Chapter 1

Mila.

I woke up to the shrill sound of my alarm. I yawned out a loud groan as I stretched out my wrecked muscles, my body simultaneously lifting up the mat I was laid on.

This is my house, and it’s no surprise that I live here in the basement, with only a mat to sleep on and two other rags to switch when the other gets sweaty or dirty.

It’s no surprise for me because I watched the story of Cinderella as a kid, and although I wished to become a fairytale princess back then. I never specifically asked to become Cinderella before the magic words.

There are little twists in my story. Father left my mother for a skinny model who is a single mother, then stole me from my mother by sending her to jail and assuming my full custody.

As if my life wasn’t ruined enough, he left the skinny model a year later to be with a business partner of his, the final villain of my story.

My father’s new wife, Gretta Gomez Jones. He married my father shortly after his separation with the skinny model. I was fresh out of high school then and badly wanted to run away.

My bastard father just had to pin me down with his influence and connections all over the city, I could no longer bank the idea of taking off.

When Gretta came into our home with her twin kids, I did not expect her to be worse than a witch. But she is and has a cloud on my father’s eyes to block her vicious behaviours.

She got rid of all the maids in the house by saying, “Oh I’m not comfortable with strangers, and can not be trusted.” My dumb fowl of a dad sacked all our servants to please her.

Little did anyone know of her plan to make my life a living hell, she detested me, I have no idea why, but I’m just glad the feeling is mutual.

My life grew more sour a few months back after the departure of our servants, and she decided I’m a female and should become the maid of the house. I mean yes we’ve hated each other in secret, but that was the start of our glaring rival.

I wouldn’t comply, and that would earn me days locked up in my room with no food or water and a sweet lie to my father that I’m chilling at our penthouse.

Her diabolical twin was happy to help their mother break me down and have me shrink.

She threatened to make my father disown me at some point, but I honestly could care less about that and told her to do it, that I’d even be glad. Then, she preyed deeper into my existence.

She threatened to have my father extend my mother’s jail time for a permanent stay. She could get that done because my father had become her puppet. And I couldn’t have that done to my innocent mother. She has just a few more months to serve and will be a free woman once again.

My father framed her and locked her up to keep her away from me. Her only crime was loving me and denying my father the right to have me. And so, my father taught her a lesson and informed her of who has the power.

I succumbed alas to Gretta’s reign and rules and became the maid of the house. My clothes got incinerated, assets given away, and gradually lost my right as the heiress to my father’s empire.

What was my father’s view on this?

I’d also like to know because that bastard of a man has no idea what is happening under his own roof. We’ve last interacted now, I’d say it’s past one year, and he could care less.

I mean sure I’d land a punch in his face if he shows up, but still, he could have pushed an effort. For goodness’s sake, we live under the same roof, and he failed to notice that his only daughter has been made the maid of the house?!!!! He’s definitely under a spell, and I hope it ends him.

That is, if I don’t get super crazy enough to do the job myself before the spell takes the throw.

I made my way downstairs to begin my daily dose of workloads. Pancakes, waffles, French toasts, scrambled eggs, and salad dressing are what’s on the menu for breakfast.

I got to work by cleaning the kitchen first before putting out the ingredients for the dishes.

Everyone is still asleep, I’m mandated to wake up before dawn and make sure the house is perfect before they flap their ugly little eyes awake.

I was mixing the flour together with other stuff for the pancakes when I heard footsteps approaching, and one of the twins came into view.

I rolled my eyes at her and went back to what I was doing.

“Get me a chilled juice plus water, on a tray, and follow me to my room,” the used Barbie doll commanded in a slurry tone as she stood by the entrance with a sleepy gaze

Her name is Georgina, but since she went after her mother’s bleachy appearance. She looked more like an abandoned doll in an attic. So I nicknamed her a mashed face mentally and some other names that fit the way she looked.

“Your mother isn’t around Georgina, I could have my hands work on that hideous face of yours so the doctors would have a reason to fix it,” I jabbed at her, removing the gloves I have on my hands so she’d know I meant my words.

“You’re gonna repeat yourself in front of my mom, mother!” Her pitchy tone screamed out like a hungry bitch.

“Okay please, please I’m sorry. I just woke up on the wrong side of the mat and was not in control of my mouth. Go back to bed, I’ll have your juice and water up with you in no time,” I quickly pleaded with her before she did what she intended to do.

Anything to avoid her witch of a mother teaching me a lesson.

“Good for you,” she said and stomped off.

I sighed as I walked over to the fridge and pulled it open. My eyes trailed over the line for juices, and an evil smirk touched my lips as my gaze caught the pineapple juice.

