The silence that followed was only broken by the sound of his own ragged breathing. "Mei, no... please wake up! Open your eyes it's me lian" Lian's desperate cry shook his entire house. He was holding the limp form of his sister whose body was already cold and looked pale. She was identical to him. The only difference was that her hair was longer and she was dressed in a feminine clothes. His parents rushed into the room, their faces frozen in horror. "Mei! Oh God, no!" his mother wailed, collapsing beside Mei's body checking her pulse. Her eyes widened in horror because she could feel a single pulse on her. Lian's father stood paralyzed, his eyes fixed on Mei's lifeless form. "This can't be happening," he whispered, his voice trembling. He stretched his arms and yawned, feeling a sense of disorientation. As he sat up in bed, he saw Cheng standing by the window, sipping a glass of tequila. How can someone be having tequila this morning? Cheng's eyes met Lian's, and he smiled. "Good morning, Mei," Cheng said, his voice low and husky. "Did you sleep well?" Lian stared at him, still feeling a bit dazed. He looked around the room, trying to remember where he was and how he got there. Cheng walked over to the bed and s

As Lian soaked in the warm bath, the scent of lavender and chamomile wafted through the air, attempting to calm his frazzled nerves. The sound of gently lapping water against the tub's edges created a soothing melody, but Lian's mind refused to quiet down. Jin's presence outside the bathroom door was a constant reminder that he was being watched, that his every move was being monitored.Lian closed his eyes and tried to relax, letting the warmth seep into his bones. But his mind kept wandering back to his life as a pretender. How long could he keep up this charade? Would he ever be able to conceal his true identity for long? The thought of being discovered sent a shiver down his spine.Thinking about it made Lian suddenly overwhelmed, so he decided to push away such thoughts for now. He focused on the sensation of the water, the smell of the bath salts, and the soft hum of the ventilation system. But his thoughts inevitably drifted back to his family, wondering if he would ever see th

As Cheng and Mei walked through the crowd, whispers and murmurs followed them. Vivian's friends, Ava and Sophie, stood off to the side, their eyes fixed on Mei."Ugh, look at her," Ava said, her voice dripping with disdain. "She thinks she's so perfect with that fake smile and designer dress.""I know, right?" Sophie replied, rolling her eyes. "And just take a look as she's clingy with Cheng. It's like she's trying to prove something."Vivian's eyes narrowed as she watched Mei. She couldn't stand the way Mei seemed to effortlessly charm everyone in the room."She's just so... artificial," Ava continued, her voice full of venom. "I mean, who wears a necklace worth millions to a party?"Sophie snorted. "Yeah, and she's probably got a fake personality to match that fake smile."Vivian's anger simmered just below the surface. "You know, I wonder what Cheng sees in her that he didn't choose me, that bitch wouldn't know what's about to hit her so hard very soon" Vivian said, her voice low a

His mask glinted under the exposed bulb swinging above, black as midnight, still as death.Rambo stood beside him, expression carved from granite. Matteo knelt by the man strapped to the steel chair—bloodied, shaking, but still breathing.“Fifteen minutes,” the Phoenix said flatly. “Still alive.”Rambo grunted. “He’s tougher than he looks.”“He’s wasting my time,” the Phoenix replied, voice like ice poured into a glass. “Matteo?”Matteo didn’t respond—he didn’t need to. I already told you everything!”Matteo pressed the tip of the knife to the man’s shoulder. “Not the part w
