. If he was here… then why didn't he answer her calls? Her fingers tightened around the gun she had taken earlier. Her chest was still rising and falling fast from everything that had happened. She looked at Jack beside her. Jack gave her a small nod. That simple nod made her heart drop.He knew. He knew Louis was here.Lisa's brows slowly pulled together.“So… you knew he was here?” She whispered.Jack didn't say anything. His silence w
Louis’s POVI got inside the car and slammed the door shut harder than I intended. My jaw was still tight from what just happened. My blood was still running hot. Lisa turned her face away the moment I sat beside her. She refused to even look at me and continued dabbing her knee with a tissue. The

Lisa’s POVIt looks like my boss actually understands what sympathy means. I honestly did not expect that from him.
