LOGINNico POV
“If you want to stay alive,” I said slowly, “you’ll never accuse me of putting on a show again.”
She laughed and I never say what was funny the sound was ugly and raw. It scraped through the room and into my skull like broken glass. “What else would you call this?” she asked, her voice hoarse, eyes burning through the tears. “You drag me here. You lock me up. You feed me scraps and you tell me I killed your brother.”
She pushed herself upright, legs shaking beneath her. “That’s not justice it's cruelty.”
I crossed the room in two strides and slammed her back into the wall. The impact knocked the breath from her lungs and my forearm pressed against her throat not enough to crush and not enough to end it. Just enough to remind her how thin the line really was.
“You don’t get to define cruelty,” I growled. “Not you.”
Her pulse throbbed wildly under my arm and I felt it. She shook, but she didn’t cry. “I loved him, how could I kill the man I loved” she whispered.
The word detonated and my grip tightened before I could stop myself. Her breath hitched, eyes fluttering, but she didn’t beg. That alone made my vision darken at the edges. “You don’t get to say that word,” I snarled. “Not to me especially not about him.”
Her hands fisted in my shirt, not pushing me away but anchoring herself. “I don’t care what you believe,” she rasped. “It doesn’t change the truth.”
Truth, that word again. I leaned in, my voice dropping into something poisonous and intimate. “Then tell me the truth, Lila. Tell me why my brother lied to you and why he hid his real name from you, his lover does that make any sense to you?. Why did he vanish without a goodbye.”
Her eyes flickered just once, “I don’t know,” she said, I smiled coldly. “Liar.”
“But,” she continued, lifting her chin despite the tremor in her body, “after meeting you, I think I understand.”.I stilled, “He was protecting me.”
My laugh was sharp and humorless. “From what?”
Her gaze locked onto mine with no hesitation.
“From you.”
Something ugly twisted deep in my chest not rage alone but something more dangerous.
Before I could answer, the door slammed open and Damon entered without knocking, he never fucking knocked.
His eyes took in everything in one sweep, my arm at her throat, her pinned body, the fear clinging to her like sweat then his gaze snapped to mine. “What the fuck are you doing?” he demanded but I didn’t look away from her. “Get out.”
He laughed, loud and derisive. “Look at this you brother,” he said. “You got her locked up like a trophy and won’t let anyone near her. You won’t even let her breathe without permission.”
I released her slowly. She sagged against the wall, coughing, but she stayed standing. “She’s under my control,” I said. Damon stepped fully into the room. “Funny,” he replied. “Doesn’t look like control, it looks like obsession to me, has she gotten you under her spell also.”
Lila stiffened at that and I turned to him slowly and deliberately. “You don’t speak to her,” I said and I regretted that immediately but I continued speaking. “You don’t look at her and you won't enter this room again.”
“And who decided that?” he shot back. “You?”
“Yes.”
The word landed like a gunshot and the silence stretched heavily. Damon smiled, but there was nothing friendly in it. “You forget something, brother. She was with our brother. That makes her part of this. That makes her mine too.”
I moved before thought, I had him by the throat, slamming him into the wall so hard the concrete also cracked. My forearm crushed his windpipe. His boots scraped uselessly against the floor.
“You touch her,” I said quietly, “and I will end you. We are not here to have fun but avenge our brother and father, if you dare disturb this i wont hesitate to execute you.”
His eyes gleamed wild, furious, unafraid. “You won’t,” he rasped. The truth of it punched straight through my ribs but I released him anyways, I won't let him provoke me. “Get out.”
Damon straightened, adjusting his jacket, never taking his eyes off Lila. His gaze lingered possessive and calculating. “This isn’t finished,” he said. “You don’t own her. No matter how badly you want to.”
Then he left and I turned back to her. “This room is sealed,” I told her, her voice shook. “You’re afraid of him.”
I grabbed her jaw, fingers digging in hard enough to bruise. “I’m afraid of nothing.”
Hours later, alarms screamed through the compound, information reaching us that one of our ship was engulfed in flames, tearing apart at the docks with men screaming, metal warping and water swallowing bodies.
This was definitely the Falcones, I stood before the screens, watching the inferno with a calm that felt almost holy. They had no idea, no idea their daughter was already inside my walls and they were just declaring war over a ghost. I returned to her room long after midnight. Smoke still clung to my clothes and blood stained my cuffs.
She sat upright the second I entered “What happened?”
“Your family,” I said calmly, “just destroyed one of my ships.”
Her face drained of color. “ but they don’t know I’m here.”
“No,” I agreed. “They think they’re hurting me after taking my brother and father, they want to destroy my business.”
I stepped closer but they just handed me permission her breathing turned shallow. “What are you going to do?”
I leaned down until my mouth brushed her ear. “I’m going to dismantle them piece by piece.”
She shuddered “And you,” I continued softly, cruelly, “are going to stay right here while it happens.”
I straightened and shoved the tray toward her. “Eat,” I ordered. “You’ll need your strength.”
