"Mom is asking if we could spend Christmas we her," I said, walking out to the balcony where Aaron was sipping coffee and looking out at the ocean.

"Sure, that would be nice."

I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed his back.

This might just be the happiest I have ever been.

After graduating from university, Aaron and I moved into a place close to the sea, which blessed us with beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

And occasionally, whales.

I could see that he was happy as well. He did a lot more smiling and opened up more to me about things that bothered him.

I didn't want to say that he was following in Johnathan’s footsteps, but he was thinking of starting his own art gallery, and I would support him all the way.

"How is your mom doing?" I asked.

"Still not talking to me."

I leaned my head on his shoulder, still blaming myself for the now shitty relationship he now had with his mom.

"Stop doing that," Aaron said.

"You are blaming yourself again."
