Chapter Five

Chapter Five

Ginny’s Point of View

I groaned loudly, my head was pounding! I had the weirdest dream, but it seemed so read. Of course, it wasn’t... Vampires didn’t exist. I tried to raise my hand to rub my eyes, but I couldn’t. My eyes flew open and I looked around.

I had no idea where the hell I was. Nothing looked familiar, everything was dark. I looked down at my wrists, I was tied down.

I started to panic and thrash against the table I was laying on. This can’t be happening, this is just a dream, it's just a dream. I kept repeating that over and over, trying to comfort myself, but I couldn’t deny it when the facts were clear...

It wasn’t a dream. It was real.

Fresh panic and fear overwhelmed me and I let out a loud, blood-curdling scream.

As soon as I did, I realised... I probably shouldn’t alert that creep to the fact I was awake, god knows what he was planning to do to me! I waited a few seconds, trying to listen for any induction that he had heard me and he was coming, but there was complete and utter silence.

I tried to look around and see something, anything, that would help me get out of this, but the room was completely empty except for what I was laying on.

‘I’ve been waiting for you to wake up. It's about time you did’. I suddenly heard a voice and froze. My eyes once again darted around the room, before they landed in a shadow in the corner. Had he been there the whole time? Watching me?

‘Where am I?!’ I demanded.

‘I told you, you belong to me now. This is your new home’.

‘My new home?! What the fuck is wrong with you?! Let me go!’. He stepped out of the shadows and it was the creep from before. The… the vampire. No, No, this was ridiculous. There is no such thing as vampires. It was all just mind games.

‘Is that what you really think, human? We don’t exist?’ Wait.. did I say that out loud? No, I’m sure I didn’t... But how did he know what I was thinking?

Within a blink of an eye, he stood in front of me and I screamed.

‘I assure you, we DO exist!’. My panic started to bubble up again and he let out a loud, sinister laugh that echoed off the walls. I struggled against my bounds and he noticed, looking down in one swift movement, they were gone and I was free to move.

I took a few deep breaths and pushed him away, getting off the table and bolting to the door, praying it wasn’t locked. It wasn’t and I yanked it open and ran out, screaming for help. I had no idea where I was or how to get out of here, but I just kept following the corridor until I reached a step of large stone steps and headed up them.

I kept looking over my shoulder, making sure he wasn’t following me and thankfully, he wasn’t. I missed a step and fell, scraping my knees and hitting my chin on the corner of the stone step. I hissed in pain and touched it to make sure I was ok. It throbbed, sore, and when I pulled my hand away, I noticed blood on my fingers.

Great.

Knowing I needed to get up and keep running, I got to my feet again and started running again. Reaching the top, and ran into a big open foyer of what looked like a mansion, I realised that I must have been underground.

I scanned, trying to find the front door but when I did and headed for it, HE appeared and grabbed me, throwing me to the floor.

‘Just leave me alone! I haven’t done anything!’. I screamed, tears starting to stream down my cheeks. ‘Let me go!’

‘No’. He grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet with such force that I thought he would pull my arm from my shoulder, and started pulling me in the opposite direction to the door. I screamed again, begging someone to come and help me but no one was around.

..would anyone help me anyway?

He was so confident, It made me feel that this wasn’t his first time doing… whatever this was. I tried to pull my arm free a few times, but he had such a strong grip on me, I just couldn’t.

As he pulled me further and deeper into the house, I realised we weren’t going back to the basement. I had no idea where we were going. Turning a corner, I could hear voices, multiple voices and let out the loudest scream I could;

‘HELP ME!!!!!! SOMEONE HELP ME!’ seconds later someone appeared.

‘Cole, What’s all this noise?’ he questioned before their eyes landed on me. ‘Whos this?’ He asked with what seemed like a friendly smile.

‘It doesn’t concern you, Constantine. Why don't you go and find Belle’.

‘Cole, Grow up.’ That was all he said before he turned and walked away again. Who was that? Why wasn’t he helping me?!

‘Coleeee, Coleeeee, Guess what?!’ That voice... It sounded so familiar. I peered around to see who it was and saw that little girl from the park. What was she doing here? Her smile grew as soon as she saw me. ‘Ginny! Cole, it's Ginny!’. She exclaimed excitedly.

