"Bianca Valenti."

Matteo Rossini frowned. His voice was laced with a warning edge.

When I ignored him, the room fell into an awkward silence. Guests exchanged awkward glances and seemed unsure what to do.

Just then, Isabella Ginevra let out a soft laugh.

"Look at how our mindless joking actually got to our Donna."

She raised her glass toward me and gave a slight bow. "I apologize on their behalf, Donna. Your wedding to Don Rossini was the talk of the town. We've all seen how much he treasures you."

Matteo nodded along. "You're taking this too seriously, Bianca."

His words felt like a needle driving straight into my heart. My expression hardened as I looked straight into his eyes. "I'm being completely serious, Matteo."

He sighed, then glanced at his watch. "Let's end the party here for today."

The guests exchanged glances as they reluctantly filed out, their glances suggesting that I had spoiled the party.

Isabella was the last to leave. She pulled a file from her bag and handed it to Matteo.

"This is everything I gathered on the Castelli Famiglia's arms business. It took quite a bit of effort to get my hands on this."

Matteo's expression softened, and he gave her a smile. "Thanks. I'll have Fabio send you some jewelry later."

"I don't need that," she abruptly cut him off before reaching up to pat him lightly on the shoulder.

Then, she laughed. "You know what I want."

The blatant intimacy made me sway and knock over a wine glass. Only then did the crash seem to snap Matteo awake and bid Isabella a short goodbye.

Soon, the room was empty except for the two of us.

He glanced at my wine-stained dress and pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket.

The man everyone had just admired as the Don now knelt before me and gently wiped the hem of my dress.

"This is your favorite dress, isn't it? Why'd you let it get stained?"

His voice was calm and gentle, but it made my nose sting.

I brushed his hand away and turned toward the bedroom. But before I could take more than a few steps forward, he grabbed me and pulled me into his arms.

His warm breath brushed my neck as he held me tightly, as if for fear that I would escape.

"Behave, Bianca. Stop making a scene."

He pressed me against the table, murmuring "I love you" over and over into my ear.

It was the scene I once fantasized about—him reaching the pinnacle of power and declaring his love for me at the highest point of his glory. But why… couldn't I smile?

That night, he claimed me again and again, and I cried every single time. My body throbbed with pain, and my heart felt like it was shredded by the memories of everything that had happened at the party.

After it ended, he stepped onto the balcony and lit a cigar. I thought I heard a low chuckle.

"Yeah, she's calmed down.

"You know her. She's always been sensible."

I slowly opened my eyes and tightened my grip on the bedsheet.

"Tomorrow, I'm taking her to the ski resort for a vacation. I'll send a car to pick you up then.

"I still need to talk to you about the Castelli Famiglia. You know how much of a handful they are."

The call didn't last long. When Matteo came back in, he leaned down and kissed my forehead, just like he always did.

I kept my eyes closed and felt the kiss, but the thorn in my heart only dug deeper.

"Pull over," I coldly said. When Enzo compliantly pulled to the curb, Matteo immediately hopped off his Porsche and rushed over. After ripping my door open, he dragged me out by the arm. "Explain, Bianca! What the hell is this?"I slapped him hard in the face and snapped, "What right do you have to question me, Matteo?"The force of the slap was immense, and his cheek immediately reddened. As he wiped the blood from the corner of his lips, his eyes were bloodshot, and his voice shook. "Did you just slap me?""So? Is that a problem?" I said, shooting him a cold look. "Right now, you're just a Don whose Famiglia is about to collapse, while I'm the Principessa of the prestigious Valenti Famiglia. "A slap is nothing. I can even take your life without breaking a sweat."He froze and looked like he'd just remembered that those were almost the exact words he had said to me.The rage in his eyes dissipated a little, but when he caught sight of Enzo in the car, his expression remai

The moment the words left my lips, Isabella was so terrified that she collapsed to her knees with a heavy thud. Crying hysterically, she grabbed Matteo's calves. "I'm sorry, Don Rossini, but I had no choice. Enzo held a gun to my head, and I didn't want to die… I wanted to live!"Matteo's expression was ghastly, but Isabella was far too gone to notice. She kept wailing, "Don't worry! I didn't reveal anything important, and everything I said was fake! It won't harm the Famiglia at all!""Enough!"Matteo's roar cut through her hysterics. His chest heaved violently, and his rage was palpable. It wasn't just him; every person in the room looked at Isabella with sheer disbelief.A heavy silence hung in the air for a full minute before Papa's cold, mocking chuckle finally broke it. He shook his head and said, "Just as I thought. Even if a fool becomes the Don, he'll never last."In the span of moments, Papa's insults seemed to shred Matteo over, but he couldn't fight back or throw

Matteo whipped around as one of the guards couldn't help blurting out, "C-Could it really be the Donna's Padre?""Impossible," Isabella immediately snapped. "A man with his meager influence couldn't possibly breach the gates. I bet it's the Castellis!"Matteo's expression immediately darkened. He grabbed my chin and hissed through gritted teeth, "What exactly did you tell them to make them bold enough to storm Tenuta Ombra, Bianca?"I looked at him and could feel my heart completely freeze over. "Matteo, I'll say this one last time—I'm not the one who leaked your secrets."He faltered. "If it isn't you, who else could it be?"I let out a soft laugh and looked past him at Isabella, whose face had gone deathly pale. Fabio barked, "What are you implying? Ms. Ginevra's always been the Famiglia's most trusted asset; she'd never betray us!""Exactly! If it were her, the Castellis would've struck ages ago. Why would they wait until now?""Sounds like a thief crying thief to me!"Jus

Matteo arrived just in time to hear my last words. His eyes fell on Isabella's swollen face, and his gaze immediately turned cold. "Bianca, do you realize the consequences of what you've done?""Consequences?"I let out a short laugh. "When my Padre gets here, you'll understand the consequences of locking me up."At the mention of Papa, Matteo looked at me like he'd just heard the funniest joke of the century. "Your Padre? Are you talking about the dairy merchant?"Bianca, I think you've lived in luxury for so long that you can't even tell what real power looks like anymore."I looked at their arrogant expressions and quietly announced, "My Padre is Vincenzo Valenti, Don of the Valenti Mafia Famiglia."The moment the words left my mouth, laughter broke out around me.Fabio couldn't help but chime in, "Vincenzo Valenti? Just because you share the last name doesn't mean you can claim him as your Padre!"Do you even know how he is? He's a man even Don Rossini has a hard time meet

"Divorce?" Matteo frowned deeply. "We're talking about you betraying the Famiglia right now. Don't change the subject, and tell me how much you have revealed to the Castellis."I let out a self-mocking laugh. "I haven't told them a single thing."He impatiently rubbed the bridge of his nose and said, "My patience has its limits, Bianca."Isabella soothingly patted his back. "Don Rossini, the Donna probably doesn't know many inside details anyway, so she couldn't have leaked anything important."If she refuses to confess, I'll find a way to extract the truth from the Castellis myself. Trust me."Matteo's expression eased slightly, but the way he looked at me was still cold. He called Fabio over. "Lock her up. No one lets her out without my permission."As Fabio strode toward me with a smug look, my first reaction wasn't anger. Instead, it was relief. This was the final nail in the coffin that killed any lingering feelings I had for Matteo."Don't bother. I'll go myself."Matt
