(FMO)Chapter 3

Sophia

(You've Forgotten Who I am)

“What?.”

“Yes, Anna. Everybody dies.”

“And I agreed to this?.” I asked in disbelief.

“You personally designated the locations of the bombs.”

“I see. How long till they go off, Carter?.” I asked him while mentally praying that it wasn't too late to save everybody here.

“Ninety minutes, my love.”

Thank God. There's enough time.

I gently stepped away from his embrace and plastered a smile on my face.

“Then I better enjoy my husband's last ninety minutes on earth with him.”

“Of course. What a thoughtful wife.”

“Shouldn't you be taking your leave now, mister Carter?.”

“Of course, babe.”

He gives me one last kiss before smacking my ass and walking out the door.

I breathed a sigh of relief before I looked around for anything that I could use.

Maybe, a phone.

I searched around the room for a phone before the door opened again.

“Good lord, Belle! What have you done to my masterpiece!.”

“Albie?.”

My sister was standing right at the door with her hands on her waist.

“It's Tina, young lady. Now, why did you ruin your hair and makeup? I almost screamed in the hall when Ace told me you needed a touch up. Girl, I left you looking like art.”

I was overwhelmed by my emotions as I engulfed her in a tight hug.

“Oh, I'm glad to see you, Albie.”

She froze at first before I felt her pat my back slowly.

“Alright. What's wrong with you? Did you really slip and fall? Ace told me you're acting strange.” She said as soon as we broke the hug.

“Nothing. I'm fine. Same old Annabelle.” I said with a smile.

“Are you sure? You've been calling me Albie.”

“It's from a movie I just saw last night. You look like a character from the movie.” I lied.

She gave me a bored look.

“I was with you all through last night. We never saw a movie, Belle.”

“Oh my bad. Where is Ace? I must speak to him right now.”

“No. That's bad luck. He's not meant to see you until later.”

“But it's urgent, please.”

“No. You've already seen each other enough. Now sit down and let me retouch your makeup for you.”

The ten minutes of makeup redo felt like forever as I tapped my foot in nervousness.

“All done. Try not to ruin it again this time.”

“Thank you, Tina. I won't.”

“You better don't.”

“Can you please call Ace for me. I swear it's important.” I begged her.

“Fine! You're giving me those puppy eyes. Now sit tight and don't move.”

“Thank you.”

I breathed a sigh of relief as she walked out the door and not long after Ace walked in.

“Annabelle. Tina says you needed to see me?.”

“Yes. Please we have to change the venue.” I went straight to the point.

“What? Why? You wanted this hall. You insisted on it. Not to talk of the fact that I hated it right from the start.” He said.

“I know and I'm sorry. I just need the guests and the entire wedding ceremony somewhere else that isn't here. Please, Ace.” I grabbed his hands and looked him in the eye.

“Oh my God, Annabelle. What do you expect me to do when the wedding is about to start in a few minutes.”

“I'm sorry. But please you'll regret it if you don't do something. I had a really bad dream last night and now I have a bad feeling about the wedding. It was scary, Ace.”

“Fine! I'll see what I can do. Better pray there's an available hall in Los Angeles in such short notice.”

“Thank you, Ace. I don't even mind the park, just any other place but here.”

And with that the wedding and the wedding guests were transported from Prestige Hall to Pyramid Heights hotel and I couldn't be more relieved.

Thankfully, Ace Hartford must be a very influential man to have the owner of the hotel rent the hall to Ace for free.

He called it a wedding gift.

The wedding procession went by smoothly with the only hitch on my own part, being the fact that I had to kiss a total stranger.

He is a really good kisser by the way.

The reception was going very well as lively music filled the air.

“Thank you so much, Ace, you have no idea what you just did.”

“You've said that a million times today, Annabelle. That's enough. It's not like I saved the world.” I could detect the tinge of amusement in his voice.

“You really don't know.”

“Well, if you really want to show your gratitude, you know there's various ways of showing that. You can show me how grateful you are tonight.”

He trailed his hands down my sides as I knew that look on his face.

And honestly, I'm not ready for that.

“Nephew!.”

A voice cut in before I could respond to him.

“Uncle Damien. I'm so glad you could make it here. I'm very sorry for the stress of changing venues on such short notice.”

“It's nothing. Anything for you, my boy. I'm glad to be here for you.”

I turned to face the person that Carter had mentioned earlier and I honestly wish I didn't.

“Bryan?.”

I couldn't control my mouth yet again.

What game was the universe playing? I was literally staring at a more matured looking Bryan who had started to gray by the temples.

I could recognise my past husband no matter what form or shape he took.

This was what Bryan Montgomery would look like in his fifties.

“It's uncle Damien, Annabelle not Bryan. Who is Bryan?.” Ace spoke first.

My eyes stayed fixed on the face of the man who cheated on me and left me for dead in my past life.

And now judging from what Carter said earlier, he was not a good person in this world either.

Some things never change.

“Don't bother her, Ace she must be exhausted and tired. Everything that has happened today is weighing her down. Isn't that so, Annabelle?.”

I couldn't bring myself to respond as I couldn't believe that I was standing face to face with Bryan in another world but still I couldn't have my revenge.

I felt Ace gently nudge me.

“Annabelle, don't be rude. Say hello to uncle Damien.”

Never. Over my dead body.

“Excuse me. I need to use the restroom.” I said instead.

I'm sure they must be thinking I'm rude but that is the least of my worries now.

I couldn't breathe back there.

Thoughts and images of my past life attacked my vision and dragged me back to that cursed day.

I gripped the edge of the counter as I tried to steady my breathing. It was difficult.

“I knew I'd find you here, Anna.”

I jumped in shock and turned to see Carter standing behind me.

