Never in a million years did I ever imagine that my longtime crush would turn out to be my best friend’s dad! The first time I saw Jackson was on my sixteenth birthday, and he captured my heart instantly. My boyfriend had just broken up with me because I wouldn’t sleep with him when we'd only been together three months. I wanted to take it slow and he was okay with it at first until he started disturbing me. I wanted to get intimate too but something just kept pulling me back. He seemed too desperate and I didn’t like that so I decided to give it more time. That didn’t go well with him. He dumped the news on me a few hours before my sixteenth birthday party, and my heart was so broken that I wanted to cancel the party. My feelings were all over the place and I was a mess. I just wanted to sulk up and cry myself to oblivion. Laurette and our friends wouldn’t let me. They dragged me to the bar and while they had all the fun, I sat in a corner, secretly moping the tears that flooded my eyes. They tried to cheer me up so many times but I just couldn’t bring myself to enjoy the night. I kept thinking about everything over and over again. I couldn’t believe that I woke up so excited and eager to see what my darling boyfriend had for me. I honestly thought he had a surprise for me because of the way he had been behaving lately, sneaking around and all. I thought he was planning something big for me. Well, he did plan a big surprise after all. Breaking up with me on my birthday is one heck of a surprise any girl would wish for… I was still wallowing in self-pity when this tall handsome man walked in and I mean this man was damn perfect. He had a lady on his arm, but that didn’t stop my eyes from feeding on him hungrily. His aura was so strong and I just couldn’t resist him. He noticed me after a few calculated stares from me, but his eyes didn’t stay long on me. As for me, my gaze never left his side. His high-end shirt did justice to his handsome face, nicely trimmed hair, chiseled chest which bulged against his shirt. The lady he went in with, who I assumed was his girlfriend, was all over him and I envied her. I wished it was me standing next to him, but then, I was only sixteen, and I could tell he was in his forties. I was very young and completely inexperienced about love, there was no way he would go for someone that naive. I left the bar that night, but I never forgot him. His face was ever registered in my head, and even after my boyfriend and I got back together, this strange man was still in my heart! It’s been four years and I never thought I would see him again or that he would be my best friend’s dad. However, standing in front of him again, I wasn’t sure if it was still love, but something in me awakened. An urge, a craving… call it whatever, but I yearned for every bit of this man! “I’m sorry, but I’m going to need my bestie now!” Arlene retorted, interrupting my thoughts as she dragged me back to the party. A guy was waiting for us, and he quickly stood up once we were standing in front of him. He was wearing a big smile and I could tell what was about to happen. “Laura, this is my friend, Andrew, he likes you and wants to get to know you better. Andrew, this is Laura, she’s my best friend, so I won’t take any BS from you, huh?” Arlene let out excitedly before leaving the two of us to it. Andrew seemed nice and good-looking, but he just wasn’t my type, or maybe my heart wasn’t ready for anyone that wasn’t my Jackson. Andrew and I got on the dancefloor and everything was going well until he started getting too handsy. He was all up in my face, pressing my body to his, and trying to touch me. “What’s wrong?” He asked when I finally pulled away from him. “Nothing, I just need to use the restroom, I’ll be back in a jiffy.” I replied and then walked away without waiting for a response. I was lying. I just needed an excuse to get away from his irritating attitude. I made my way upstairs, checking the rooms one after the other, trying to find Arlene’s room, so I could hide in there till the party ended. I was still at this when I noticed a room. The door was slightly opened, and I peeped inside out of curiosity. There was fantastic art in the corner, which further piqued my interest. I went in and, seeing the arrangement, I could tell it was Jackson’s room. I quickly went to the corner and got a good look at the art, which was really nice. I was about to leave when the water started running in the bathroom. For a split second, I got scared and contemplated whether to run or take a look. I decided to take a quick peep. I opened the door slightly and there was Jackson. Naked under the shower in his full glory! He was having a great time, lathering his body while the water poured over him in the sexiest way. I was so impressed with what I saw, and it made me weak to the bones. I was so lost in my imagination and mistakenly made a sound with the door. That was my cue to leave if I didn’t want to get caught. I quickly backed away, and ran out of the room…Jackson“Hey, baby,” I heard the soft voice which was followed by a gentle touch that made me snuggle the pillow the more. I thought I was having a sweet dream about Laura, and I didn’t want to wake up. I didn’t want it to end as that was the only means of reaching her and at least feeling her touch. I had gone to bed last night with a heavy heart not knowing what to do. I tried so hard to shake off the feelings and also the anger I had towards Arlene. If she hadn’t been childish with her tantrums, maybe Laura wouldn’t have moved and I would still have her around. I mean, I already did her wish, I called Laura in her presence and broke up with her. What else does she want? Why would she do that to her, knowing she was already heartbroken? I eventually fell asleep after much struggle but it was all worth it. This dream was a refresh on my soul. “Babe,” the voice came again and this time, it was more clear. I had a faint guess of who it could be and it wasn’t my dear Laura. I didn’