Sure this won’t have the doctors work on her face, but it would sure have her in hell for a few minutes and possibly earn her a date with the doctors.

Georgina is allergic to pineapples, in any form or variants. She’s simply allergic.

Her skin itches, and it causes her a dangerous rash and bumps on her skin.

I took the pineapple juice and the water she requested, setting both on a tray with a glass cup as I went over to her room.

When I got to her entrance, the door was already open so I went in and just closed the door behind me.

“Pour me the juice, and start massaging my legs. I woke up with some aches around my legs and I feel so tired.” She whined in her annoying voice.

I smirked inwardly, you’re about to feel more than tired don’t worry. I poured her the juice like she wanted and took it over to her. “Here you go,”

She took from me and drowned the juice in a gulp. “Hmm, why does this taste like a pineapple?”

“That is because it is, and you have about one minute left to become a mess,” I responded as I moved back from her with a satisfied smile on my face.

“What the fuck Mila? What the fuck?” Panic rose in her voice as she sat up and jumped out of the bed.

“I wasn’t kidding when I said I wanted the doctors to work on you, I really wasn’t.” I shook my head nonchalantly, enjoying her panic as she began searching for her medication which she soon retrieved and was about to ingest.

Oh shit I forgot she has that. I rushed over to her and knocked it out of her hand, then picked it up off the floor.

“Oh no, please give that back. Please I beg you, oh no!” I love the ghost that suddenly took cover in her face.

“Or what?” I chuckled in her face as I playfully flayed the medication bottle.

“I promise not to let my mom know about this, give that back……” she trailed into a cough as she began to itch her face and her shoulder at the same time.

It’s about damn time.

“You’ll regret this,” she rasped out in a dry tone as she scratched on her body harder.

I took the water I brought and the glass cup, filled it up to half and dumped all the pills inside the bottle into the liquid to dissolve and become useless.

“Consider this my first act of revenge, have a great morning Georgina.” I gave her a smile before I turned around and walked out with the glass cup.

Chapter 4 Mila. “I now pronounce you. Mr and Mrs Briggs, you may kiss your bride,” the registrar announced with an unusual enthusiasm, a bright smile on her face as her expression urged us to carry out her demand. I looked at the man seated next to me; my husband; he is now my husband. Wow, this is surreal. He soon locked eyes with me, his gaze cold and empty like a windy night as he stared deep into the abyss my eyes were to him. I watched his head lean towards my face as his soft gaze trailed downward to my lips. “Sure thing,” he mouthed before he pulled me in for a kiss all of a sudden. I opened my lips up for him instinctively, awed at how he passionately weaved the kiss, his tongue thrust in range around my mouth, and my lips locked into a rhythmic dance with his. It was no tender kiss, but still, his rich taste of lavender mixed with mints shadowed the roughness of how he handled and dominated the kiss. He pulled away abruptly and adjusted himself back into his s

Chapter 3 Mila. Although my head was stuck with the sudden drift in my life; I managed to keep a sane face and a levelled head as I walked over to where Michael and his family were. Georgie was back with them, and by the looks of the scene must’ve probably outed me to his mother and stepfather about what I did to his twin sister. My father glared at me with a heavy disappointment and the urge to throw a punch into that face of his floored my heart. He stood up, left Gretta’s side, and came to where I stood. Not too close, and simply a few steps away. “My question is, why?” He quizzed as he crossed his arms over his chest. I snickered loud enough for him to hear. “Oh so you think this is funny? Is almost killing your sister funny to you?” His tone sounded aggravated. “It is, but what’s funnier is that you’re finally looking at me, and yet you can’t see me.” I rolled into an actual fit of laughter, pulling out a confused expression from his face as he stared at me like I

Chapter 2 Mila. Literally a few minutes later. My deed has turned the whole house into chaos. And before we know it, we’re all booted into dad’s Mercedes and on our way to the hospital. Georgina was in serious pain from the allergic reactions and probably yet to tell her mother that I was behind her condition because she was rather occupied with concern for her daughter than talking to me about what happened. My dad and Georgina’s twin brother tried asking me what happened, I only shrugged and told them I didn’t know. Georgie eyed me with doubts, but I stared back at him with a blank expression. I looked at my father to read the look in his own eyes, it was fear, and who was the fear for? My gaze fell back on Georgina, he was scared for her? For his step-daughter?! Today is the first time in nearly a year that he has seen me or spoken to me, and the first thing he said to me was asked how Georgina arrived at her condition. I hate him. I’ll never forgive him. If