“I didn't hear you come in. What are you doing in the ladies room? Someone can see you here.”

“I don't fucking care. What the hell did you do back there?.”

“What are you talking about?.”

“Don't play dumb with me! Play time's over, Annabelle! Why did you disrupt the plan!.” He yells at me while grabbing my arm.

“Carter, let go. You're hurting me.”

“I'm not even started yet. Seems like you've forgotten what I'm capable of doing. You've forgotten who I am.”

(FMO)Chapter 25Annabelle (A Night Together)“You're not brothers?” I repeated carefully. “Of course not. How could I be related to that idiot? If you haven't noticed, we don't look alike.” He said rather harshly. That's true. I've wondered how they could be so different yet be siblings. Now there's an answer for that. They're not really brothers by blood. “So that means that?....” “I'm adopted. I've known ever since I was little. That prick downstairs showed me my adoption papers on my fifth birthday. Fucking idiot.” He cussed. “I'm so—” He held up his palm to silence me. “Save it. I'm not a child. I don't need your sympathy to know that someone cares for me. My parents loved me and my grandparents adored me. I'm good.” No, Ace. I know you're not. You're not okay and you're hurting inside. It's obvious you want to know your birth parents and probably ask them some questions. Why would anybody even give up their baby?“What do you need? I'm leaving. We can't exactly sleep in

  • Fool Me Once    Defending Carter

(FMO)Chapter 24 Ace (Defending Carter) “Are you sure?” I mean, if you're giving the man you always accuse of trying to take advantage of you an open invitation to a free show of watching you shower then I must be sure that you want me to be here so you don't get to play the victim later. She nodded without thinking twice. Fuck. “Okay.” “Thank you.” She placed her hand on the white sheets she had wrapped around her body and I turned around immediately. I have no intentions of tempting myself that way. I don't need to make this any weirder than it is. I heard the sound of the sheets as it fell to the ground beside my feet then the sound of the shower running. Throughout the time she was taking a shower I had my back to her but knowing exactly what I was turning a blind eye and my back to had my pants growing tighter. Fuck. I never should have agreed to this. “Ace? Can you pass me the towel?” Shit I released a breath as I picked up a fresh towel beside me and I ext

  • Fool Me Once    Please Stay

(FMO)Chapter 23Sophia (Please Stay)“Ace, wait you completely misunderstood—” He wasn't allowed to finish his statement as Ace pounced on him and pulled him away from me in a flash. Using the last ounce of strength in me, I crawled backwards to the side of the bed to cover my naked body with the sheets. It's way too embarrassing that they both already saw me like this.Ace was on top of Carter and landing punches on his face in anger. “That's my wife!” Punch. “Not one of your playthings!” Carter groaned in pain as I saw blood trickling down the side of his face as I curled myself into a ball on the ground and held the sheets around me tightly. “It's not what it looks like, Ace.” The bastard said. Ace's face was filled with rage. “Not what it looks like?!” He screamed in his brother's face.”You had your fucking dick out behind her! She was fucking pleading with you! Why does that sound like to you! Were you trying to fuck my wife, Carter?! You were supposed to be my brother!” He

  • Fool Me Once    Lifesaver

(FMO)Chapter 22Sophia (Lifesaver)“Carter.” “I've been waiting for you.” I hadn't seen him since that night of my wedding. And now, he's sitting comfortably on my bed with his legs crossed at the knees. No no no no no. This cannot be happening. I took a step back and his stupid hawk eyes caught that. He wagged a finger in my direction. “Don't you dare.” I halted on the spot. “What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be here. Ace is going to get angry if he sees you here. Please go.” I pleaded with him. There's really no point in pissing him off now. There's only the two of us here in this house and Ace is still at the beach with his mistress. They'll probably be there for a long time. There was a criminal glint in his eyes as he stood up from the bed and marched to where I was standing beside the door and pushed me backwards until my back collided with the door. He caged me between the door and his body and leaned in to take a whiff of my neck. “I've missed you.” He wh

  • Fool Me Once    A Surprise

(FMO)Chapter 21Sophia (A Surprise)The last three days have passed with me not knowing how they went by so fast because of how isolated I have become. Ace hasn't said much to me except the usual good morning and how's your foot. Or for a change, the ‘pass me the salt’ when we had dinner with Goldie and Peter . I don't think he has ever looked me in the face since that day. He's still very angry with me and honestly, I don't blame him. I caused this. What I said was very mean and very harsh but still being a decent human being and the bigger person, Ace has taken care of my leg dutifully as if it was his fault that it happened in the first place. Not that it was though. I caused that too. He never says a word to me when he is inspecting my injured foot but just works in absolute silence. I never thought I'd say this but I hate this coldness. It makes me feel small and unseen. Maybe because the real me is used to being the center of attention as grandpa's little princess and the

  • Fool Me Once    What Have I Done?

(FMO)Chapter 20Annabelle (What Have I Done?)The pain from whatever had stung me had me dripping to the ground and grabbing onto my foot as sharp bouts of pain coursed through my foot.Ace was by my side in a second, inspecting my foot with a frown before turning sharply to me. “I warned you, didn't I?! Why don't you ever listen?” His anger was evident. “Is this really the time for this? It hurts, Ace.” A tear slipped from my eyes. I heard him mumble something inherently before he came to sound tall in front of me with angry eyes looking down at me on the ground. He looked around the beach suspiciously as if searching for something. “Ace.” My voice trembled with fear when his hand began undoing the string on his loose-fitting beach pants. What was he trying to do? I crawled a step away from him when his pants came loose at the strings. “Ace, what is going on?” I was so scared that I could cry at this point. He didn't answer and neither did he tear his eyes away from me as his
