Olivia's POV
I ran. As fast as my legs could carry me. If I were a strong wolf, it would have been a different thing, but the strength of my wolf was barely any different from the strength of a human. The sounds of the guards were getting closer, and I knew that if I didn't do anything soon, I would be caught and a date worse than death awaited Elana and me. My heart was scared for her and I found myself worried. “I think she went over there.” I heard one of the guards yell in the direction that I was running in. I quickened my pace and soon found a waterfall. I hid at the back and waited for a while, the water should be able to mask my scent until the guards had given up on their search or at least changed directions. “I don't think so. We should go back to the palace. It's already late, and you know how close this is to the Lycan borders. We don't want their crazy mysterious animal king to hurt us.” another one said, and I was relieved that they were changing course. After I had waited for another thirty minutes to one hour, I carefully made my way out of the waterfall and tried to climb so I could also find a way to hide from the lycans. Just as I set my foot on a steep wrong, I missed my step and was sent tumbling head first into the water. The last thing I remembered was the muffled sound escaping from my mouth and then tasting the metallic feel of my own blood mixed with salty water. When I regained consciousness, I was in a room. It was one of the most beautiful rooms that I had ever seen, but somehow it didn't feel strange. I felt so strongly that I had been in this room before. The blinding lights caused a wave of headache to hit me as I tried to sort out my thoughts and adjust my eyes to the brightness of the room. The door suddenly opened and a very handsome man with a tanned face came in. “Oh, miss. You are finally awake. I am truly pleased about that,” he said, immediately he noticed that I was awake. “Where am I? What happened? How did I end up….” “One question at a time, miss. You haven't changed one bit Mistress.” the man said, I looked at him shocked. He didn't sound like he was a stranger to me. “Do I know you from somewhere?” I asked him, my heart nearly jumping out of my chest. “Yes you do, but you'll understand that later. It is not in my place to tell you the truth about the questions you ask me.” he responded calmly, leaving me more confused than I was. “Where am I?” I asked him, willing myself to not ask a barrage of questions like before. “You are home. Next question.” he asked. “What's your name?” I asked him. “I am Alexander.” he answered curtly. “How did I get here?” I asked him, genuinely concerned about that. I silently hoped that the guards from my lack had not found me after I fell in the water and taken me here. At the thought of my fall in the water, my hands instinctively reached for my head, and I found that it had been heavily bandaged. “You were found floating in the water by the edge of the pack, our alpha found you and brought you here.” he explained, and I heaved a sigh of relief. “Oh.” the sound escaped from my lips, barely more than a whisper. “I advise that you do not leave your room or go anywhere. You might find the environment slightly hostile, just be patient.” he said, but the look on his face made me feel that it wasn't just the environment that he had been talking about. “Thank you.” I replied, too scared to ask him anything else for fear of what would happen. As soon as he left, I got up and looked around for the nearest possible escape. The door wasn't locked, which made it a lot easier for me to leave the confines of my room. I was definitely in a palace because this was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. I was almost changing my mind, but the uncertainty of the fate that awaited me if I stayed made me want to leave. I made my way to what, I thought, was the entrance, but it only turned out to be the kitchen. I heard sounds and immediately hid behind a counter. Several servants dressed up, and they looked like they were delivering food for a special occasion. “The alpha has never wanted to kill something so big to celebrate. This must be truly special.” I heard one of the servants say, and a cold chill ran up my spine. The alpha was planning to kill me. Elana's sacrifice had been in vain, as it now looked like I was being dealt the same fate as I had been in my pack. The only thing that was different was I was not going to sit back and watch myself get treated badly anymore. I got up and continued on my escape, stopping at intervals to steady myself whenever the wave of dizziness hit me. When I finally managed to go outside, there was a frenzy of activity going on, and I wondered what the festival was that made them even want to kill me for it. Finding my way to the back of the house, I tried climbing the fence, but I couldn't. I looked around for a tree that was close to the fence and eventually found one. I managed to climb it, cutting my hand with the sharp edge of a rock. “Shit.” I cursed. I felt a sweet scent hit my nose, followed by a strong pull that nearly knocked me down the tree. “Mate” I heard my wolf growl with a strength that I had never heard before. I felt myself dizzying out again. “Took you long enough to find me.” I heard a man's voice just before everything went black.Chapter 106Augustus's POV Something was wrong. I could feel Olivia trying to reach me but whatever I did, it didn't connect us back together. Elana was as helpless as I was, especially since we picked up the strong scent of Alexander. I wanted to be sure, but the scent had been unmistakable. “Do you really think the Brandon's will have the guts to come back for her after what transpired the last time?” Elana asked me. I could have sworn that I knew the exact answer to that a while ago, now I wasn't even sure of anything. My thoughts were chaotic and everywhere, the most confusing of all being Alexander. “Whatever they dared to do, I will make sure that they never do it again. What is really bothering me is Alexander. He is not supposed to be alive. How come his scent was so strong back at the house?” I asked her, not necessarily looking for an answer because I was sure that she had the same question on her mind. “Are you sure that it wasn't just someone who had the same scent as
