LOGINNico POV
“If you want to stay alive,” I said slowly, “you’ll never accuse me of putting on a show again.”
She laughed and I never say what was funny the sound was ugly and raw. It scraped through the room and into my skull like broken glass. “What else would you call this?” she asked, her voice hoarse, eyes burning through the tears. “You drag me here. You lock me up. You feed me scraps and you tell me I killed your brother.”
She pushed herself upright, legs shaking beneath her. “That’s not justice it's cruelty.”
I crossed the room in two strides and slammed her back into the wall. The impact knocked the breath from her lungs and my forearm pressed against her throat not enough to crush and not enough to end it. Just enough to remind her how thin the line really was.
“You don’t get to define cruelty,” I growled. “Not you.”
Her pulse throbbed wildly under my arm and I felt it. She shook, but she didn’t cry. “I loved him, how could I kill the man I loved” she whispered.
The word detonated and my grip tightened before I could stop myself. Her breath hitched, eyes fluttering, but she didn’t beg. That alone made my vision darken at the edges. “You don’t get to say that word,” I snarled. “Not to me especially not about him.”
Her hands fisted in my shirt, not pushing me away but anchoring herself. “I don’t care what you believe,” she rasped. “It doesn’t change the truth.”
Truth, that word again. I leaned in, my voice dropping into something poisonous and intimate. “Then tell me the truth, Lila. Tell me why my brother lied to you and why he hid his real name from you, his lover does that make any sense to you?. Why did he vanish without a goodbye.”
Her eyes flickered just once, “I don’t know,” she said, I smiled coldly. “Liar.”
“But,” she continued, lifting her chin despite the tremor in her body, “after meeting you, I think I understand.”.I stilled, “He was protecting me.”
My laugh was sharp and humorless. “From what?”
Her gaze locked onto mine with no hesitation.
“From you.”
Something ugly twisted deep in my chest not rage alone but something more dangerous.
Before I could answer, the door slammed open and Damon entered without knocking, he never fucking knocked.
His eyes took in everything in one sweep, my arm at her throat, her pinned body, the fear clinging to her like sweat then his gaze snapped to mine. “What the fuck are you doing?” he demanded but I didn’t look away from her. “Get out.”
He laughed, loud and derisive. “Look at this you brother,” he said. “You got her locked up like a trophy and won’t let anyone near her. You won’t even let her breathe without permission.”
I released her slowly. She sagged against the wall, coughing, but she stayed standing. “She’s under my control,” I said. Damon stepped fully into the room. “Funny,” he replied. “Doesn’t look like control, it looks like obsession to me, has she gotten you under her spell also.”
Lila stiffened at that and I turned to him slowly and deliberately. “You don’t speak to her,” I said and I regretted that immediately but I continued speaking. “You don’t look at her and you won't enter this room again.”
“And who decided that?” he shot back. “You?”
“Yes.”
The word landed like a gunshot and the silence stretched heavily. Damon smiled, but there was nothing friendly in it. “You forget something, brother. She was with our brother. That makes her part of this. That makes her mine too.”
I moved before thought, I had him by the throat, slamming him into the wall so hard the concrete also cracked. My forearm crushed his windpipe. His boots scraped uselessly against the floor.
“You touch her,” I said quietly, “and I will end you. We are not here to have fun but avenge our brother and father, if you dare disturb this i wont hesitate to execute you.”
His eyes gleamed wild, furious, unafraid. “You won’t,” he rasped. The truth of it punched straight through my ribs but I released him anyways, I won't let him provoke me. “Get out.”
Damon straightened, adjusting his jacket, never taking his eyes off Lila. His gaze lingered possessive and calculating. “This isn’t finished,” he said. “You don’t own her. No matter how badly you want to.”
Then he left and I turned back to her. “This room is sealed,” I told her, her voice shook. “You’re afraid of him.”
I grabbed her jaw, fingers digging in hard enough to bruise. “I’m afraid of nothing.”
Hours later, alarms screamed through the compound, information reaching us that one of our ship was engulfed in flames, tearing apart at the docks with men screaming, metal warping and water swallowing bodies.
This was definitely the Falcones, I stood before the screens, watching the inferno with a calm that felt almost holy. They had no idea, no idea their daughter was already inside my walls and they were just declaring war over a ghost. I returned to her room long after midnight. Smoke still clung to my clothes and blood stained my cuffs.
She sat upright the second I entered “What happened?”
“Your family,” I said calmly, “just destroyed one of my ships.”
Her face drained of color. “ but they don’t know I’m here.”
“No,” I agreed. “They think they’re hurting me after taking my brother and father, they want to destroy my business.”
I stepped closer but they just handed me permission her breathing turned shallow. “What are you going to do?”
I leaned down until my mouth brushed her ear. “I’m going to dismantle them piece by piece.”
She shuddered “And you,” I continued softly, cruelly, “are going to stay right here while it happens.”
I straightened and shoved the tray toward her. “Eat,” I ordered. “You’ll need your strength.”
“For what?” she whispered, my smile was sharp and merciless. “For surviving me.”
