Beatrice parked her car in front of the mansion she had always seen as a home before her stepmother and her three children changed things for her. She took a deep breath and moved a finger to her forehead before massaging it with a frown on her face. This was the first time she was returning home after being kicked out, and it was all due to Duke, the guy she met some time ago at the Wild Night club when she had gone there to distract herself from her problems, and she was glad she did. Taking her cellphone out of the miniature bag she carried, she dialed the number of the man who was helping her regain her parents' properties. "Good morning, sir. I'm at the residence right now. I just wanted to let you know I will be inside the building in a few minutes." Her voice sounded crisp, yet she tried hard to collect herself. "Alright, but please record every conversation for me. It will be required in court," Mr. Francis, the man Duke introduced to her to help her get back all her rights
It was then that she heard hushed voices that she instantly recognized as belonging to her stepmother and two sisters. Sweat poured down her body, sticking her to the light material she was wearing when something caught her ears. “So you are saying that you killed that witch mom?” A hushed, happy voice of a girl rang out, and Beatrice, who recognized it as Chloe's, shuddered again. Her heart was beating wildly, and she covered her mouth with her hand to stop herself from screaming, thereby alerting them that someone was around. Tears poured out of her eyes, but she blinked them away and walked closer to the door, her body shaking uncontrollably. Beatrice took out her mobile phone from her bag, immediately put it on record, and held it closer to the door. “Yes, I killed the bitch, and I'm happy that I took the initiative to do that,” Beatrice's stepmother said in a proud tone, making Beatrice feel like slapping her from where she stood. “I would have loved it more if you had killed
“Who are you and what the hell do you want from me?” she said through gritted teeth, her tone cold, which made her appear dangerous for her age. Francis tipped his head backward, his eyes appraising her from head to toe. He found her demeanor amusing, and a chuckle escaped his mouth. His continued silence in response to her questions infuriated her, and she clenched her fists as her chest heaved up and down. “Why are you laughing? Do I look funny to you?” Violet snapped. She walked up to him, standing just a few feet away, her eyes boring into his, and she stomped her foot impatiently. “I demand answers!” Francis's chuckle intensified. “You really are a funny, dumb girl. I can see that.” His expression changed abruptly from a smile to a hardened glare, his jaw grinding. He reached out and grabbed her by the hair, causing her face to contort in pain, a hurt whimper escaping her lips. Violet winced as he continued to yank her hair as if pulling out a weed from the soil. “What the
Silent but hot tears flowed down her face as the echo resounded in her ears. She was not ready to meet her mother any time soon, and she couldn't think of ways to get out of the dungeon she was in.Her head started hurting, and she knew it was due to the numerous times she had hit her head on the floor. Placing her hands on her head, Beatrice massaged it.There was no hope left in her. The only hope she had was taken away from her when the message she sent to Mr. Francis was deleted.Tears of sorrow poured down her face continuously, her heartbeat increasing by the minute, fear clutching her heart, and her mind flying in so many places."What do I do now? How do I get out of here?" she asked no one in particular. The only thing that met her was silence and the eeriness she felt in the godforsaken place. No one had come to see her since she was left here. She had planned on begging them again when they came to check on her, and it's been hours already since she heard that sound. The on
Francis dragged the unconscious body of Violet out of his room and led her towards his car. He unlocked his car and laid her on the back seat before cleaning his bloodied hands on the space on her dress that was without blood. He sat behind the wheel before driving towards her residence.Flashback,After her blunt refusal to tell him where she kept Beatrice, he sliced the knife on her neck, and her blood spilled out of her, staining both herself and him before dripping on the floor.A loud yelp left her mouth when the pain shot through her spine. Her eyes trained on the floor, they widened in disbelief as she stared at her own blood flowing into a puddle on the floor. She raised her elbow and hit him, and the knife in his hand fell down, but he didn't let her take it as his hold on her body tightened. Francis pushed a finger into the hole he created on her body, and she cried out in pain.Using his left hand, he grabbed her two hands and wrung them together as his teeth clanged togeth
Lionel's body stiffened at the coldness in the voice of the stranger with his sister's phone. His hold on the phone suddenly became strong, as though he was going to smash it into little chalk flakes. He swore under his breath to deal with whoever was toying with his family. That person was causing his mom and sister to be afraid of him, and he did not like that. He was the son of a very prominent man, and he wouldn't let someone bully him just like that."Where do I find you?" He grounded out the words in anger. Anger consumed him, but he knew he needed to stay calm if he wanted to see his precious little sister again.Francis, on the other side, chuckled slightly but remained quiet for a moment. He was considering playing a little game with the family, but at the same time, he was weighing whether or not they were worth his time.He had wasted his precious little time trying to save the princess in distress, but he had not found her yet."You are wasting my time!" Lionel fired angri
"Spill," he said, sitting up on the ground as he tried to regain his strength by filling up oxygen into his already depleted body."You will promise to return every penny you and your family owe Beatrice."Lionel stared at him in a flabbergasted manner for a while. He would never have thought that he would ask him something like this. He knew refusing was going to cost him a lot, and he was no fool to bet properties to that of his sister's life or probably his too.But there’s no way he was going to fulfill that part of his promise. Even Francis was aware of this fact as well, which was why he had a backup plan."Deal," he said, getting up from the ground and extending a hand for a handshake. But Francis looked at it as though it was infected by leprosy.Biting back his words, Lionel lowered his hand to his side."Take me to where you hid my girl." Lionel heard the possessiveness in his tone and he couldn't help but wonder what sort of relationship he had with his stepsister. The thou
