The rain has begun once again and the chapel fell into stillness, save for the faint hum of the rain brushing against the stained-glass windows. The minister’s voice had barely faded when Hugh Lawson rose to his feet. For a moment, all anyone could hear was the creak of the old wooden pew as he stepped out from it. Then silence, again.

Annabelle held her breath.

Hugh moved slowly toward the pulpit, not with the ease of a man in control, but like someone dragging the weight of an entire life behind him. His gray suit was immaculate, his tie straight. Yet there was something frayed about him—his hands trembled slightly as they gripped the podium, and when he looked up, his eyes seemed older than they had days ago. He cleared his throat once, but even that seemed rehearsed.

“My son,” he began, his voice low, worn, and a little unsteady. “Damian was... many things.”

A pause. A rustle in the seats behind him.

The phone's ring pierced through the silence, jolting Devon awake. He groggily lifted his head, his eyes squinting from the bright screen of his laptop, which had been left open on the table. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, trying to shake off the fatigue accumulated from days of searching for Annabelle and Camille. As he reached for his phone, his heart skipped a beat when he saw the number on the screen. It was unknown, but something about it seemed familiar. Devon's instincts kicked in, and he quickly answered the call, his voice firm and alert. "Hello?" he said, his eyes narrowing slightly as he waited for a response. Devon's voice was laced with urgency as he spoke into the phone. "Who is this? What do you want?" The voice on the other end was distorted, robotic, and cold. "I have your family." Devon's grip on the phone tightened, his knuckles white with tension. "What have you done with them? Are they okay?" There was a pause, and then the voice spoke again, its t

"Devon, I know this is incredibly tough, but we're doing everything we can to find Annabelle and Camille," Rose said gently, her voice filled with empathy. Devon's eyes were red-rimmed from lack of sleep and worry. "I just feel so helpless, Rose. I should be out there searching for them myself." Rose placed a comforting hand on his arm. "Devon, you're doing exactly what you need to be doing right now. You're working with the best team possible, and we're all focused on bringing them home safely. Annabelle trusts me, and I know she'd want me to help you through this." Devon took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts. "Thank you, Rose. Just knowing you're here and that you're Annabelle's friend means a lot to me." Rose smiled softly. "We'll get through this together, Devon. We'll find them, and they'll come home to us.” The door creaked open once more, and four figures clad in black entered the caravan. They moved with a sense of purpose, their faces still obscured by m

Friday morning in Spain dawned bright and early, casting a warm glow over the city. Devon stood in his apartment, his luggage packed and ready to go. He had been waiting for this moment, eager to join Annabelle and Camille in New York. Just as he was about to leave, there was a knock on the door. It was Clara, his colleague and friend. "Devon, I wanted to catch you before you left," Clara said, her voice filled with warmth. "The project is in good hands now. We've got everything under control, and I’ll make sure it all runs smoothly while you’re away." Devon nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "Thanks, Clara. I appreciate it. I really need to be with my family right now." Clara's expression turned serious, and she placed a gentle hand on his arm. "Devon, I know what's going on. I've been following the news. You need to go be with Annabelle and Camille. They're going to need you now more than ever." Devon's eyes welled up with emotion as he looked at Clara. "You're

Hours had ticked by, and the staff members at Annabelle's residence grew increasingly anxious. They had been instructed to expect her return from the shopping trip with Camille, but as the minutes turned into hours, it became clear that something was amiss. The staff exchanged worried glances, their usual professionalism giving way to concern. After exhausting all other options, they decided to call emergency services. The operator answered promptly, and the staff member explained the situation – Annabelle and Camille were missing, and their whereabouts were unknown. The operator's tone turned serious, and she assured the staff that she would dispatch units to assist in the search. As the news spread, the city's security apparatus sprang into action. Police units were mobilized, and a citywide search was initiated. The streets were scoured, surveillance footage was reviewed, and potential witnesses were questioned. The authorities worked with a sense of urgency, driven by the knowle

The warm sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted the cozy atmosphere of the living room. Annabelle and Camille were nestled on the plush couch, surrounded by soft blankets and the gentle hum of the movie playing on the screen. However, Annabelle's mind began to wander, and she thought about how lovely it would be to spend the day with her daughter. "Camille, how about we ditch the movie and go shopping instead?" Annabelle asked, her voice filled with excitement. Camille's eyes lit up, and she turned off the TV with a whoop of joy. "Yes! I need some new clothes for school!" she exclaimed, already imagining the possibilities. Annabelle chuckled and ruffled Camille's hair. "Well, let's make a day of it, then. We can hit the stores, grab lunch, and maybe even catch a sweet treat." Camille bounced up from the couch, her ponytail bobbing with each movement. "That sounds like so much fun, Mom!" As they prepared to leave, Annabelle couldn't help but feel grateful for this li

The next morning, Annabelle and Camille were getting ready when Devon walked in to tell them that he couldn't be joining them because his project in Spain was not yet completed, and they still had a little stuff to take care of. Annabelle looked up from her suitcase, a hint of surprise on her face. "You're not coming with us?" she asked, her voice tinged with disappointment. Devon nodded apologetically, "I'm sorry, Belle. My project here isn't quite wrapped up yet. I still have a few loose ends to tie up." Camille looked up from her backpack, her eyes wide with concern. "But Dad, I don't want you to stay behind," she said, her voice filled with longing. Devon smiled warmly and knelt down beside her. "I know, kiddo. But I'll join you and Mom in New York as soon as I can. You two go ahead, and I'll meet you there." Annabelle nodded understandingly, though she couldn't hide her disappointment. "Okay, we'll be fine. You focus on wrapping up your project, and we'll take care of the me
