LOGINNICO POV
“She’s just too scared, man,” Damon muttered, dragging both hands through his hair. “She’s not going to fucking open it.”
I didn’t look at him. “You need to work on your patience, little brother,” I said calmly. “Patience is a virtue.”
Damon groaned. “Oh God, you know I hate it when you say shit like that.”
I lifted a brow. “Shit like what?”
He glanced at me. “Shit like patience is a virtue, you sound like a fucking sixty year old.”
I snorted. “They’re idioms, Damon.”
“I don’t give a fuck what they are. They’re stupid.”
I scoffed, ignoring his attempt at looking unfazed the slang, the lazy stance, the ridiculous swagger he picked up from his friends and cousins. He thought it made him look dangerous but It didn’t.
The screen shifted and Lila moved again. My attention snapped fully to the monitor as she reached for the box for the second time. The moment her fingers brushed the edge, adrenaline surged hard and fast through my veins. I leaned against the table beside Damon, bracing myself this was it.
I wanted to see her face when reality hit and when she realized this wasn’t a misunurstanding or a bad dream, but a carefully constructed nightmare. “Open it, sunshine,” I murmured. My grip tightened on the table, thrill and irritation coiling together in my chest. Damon snorted.b“Devil woman? Nice, it suits her perfectly.”
I ignored him, Lila pulled at the white string slowly, like it might bite her and when it slid loose and fell away, she leaned back, staring at the box as if it were alive. “Open it,” I muttered, leaning closer to the screen, my fingers itching for the weight of my gun as she bit her thumbnail. I could practically hear the war going on in her head and fear screaming at her to leave it alone but curiosity clawing forward anyway and curiosity always won.
When she lifted the lid, my spine tingled and anticipation burned low in my gut, sharp and electric. I was seconds away from something dangerous, rage, satisfaction, maybe worse.
She looked down and I knew the exact moment she understood. Her face drained of color before the scream tore out of her, she scrambled backward off the bed, hit the wall so hard, and slid down it, sobbing. “Oh my God!” Her voice cracked through the speakers.
“Jesus Christ! What the fuck is this?”
Tears, panic and chaos. It was beautifu and poetic, almost watching her fracture, watching her mind splinter in every direction at once.
Finally after months of planning and waiting the Falcones were going to feel this also. I straightened, victory thick on my tongue. The only way to get rid of the weight on my chest of the father and brother taken from me was by blood and her blood. Damon glanced at me, eyes lit. “Game on, brother.”
I smiled, “Game on.”
And that’s when I noticed it that Lila wasn’t screaming anymore she’d gone still, too still.
Her eyes weren’t wild now they were locked on something specific inside the box. I frowned, that wasn’t the reaction I expected.
Something twisted faintly in my gut but I ignored it.
LILA POV
“Oh my God.”
I rocked back and forth, knees pulled tight to my chest, face buried in my arms. I couldn’t look. I wouldn’t. Whatever nightmare I’d just opened had crossed a line my mind wasn’t ready for, what the fuck was happening?
Who were these people really?
And why was there a severed finger in that box?
But the better question is whose finger was it?
No, no, I didn’t want to know. I squeezed my eyes shut, willing myself to wake up but the room stayed cold, silent and real. I’d been kidnapped, Nikolai was dead and his twin brother had left me a human finger like a fucking gift but how could the Nikolai I knew belong to this family?
The Nikolai I loved, did I even know him?
My chest tightened painfully. Nico had said his surname wasn’t even real. I hadn’t known his family, his world, his secrets. Tears spilled as panic took hold but wat were they going to do to me?
Kill me?
Torture me?
Make me disappear?
My parents’ faces flashed in my mind, and my body started shaking uncontrollably. For the first time since leaving home, regret crushed me, If I’d stayed, they would’ve noticed I was missing by now. Instead, I might already be dead before anyone realized.
My breathing broke apart, lungs burning as I fought for air. I hated crying. I’d cried enough when Nikolai vanished and I was heartbroken over a man I’d known for barely two months but I loved him.
He hadn’t cared about my surname and bout the money, the yachts and the power my father own.
He’d cared about me but now he was gone and his brother thought I was responsible. The thought shattered something inside my chest.
