Chapter 3

Author: Window Crane
Fiona's parents, Henry Geller and Carrie Fraser, came at dinner time.

"Good boy. You've suffered these days." Henry patted Phillip's shoulder. "You've put in a lot of effort to leave Freda a child."

"Don't say that, Henry. I love Freda the most. I'm willing to do it for her and the Geller family." Phillip looked sad, but his eyes wandered toward Fiona.

"Fortunately, we have Fiona." Carrie held her daughter's hand. "We must leave a child for Freda."

I ate my meal silently, my heart feeling like it had been torn apart.

"Timothy is such a good man." Phillip suddenly looked at me. "Not every husband can be so... tolerant."

He deliberately emphasized the word 'tolerant', his eyes full of mockery.

Carrie glanced at me coldly. "Timothy has no talent, but he's obedient."

Fiona immediately defended me, saying, "Mom, don't say that. Timothy is hardworking."

Henry scoffed. "Hardworking? What can a normal employee provide for you, Fiona? Phillip drives a Ferrari and lives in a villa, while Timothy can't even afford a decent watch."

I clenched my fists. Due to my special identity, I had not told them my real job, but the money I transferred to them every month had never been less.

"Dad, speak less," Fiona advised before turning to me. "Honey, my dad's just outspoken. Don't take it to heart."

I put down my cutlery. "I have to go."

Henry roared, "Sit down! Who told you to leave?"

"There's something urgent at work."

"What sort of urgent matters could there be at a run-down private company?" Carrie scoffed. "You're just a lowly employee. How dare you say there's something urgent?"

"Let me give you a ride." Phillip suddenly stood up. "I was going out anyway."

I wanted to refuse, but Henry said, "That's great. Timothy, you can learn a lot from your brother-in-law."

Sitting in Phillip's luxury car, I was tense.

Phillip said as he drove, "Timothy, are you alright? You don't look too good."

I was silent.

"You know what?" Phillip glanced at me through the rearview mirror. "Fiona feels really good."

My blood froze instantly.

"Even though she and Freda are twins, they feel completely different." He licked his lips. "Freda's wilder, and Fiona's gentler."

"Shut up!" I gritted my teeth.

"What? Angry?" Phillip laughed. "I was just sharing my experience with you."

"It's a pity Freda's dead, or I'd really like to try having a threesome. Timothy, have you tried? Of course, with your abilities, you probably couldn't even satisfy one."

I jumped up and punched him in the face. Phillip was caught off guard, and blood gushed from his nose.

"Have you lost your mind?" he roared, clutching his nose.

Instead of answering, I threw another punch. Years of special forces training had given me reflexes and strength far beyond that of ordinary people. Although Phillip was tall and strong, he was like a child in front of me.

"You'll regret this." He glared at me, his eyes filled with malice.

After settling my parents' well-being, I returned home. Fiona's figure was nowhere to be seen in the empty house. I sat on the couch, reflecting on the past five years. From an energetic special forces soldier to a live-in son-in-law. From a humiliated loser to a hero returning to the unit. The ups and downs of life made me understand what true value was.Personal gains and losses seemed insignificant compared to the greater cause of the country.Just as I was lost in my thoughts, the phone rang. It was the commanding officer from my unit. The commanding officer's voice was still authoritative. "Skywolf, how are your considerations going? The unit needs you. New situations have arisen on the borders. We need experienced commanders."I took a deep breath and answered without hesitation, "Sir, Skywolf requests to rejoin!""Good! Set off tomorrow!" The officer's voice carried a sense of relief.…The next day, I put on my long-unused military uniform. The medals on my chest gleame