“For what?” she whispered, my smile was sharp and merciless. “For surviving me.”
Nico POVThe words tasted bitter the moment they left my mouth. “If I am… would you stay?”I wanted her to say yes. No, I needed her to say yes, somewhere deep inside me, buried beneath years of violence and pride, lived a fragile hope that maybe, just maybe, she no longer hated me and that she didn’t still hold me responsible for shattering her world into pieces, because I had shattered it.and now, I was trying to rebuild it but in my image. In my way and my world where she belonged to me.God, I was a selfish bastard, i knew it but when it came to her, I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t stop wanting, needing and taking. I had destroyed everything she once knew, yet somehow she had become the center of my universe. The irony was almost laughable, the longer my skin brushed against hers, the more her warmth seeped into me her scent wrapped around my senses like a drug, sweet and dangerous and in that moment, I realized something terrify
NICOI have crossed the lines most men wouldn’t dare step near. I’d lied with a straight face, stolen without remorse, and killed without hesitation. I have done things that would damn a man twice over and none of it had ever shaken me the way this did. None of it had ever left my hands trembling or my chest locked so tight I couldn’t breathe but not until today.Fear, real fear, isn’t loud, because it doesn’t scream that It settles into your bones and turns them brittle. I feltit the second Lila collapsed upon my arm.One moment she was standing in front of me looking so pale, too quiet, but still upright and the next, her body crumpled as if someone had pulled the strings holding her together. She went limp in my arms, her head falling back, her weight dead and terrifyingly still. For a split second, I thought she was gone. That thought came so sudden, so brutal and it nearly brought me to my knees. I’d faced guns to my hea
Lila POVI cupped water in my hands and splashed it over my face again and again, as if cold water could wake me from this nightmare. I wanted no, needed this to be a hallucination. A stress dream. Just like the one where Nico had looked at me and said he loved me.That dream had felt real too but what the hell was happening to me?I brushed my teeth until my gums ached, trying to scrub away the sour taste of fear and bile clinging to the back of my throat. My stomach stayed twisted tight, anxiety curling deep in my gut. Even standing under steaming water, letting it beat against my skin, didn’t help. I couldn’t shake the dread. No matter how I twisted it, no matter how hard I searched for some hidden upside, I couldn’t find a single silver lining. The mess between Nico and me was too violent, too complicated, too soaked in blood and power. There was no version of this where pregnancy fit.“Miss Lila?”My heart dropped straight into my s
Lila POVHe bent over me suddenly, his presence blotting out the light, and he pressed his mouth firmly against my forehead. It wasn’t gentle and It wasn’t soft. It was desperate.“You scared the living hell out of me,” he muttered against my skin, his breath uneven. “For a second, I thought I maybe.. but he stopped himself".A small, weak smile curved my lips despite the pounding in my head. “What?” I teased quietly. “Don’t tell me you were actually worried about me sir?”He straightened so fast it was like I’d snapped a wire. “That’s not funny,” he snapped, already reaching for his jacket. In seconds, the man hovering over me was gone and replaced by Nico Fattore, sharp, controlled and untouchable. “I’m having food brought up. And you are not moving from this bed. Not an inch. Am I clear?”Just the mention of food made my stomach roll violently. “I’m not hungry,” I whispered. He shot me a look that brooked no argument. “You’ll
Nico POVShe stared at me with her blue eyes, and the brilliance that used to sparkle within those irises were back. “How?” she whispered softly.I stopped right in front of her, my gaze never leaving hers. “Because I was there. I had that same need inside me once.”Her eyes searched mine, her mouth parted slightly. “Nikolai. You needed revenge for Nikolai death.”I didn’t reply. I didn’t have to. The answer was already there, filling the space between us like thick smoke. She slanted her head to the side, her beautiful streaks of golden hair falling around her shoulder. “You needed revenge for your brother’s death, and that’s why you had me kidnapped. That’s why you plotted against my family because it was the only way you could break through the wall of grief. Grief that had the power to destroy you.”There was no judgement in her eyes while she spoke every word, no hostility or hatred as she figured out the motive behind the decisions I made in the past. The way she looked at me wa
Lila POV“Tell me do you still believe that death can atone for nothing?”Over and over, I imagined my father’s lifeless body. Every night that exact image was the last thing I saw when I closed my eyes. It was also the first thing I saw when I woke up. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop my mind from reliving those few seconds over, and over, and over again. But now, as I stood in front of a man that played such an important part in the nightmare I was forced to relive every day, the thought of him dying actually felt like it had the strength to numb the pain. Slowly, I started to replace the images of my dead father with images of a dead Doc and it made me feel stronger.“It’s time for your final verdict.” Nico pressed the nozzle of the gun against Doc forehead and he closed his eyes, tears streaming down his face, as snot spat from his nostrils.Nico released the safety of his gun, and Doc sobbed while he pissed himself. My heart hammered, but it wasn’t because of fear. It