I slid down the wall, curling in on myself, shaking violently and minutes passed or even hours.
Eventually, something registered through the fog. Silence, I lifted my head slowly.
The box was still on the bed but the finger had rolled free and that’s when I saw it something metallic glinted under the light.
My heart stuttered, “No,” I whispered, pushing myself upright. “Please, God no.”
I wiped my face, forced my legs to work, and stepped closer each step felt like walking toward my own execution but I braced my hands on the mattress and leaned there was a finger, severed finger and on it was a ring.
Platinum, gold F. Black square. Every man in the Falcone family wore one and my stomach dropped out completely. “No,” I sobbed, collapsing forward, pressing my face into the sheets. “No, no, no”
A voice cut through the room. “ Do you recognize the ring?”
I jerked upright, heart slamming violently as I stared toward the wall speaker. “Does it look familiar?”
I knew that voice cold and controlled. Nico and suddenly, I understood something terrifying.
That finger wasn’t meant to scare me, It was meant to test me.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked, my voice shaky. "I bet that tiny little mind of yours is spinning trying to figure out whose finger is laying on the floor."
I stepped backward toward the wall, scanning the room. My heart pounded so hard I was sure he could hear it. "You recognize the ring, don't you?" His voice was low and deliberate.
I glanced up. "What kind of twisted game are you playing?"
"It's a game called master and pet."
"And you think I'm the pet?" I challenged, trying to mask my trembling hands. "By the way your body is shivering against that wall, your fear vibrating through every bone yes, you are."
I closed my eyes, cursing my weakness. I am not weak. I am not scared. I am ... My courage wavered under his gaze. "Yes. I recognize the ring, you fucking psycho!"
"Good." A hiss of air from the wall made me lurch back. I regretted insulting him before I even finished the thought. The door then opened. It was him. Nico in black suit flawless, his midnight hair perfectly styled, dark eyes glinting with danger. My body froze and my stomach tightening. He looked so much like Nikolai yet every movement screamed different.
"Did you like my gift, Miss Falcone?" he asked, dark eyes tracing the scar above his right eyebrow. "You already seem pissed off to me," I whispered. He smirked, wicked and precise. "Believe me, Miss Falcone, you haven't seen me pissed off…yet."
"Why did you put that finger in a box for me?" I asked, my voice a mix of fear and defiance.
"It's a warning."
"A warning for what?"
"The better question is a warning to whom?" His smile grew. I wouldn't fall for coaxing.
"That ring, Miss Falcone, belonged to the man your father hired to kill my brother." I gasped softly. "You seem surprised."
"My father didn't hire anyone." He paced slowly, calculating, rubbing his chin. "Are you sure? How much do you know about your father's business? And how he runs his empire?"
I stayed silent because I knew nothing. Art was my little world and it never prepared me for this. He smiled, cold. "As I suspected. You don't know a thing. Let me enlighten you." His pace was calm, terrifyingly deliberate. "Your father has a legion of men. He sits on his throne while others do his dirty work. In this case, to kill my brother he hired a murderer who got a paycheck and a ring."
I shook my head, stomach twisting. "Why would my father want Nikolai dead?"
"That, little pet, is for you to answer." "There's just no motive," I muttered. His gaze lingered over me. "I see plenty of motive right here in front of me."
"My dad never met Nikolai. So why would he want him dead?"
"You really don't know why, do you?"
"I swear, Nico. I have no idea. You have it all wrong. My father didn't have Nikolai killed. There's is really no motive."
"That you know of." His words cut sharper than any knife. Silence pressed down, suffocating.
"You said the finger was a warning for someone. I take it that someone is me?" I whispered. "Oh no he replied smiling miss Falcone having you trapped here is warning enough for now."
"For now?" I felt my blood run cold. He only smiled again, darkness in his eyes. "The warning is for your father, Lila." "Then why give it to me, I asked?"
He stepped closer, scent overwhelming, heartbeat synchronized with mine. "Who do you think will receive the rest of that hand?"
"My father" The word trembled off my lips.
Nico laughed. It was cold, bone chilling. "You think he's coming now? That he knows I have you?" He traced my jaw, fingers gentle yet commanding. "I wanted time with you. That hand won't be sent for seventy-two hours."