Chapter 105Olivia's POV “You fucking bitch!” Alexander yelled as he yanked me off his arms angrily. The sheer force of his pull threw me unbalanced as I was sent staggering across the room. I spat the blood and flesh out of my mouth, my heart hardened as I felt nothing. He yelled at me as I closed my eyes and waited for whatever came next.“You stupid woman! To think I thought that you were calm? Now, I am going to treat you just like I have treated the others before you” he said and lunged for me. My head was slammed into the wall and I saw stars. He was going to kill me, I could see the murder glaze in his eyes and knew that it was either I let him kill me or fight with everything I have for my life. “You can't kill me. Augustus will hunt you down and have your head” I managed to say as I struggled to pry his fingers off my neck. “Then you must be foolish. Foolish enough to think that Augustus is not touchable. I will take care of you, after which I will take my rightful place
Chapter 104Augustus's POV “I am only going to ask you one more time, Alpha Brandon, where is Olivia? Where is my wife?” I bellowed at the two figures in front of me. They were both shivering and looked like they had not expected this to happen even though I wondered why. Nile had given them up so easily, and I knew they would have noticed that. “We don't know, we swear. We won't be foolish to lie to you” Alpha Brandon responded, but I knew immediately that he was lying. I slapped him squarely across the face, pissed off that he thought I was someone he could mess around with.“Oh please, let my poor husband go. Nile lied to you. We did go to him, but he refused to let her come with us, we wanted to contact you, but we didn't want you to think that we had anything to do with it” the Luna said as the tears rolled down her eyes, but I didn't care. They were lying and everyone in this room knew it. I pulled out a dagger from my waist band and brandished it in front of the two old peop
Chapter 103Olivia's POVMy breath caught in my throat, he was definitely the last person that I had expected to see here. He was supposed to be dead, I saw his body with his face chewed up. Augustus had been so heartbroken with the whole thing. I was so confused. A lot was not making sense to me right now. “Don't look so surprised. You didn't think I would be that cheap to kill, did you?” He asked, his teeth glistening in the hot afternoon sun. I was so angry, each movement of his aggravating me. “How…how could you do this to him?” I asked, my emotions pouring into every word I said. “Do this to whom? The same man who threw me in jail because of you? I have been with that sick bastard for several lifetimes and each time, he has discarded me because of some woman he kept hoping would be you” he said, the anger evident in his voice as I had never heard him use that tone before. He had always been so sweet to me, I wondered what had changed and how he had become so bitter with a man
Chapter 102Olivia's POV “Father” I asked, not believing my eyes. The last thing I remembered was Nile dragging me out to the forest and telling me that he was going to leave me to be feasted upon by wild animals. He had injected me with something that immediately made me feel sleepy. Now, opening my eyes I was shocked to find myself in a place that I knew too much. It was my former pack, a place that I had run away from, disgraced and hurt. The one place that I never wanted to go back to. How had this happened? I asked myself. “Don't you dare call him that!” I heard my fake mother's voice and realized that these people were not my friends, they didn't love me. They are my enemies. I had to start seeing them in that light. “Well, I won't. To think that I forgot and bestowed such honor on the two of you” I snapped at him and Alpha Brandon slapped me. I felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood. “You are still arrogant? After you had us thrown ou
Chapter 101Augustus's POV I crawled my way up the hill, making sure that none of my movements made more sounds than a whisper. The plan had to work, I needed to be sure that Elana had not been right about her suspicion, I didn't know what I would do to Nile if I found out that he had anything to do with the disappearance of my wife. Wife. The word sounded in my eyes. Olivia wasn't just my mate bound to me by the moon goddess, she was also my wife, bound to me by the laws of the kingdom in front of everyone we ruled over. It was different now, and I realized that I could not let her leave me. No matter how great I thought her being away for now, I knew her place was right beside me. Even all those lifetimes ago, she had captured my heart in ways that I didn't think was possible and every time I had to go back to Ariel, all that had consumed my mind at the end of the day was the explosive time I had with the other woman. The same man I now had a chance to be with after 999 lifetime