‘Yes, it is, Why don’t you go and find Constantine, Maggie, he will help you with what you need’.

‘Why is Ginny here?’ They were talking about me like I wasn’t even here. He knelt down in front of her and lowered his voice as if trying to talk a little more privately. I couldn’t hear everything he said, but I did hear that he would explain it to her later and for her to go and find her brother. She shot me another look before reluctantly leaving.

As soon as she was gone, He whipped around and glared at me.

‘You keep your mouth shut from now on, You scream once more, I will snap your neck’. I took his threat seriously and nodded, agreeing. He grabbed my wrist again, a little too hard and started dragging me to our destination.

My wrist was throbbing, his grip seemingly tightening up more. I bit the inside of my cheek, willing myself not to make a noise.

Eventually, we arrived at a big door. I wanted to ask what the fuck was going on, but I didn’t dare.

‘This will be your room. You don’t leave this room unless you are working or you have been asked for. You will wear a uniform, You will behave, if you attempt to run away, you will be punished. This is the only house for miles, you won’t get far. If I don’t find you, there are things in the surrounding woods that will. Trust me, you don’t want to run into them’. I swallowed the lump in my throat. I'm sure he was just trying to scare me… but it was working. ‘Understand?’

‘Y-yes’. He unlocked the door and pushed it open, inside was pitch black...

When I didn’t move to make an attempt to enter, he signed and grabbed my hair, making yelp and pushed me through the door, into the room, slamming the door behind me. I heard him relock it and started to panic again. I couldn’t see anything. The whole room was in complete darkness.

I used my hands, feeling my way along the walls, trying to find a light switch. It took me a few minutes, but when I did, I flipped it and instantly the room lit up with a harsh bright white. I whined and covered my face until I was able to stand the light and took a look around.

In the harsh new light, I could clearly see what my ‘’new life’’ was made up of. A small, single bed in the corner of the bare room. The only other piece of furniture was a stool with a lamp. That was it. On top of the bed were a pretty horrible looking duvet and a single flat pillow. That wasn’t going to be comfortable at all...

There was a second door and I went over to see what was in there. Pulling the door open a little, I peeked in and saw a toilet, sink and a very small bath…

Well, at least I had a bathroom.

Wait, what was I saying?! THIS WAS INSANE! He can’t keep me here like this! He wasn’t a vampire, he couldn’t be a vampire but... What other explanation was there for everything that I’ve seen of him so far?!

Were vampires really, really… real?!

Cole's Point of View

After locking the human in her new room, I didn’t trust her not to run, I headed upstairs to Maggie’s room to talk to her. I knew she would be confused about why I had brought... Ginny… here. I hated using names when talking about those pointless creatures, it makes them feel equal somehow... And they weren’t.

But I knew Maggie. If I didn’t explain it, she would get confused and want to spend time with her, and that wasn’t going to happen. She wasn’t a pet. She was a slave. A worker. Nothing more.

I knocked and walked into her room, She was sitting on the floor, drawing. I smiled and went and sat on her bed above her.

‘Hey, Maggie, can we talk?’

‘Of course! You can pass me my colours’. I bent down and picked up the pens on the floor and held them out for her. ‘No! Wait until I ask for them!’. She scolded me. I couldn’t help but smile. She was so bossy.

‘So, Listen, you know I have the human here-’

‘Ginny’. I bit my tongue, She sees the good in everything, even things she shouldn’t, but nevertheless, I swallowed my annoyance.

‘Yes. Ginny. She’s here, but she’s not your friend, Mags, you have to stay away from her’. Her head shot up.

‘But, she IS my friend, Cole’. I shook my head.

‘No, She isn’t. She’s human, she will NEVER be your friend and I’m telling you to stay away from her. She will be living here now, but I want you to keep your distance, understand?’ She stood up and folded her arms, pouting.

‘No! She is my friend and I will talk to her if I wish!’.

‘No. You won’t!’. I raised my voice at her, so she knew I was being serious. I was the adult, this was MY house, and she WILL do as I said. Knowing this wasn’t up for debate, she screamed at me that she hated me and got on her bed, pushing me off and turned over, burying her face in her pillow.

Great and now she was mad at me.

Maggie had a wicked temper, always had, so when she gets like this, it's best to just leave her to it. Sighing, wishing this had gone better, I left her room, leaving her to pout and closed the door behind me again.