The day after the verdict, I was at the hospital taking care of my parents. Their conditions had stabilized after treatment. However, their heart function was still damaged, and they needed long-term recuperation.Just then, the ward door was pushed open. Several middle-aged men in suits walked in. The one in the lead was a stern man with a badge on his chest."Are you Mr. Timothy Silton?" he asked seriously.I stood up and replied, "Yes." "I'm Alan Wuther from the municipal committee. I've heard so much about you!" He extended his hand.I was a little surprised as I shook his hand. "Hello, Mr. Wuther."Alan replied gently, "Mr. Silton, we have come to visit you and your parents. The government was deeply moved after learning about your achievements. You're a hero of our country!"He turned to my parents on the bed. "You two have raised a good son! He's the pride of our country!"My father was so excited that he could not say a word. My mother had tears in her eyes. "Sir, you'

Trial began. I sat in the spectators' section in court, watching Fiona and Phillip on the defendant's bench.Fiona had lost a lot of weight, and her face was haggard. She had lost her former radiance.Phillip was even more disheveled. His blond hair was messy, and his eyes were filled with despair. The judge solemnly declared, "Now, the verdict! Defendant Fiona Geller, convicted of tax evasion, money laundering, and bribery, is sentenced to 15 years in prison! Defendant Phillip Stanton, convicted of the same charges, plus the crime of illegally transferring assets, is sentenced to 20 years in prison. He will be deported after serving his sentence!"The gavel struck, and everything was settled.Fiona slumped in her chair, her eyes filled with despair. She turned to look at me with pleading in her eyes. "Timothy... Timothy, help me..."I looked at her expressionlessly and did not give any response. This was the price of betraying a hero. The bailiff stepped forward and put handcuf

The rapid footsteps drew nearer, and soon, the office door was pushed open again. Several police officers rushed in."Police! Don't move!" the leading police officer shouted. As if grasping a lifeline, Fiona immediately pointed at me. "Officers, they broke into my office and threatened me!""Yes! They brought a lot of people. I want to report them!" Phillip also shouted. The police officer looked at us and then at the disheveled two. "What's going on?"I calmly took out a USB drive from my pocket. "Officer, I want to report Geller Group and Phillip Stanton's Owl Investment Company for tax evasion, tax fraud, and other illegal acts.""What?" Fiona's face paled instantly."Impossible! How could you have evidence?" Phillip shouted in terror. The police officer took the USB drive, inserted it into the computer, and began to check. Soon, his expression became serious."This evidence..." He looked at the files on the screen in shock. The amount of tax evasion was up to tens of bill

I led five squad members, including Quentin Wimble, straight to Fiona's company. The black military SUV was parked downstairs at the company, catching the attention of passers-by. We were dressed in casual clothes, but our military aura could not be concealed.Entering the hall, the receptionist recognized me at once. "Hey, is that you, Timothy?"She chuckled under her breath. "Mr. Live-In Son-in-Law, how did you find time to come to the company?"The surrounding employees heard the commotion and gathered around."It's him, the loser who lets his wife have children with another man.""Seriously? He looks normal to me.""You didn't see the photos in the group chat? It's him!"The receptionist stopped me smugly. "Mr. Silton, Ms. Geller is very busy right now and has no time to see you.""Move aside," I said coldly. She answered sarcastically, "Oh, don't be so harsh. Although you're Ms. Geller's husband, you're just... a live-in son-in-law, after all."She deliberately emphasiz

I sat in the hospital corridor, watching the shining red light above the emergency room. My parents were still inside, being rescued. However, there was nothing I could do.Closing my eyes, memories flooded back like a tide.Five years ago, I was the captain of the elite special forces. My code name was Skywolf. Back then, I was the terror feared by all enemies. I remembered my nervousness during my first mission.Deep inside the enemy territory, I sneaked into the terrorist base alone. Bullets whizzed past my ears, and blood stained my camouflage uniform. However, I did not back down. That night, I silently slit the throat of a sentry with my dagger and rescued 37 hostages. After the mission, my teammates surrounded me to celebrate."Skywolf is amazing!""All hail the captain!"That feeling of being trusted by my comrades and serving my country was the proudest moment of my life.Later on, the missions became increasingly dangerous. During a counterattack at the border, I led