Arlene My dad had never yelled at me before until now, and standing there, I couldn’t believe my ears. “For crying out loud, are you even listening to yourself? Whatever you said to her prompted her to leave and I’m so disappointed in you!” The words didn’t hurt me as much as his tone. He was really loud and I was even scared at first. I stared at him in utter shock but I was relaxed when he seemed remorseful like he was going to apologize. But then, he suddenly turned around and walked out while I stood there, not able to get over the shock. I couldn’t believe what had just played out in front of me. It had never happened before. My dad had never been that mad at me, even the few times he was, he never reacted that way. Laura got into the picture and he’s suddenly being hostile towards me. That thought alone made me loathe her the more. She ruined everything!Good for her that she left already because I would have raced over there and chased her out myself. She started this fir
Jackson“Why isn’t she answering her calls?” I muttered under my breath as I made my way upstairs into my room. I had just gotten back from work and decided to call her since she wouldn’t leave my thoughts. I intentionally left early to work just so I could stop thinking about her. I could barely sleep all night, and I had to later take sleeping pills. I tried to take her off my mind but no matter how hard I tried, nothing was working until I took the pills. I slept off not long after but that only worked for a couple of hours. I was soon up and back to thinking about her. I knew the only way out was to leave the house. The fact that she was in the next building and heartbroken, was too much for me. I wanted to go to her and comfort her but I would be offending Arlene if I do that. I got dressed and made straight for work. Well, it didn’t get any better there. She was constantly in my thoughts no matter how hard I tried to distract myself by burying myself into work. I had three
Laura“So how was it?” My mom asked once I took the last bite of my food. I know she had been dying to ask since we started eating, I saw her stealing glances at me all through. She didn’t want to disturb me so she waited till I was done. “Very delicious, mom. I’ve missed your cooking, I don’t think I’ve had steak as good as this since I left.” I replied with a smile, and I was telling the truth. My mom is a good cook, and being a lover of good food, I always looked forward to her meals. “Thank you, my love. I know you have lots of things to tell us but I won’t disturb you tonight. Just go upstairs and have a good sleep. We’ll do some catching up in the morning.” She chimed in and before I could say a word, Laurette was giggling so hard that we all turned to look at her. She saw this and quickly threw her hands in the air. “Don’t mind me please, carry on!” She retorted and I just rolled my eyes.I hugged my mom and dad goodnight and went into my room. I had barely gotten into bed
LauraI slept right there in the living room, and I woke up feeling much more relaxed. I felt saner and that was the first time since everything went up in flames. I heard sound outside and I tiredly got up to check. I peeped through the window and saw Jackson getting into his car, ready to go to the office. I felt my heart ache seeing him leave, I wanted to run to him and hug him tightly. I wanted to tell him that I was leaving as I didn’t want to come between him and his daughter. But I didn’t do any of that. I couldn’t, so I just closed my eyes and soaked in the pain. The next minute when I opened my eyes, he was no longer there. I took a deep breath, turned around and scanned the whole place. I would be leaving soon and with no idea if I’d ever be coming back. I arranged the place, went into the kitchen, made a quick breakfast and then tidied the place up before going into the bedroom. I packed my things and about two hours later, I was ready to leave. My ride was waiting out
LauraArlene’s words kept echoing in my head even as she hurried upstairs into her room. I watched her vanished while I stood there and just stared into nothing. I stayed there for a long minute before I finally turned and slowly walked out of the house. I felt really light as I made my way back into my apartment. I was definitely not in my right senses as I could think clearly anymore. I got in and then sank heavily into the couch. I sat there and then replayed the whole scene all over again. The last part was the most hurtful. “My last advise to you, leave now that you still have some dignity left or face shame when my dad gets tired of you. When that time comes, he’s going to dump you like he did the ones before you!” I took each word and turned it over one after the other. A part of me wanted to believe it was all bluff and Arlene was only trying to get back at me for betraying her. But then, I remember very clearly how Jackson had treated his ex girlfriend she came around. A
Laura I couldn’t stop thinking about Jackson throughout the drive home. The image I saw was fresh in my head and my imagination started to go wild. I drooled at his toned biceps, peeking from under the shower, and inviting me. I got in the shower while he pinned me to the wall and planted
Laura I sat silently in the backseat and slowly drifted into my thoughts. It was my first time in California, and though it didn’t feel like it yet, I knew I would have such a great time. I’ve been here only two weeks and, so far, I’ve managed to make a friend. Arlene. She’s a billion
Jackson “Babyyyy!!!” Lisa exclaimed as she ran towards me and hugged me tightly. “What are you doing here, Lisa?” I replied when she finally peeled herself from my chest. “What do you mean? What am I doing here? Didn’t we agree to go to the event together?” She replied, rolling her ey
Laura The next day was our field trip in school, and I’d been really looking forward to the art projects and classes that would be held. However, I couldn’t go because I was still in shock and hadn’t gotten over the trauma. Moreover, after so many years of missing my crush and wishing I could s