Nico POVShe flicked on the lights then let her heavy coat fall into down her arms before she hung it up on the coatrack. Her red dress was backless, showing the small muscles that flanked her spine. The steep curve in her back was prominent, so sexy I accidentally bit the inside of my cheek as I stared at it.I unbuttoned the jacket of my suit as I came up behind her, my mouth hungry for that beautiful skin.I gripped both of her arms as my lips moved to the back of her neck. The second my mouth was on her body, I was lost. My hands squeezed her limbs, and I kissed her hard, devouring her in the entryway. I pulled her against my chest as my kisses migrated more toward her face. I tugged her against me and forced her head back, exposing more of her neck to my reach. My warm breaths fell on her skin as I kissed her, letting my cock grind against her ass through my slacks.I’d been hard on and off all night, and now my dick was about to rip through my pants. She panted right away, archi
Lila POV“One.” I held up my forefinger. “You definitely aren't letting me on what is going on with you. So I better head home and rest to prepare for tomorrow work, Nico.”I held up a second finger. “Two. You said I could leave, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”He slowly slid his hands into his pockets, a quiet sigh sounding under his breath. His jaw tightened and the muscles in his cheek shifting slightly. Disappointment burned in his eyes as he fought the helpless feeling.““I hate that you brought me here only to shut me out,” I snapped, my voice trembling with anger and hurt.“You expect me to stay loyal to you while you keep acting like I don’t exist.”He stayed silent and I laughed bitterly, wiping at my tears before they could fall freely. “What am I supposed to think? You barely touch me anymore." My chest tightened painfully.“Sometimes I wonder if you’re hiding another woman somewhere, sleeping with her while I sit here losing my mind.”His expression didn’t change, and
Lila POVI have never been more conflicted than I was now.“The Falcone are a well-respected family and your father have quite a reputation.”“I bet my father is turning in his grave right now and I haven't even allowed myself think about my mother.”He propped both of his arms on the table, his hands resting right in the center. His watch reflected the light, and he leaned forward slightly, getting closer to me. “Regardless of what you think beauty, I'm the only one for you and don't think you can walk away from me, just because I brought you there.”“ I'm definitely not considering that, where would I even go?”His eyes narrowed even farther, slightly terrifying. “You always have a choice but that choice must include me.”This man was an enigma and he seemed to be a criminal with morals. “What if I don't want you included in my choice?.” I asked. He grinned. “Beauty, I would have let you walk away if you’d put up a better fight but we both know you didn’t want to put up a fight. Lila POVThe back door to the car opened, and he emerged, over six feet of pure handsomeness. In a three-piece black suit with shiny shoes and a flashy watch, he looked like the boss he is and maybe I have truly forgotten who he really is.With hair perfectly styled and that damned lopsided grin, he looked right at me like this was some kind of game. I faced forward and ignored him.He entered the restaurant, and his footsteps sounded behind me. Heavy.with a slow pace, he took his time as he approached my table. Before he even arrived, I could smell his scent, his pure masculinity that vibrated in the air around us.He pulled out the chair and sat down, replacing Adam who brought me to this restaurant but cancelled at the last minute.Nico broad shoulders covered the chair behind him, and he made himself comfortable with his perfect posture. His hands rested in his lap, and he looked at me with an intense expression that mirrored the coldness of the ocean.Fifteen men took their place
Lila POVHe leaned against the counter slightly, his head tilted to the side as he stared at me.I still remember been held captive in that room in the Moretti family house, a lot has happened but it still feels like yesterday.I'm worried because I don't know exactly what is going out in him life and I'm more concerned about what happened if this is the last time he shows up. “So I heard there's, this guy messing around.” If it was a bluff, it was a damn good one. That would be my first impulse, but since nico was far more intimidating than I realized, I found myself wanting to protect Adam rather than myself.“Are you spying at me, Nico?” My heart warned me with every beat. Nico could be aggressive when his jealous but Adam is just an ordinary guy playing around, I never even took him seriously, it just fun watching him trying to win me over. “These beautiful flowers.”“Nico, I don't know what you are thinking but please don't kill an innocent guy.” I held my ground the way I could.
Lila POVAfter two week passed, the memory of our conversation in the plane still stayed with me. I didn't return to his house rather he got me an apartment in Rome and we haven't seen since then. One of my neighbors seems to even take a liking for me but he didn’t have the sexy confidence I liked in Nico, and he didn’t possess a silent power I found intimidating, but that shouldn’t matter because I wasn’t here looking for love. I don't know what exactly is going on and why he isn't telling me anything.I also started working in a flower shop and people usually picked up their arrangements closer to the weekend. The only time I worked during the week was for funerals because weddings and bridal showers always took place on Saturdays and Sundays. The bell rang overhead when a customer came into the shop. My back was to the door as I stood at the table, tying a ribbon around a vase. My shears were on the table along with chopped rose stems. My gloves were thick to protect my fingers fro
Lila POVNico had placed another one of his T-shirts on the bed, which I pulled over my head, he was standing by the window, back turned to me, still talking on the phone. For a moment I allowed myself to see him as a man an attractive man who took care of his body his back was roped with defined m
Nico POVBut my little brother had already made up his mind. He launched at me, and I yelled over my shoulder, “lila, run!”With a hard shove I pushed her out the door and ducked just in time as Damon fist came flying toward my face. With a punch to Damon gut, I jerked up straight and flung my othe
Lila POV“Fine. Just know that I’m very disappointed in you, nico.”“That makes two of us. Now, the truth.”She sighed over the speaker. “Nikolai was in love with the tramp. He wanted to marry her.”My heart stopped, and nico took his hand off mine. “Your father refused. He said that she wasn’t goo
Nico POVI had to come back.Thank God I came back.I was on my way to my bedroom when I accidentally dropped the sheets of paper that burned my fucking hand. The anger and rage that buzzed through my body was so strong, it surpassed the fury I felt when I found out that my brother had been murdere