My heart stopped. My lungs froze. "What do you think I'm capable of in seventy two hours, Lila?"
It wasn’t a question. It was a promise. He stepped back abruptly. "Now, let's start with a few rules. This," he waved, "is your new home. Live it, breathe it. Get used to it the sooner, the better for you."
I crossed my arms, trying to anchor myself. "How long do you plan on keeping me here?"
A wicked grin spread across his face. "Oh, Miss Falcone, until they carry you out in a body bag."
Nico POV
Watching the fear spread across her face and seeing her trembling hands, the rapid heartbeat I could almost feel against her chest those were the moments I'd treasure forever.
This was just the beginning. Every bite of fear, every tear shed, every question unanswered it all stoked the fire. She would learn. She would pay. The Falcone family had taken my brother from me, and I would take everything back…starting with her.
My blackened soul rose from the ashes as I watched the dread etch itself onto her delicate face. The sunshine of the devil woman standing before me would burn in hell once I finished.
She might not have pulled the trigger, but by seducing my brother, she had lured him to his death.
I stepped back and leaned against the wall.
"What's wrong, my pet? Cat got your tongue?"
Her tears rolled down, bitter and sweet all at once. "Why are you doing this?" Her voice trembled, and it ignited something savage inside me.
I shrugged. "I told you you killed my brother."
"I'm not lying! I didn't even know he was dead! I thought he left me!" She fell to her knees, sobbing violently. Music to my ears. I crossed my arms. "Now, Miss Falcone. Don't waste your energy putting up this show. You'll need it for what I have in store."
"You got it all wrong believe me," she whispered, rocking back and forth. "I loved him, and I " "Shut the fuck up!" I stormed toward her, every step pounding the ground like a warning. She scurried back until her back hit the wall. Hearing her say she loved my brother fed the monster inside me, letting it growl, claw, and slam against the gates I tried so desperately to keep behind.
I glared down at her. "You Falcone know nothing of love or loyalty. All you know is how to steal, lie, and take what doesn't belong to you." "That's not true," she hissed, defiance trembling in her voice and I smiled darkly because the truth was, she was actually learning.
Nico POVShe flicked on the lights then let her heavy coat fall into down her arms before she hung it up on the coatrack. Her red dress was backless, showing the small muscles that flanked her spine. The steep curve in her back was prominent, so sexy I accidentally bit the inside of my cheek as I stared at it.I unbuttoned the jacket of my suit as I came up behind her, my mouth hungry for that beautiful skin.I gripped both of her arms as my lips moved to the back of her neck. The second my mouth was on her body, I was lost. My hands squeezed her limbs, and I kissed her hard, devouring her in the entryway. I pulled her against my chest as my kisses migrated more toward her face. I tugged her against me and forced her head back, exposing more of her neck to my reach. My warm breaths fell on her skin as I kissed her, letting my cock grind against her ass through my slacks.I’d been hard on and off all night, and now my dick was about to rip through my pants. She panted right away, archi
Lila POV“One.” I held up my forefinger. “You definitely aren't letting me on what is going on with you. So I better head home and rest to prepare for tomorrow work, Nico.”I held up a second finger. “Two. You said I could leave, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”He slowly slid his hands into his pockets, a quiet sigh sounding under his breath. His jaw tightened and the muscles in his cheek shifting slightly. Disappointment burned in his eyes as he fought the helpless feeling.““I hate that you brought me here only to shut me out,” I snapped, my voice trembling with anger and hurt.“You expect me to stay loyal to you while you keep acting like I don’t exist.”He stayed silent and I laughed bitterly, wiping at my tears before they could fall freely. “What am I supposed to think? You barely touch me anymore." My chest tightened painfully.“Sometimes I wonder if you’re hiding another woman somewhere, sleeping with her while I sit here losing my mind.”His expression didn’t change, and
Lila POVI have never been more conflicted than I was now.“The Falcone are a well-respected family and your father have quite a reputation.”“I bet my father is turning in his grave right now and I haven't even allowed myself think about my mother.”He propped both of his arms on the table, his hands resting right in the center. His watch reflected the light, and he leaned forward slightly, getting closer to me. “Regardless of what you think beauty, I'm the only one for you and don't think you can walk away from me, just because I brought you there.”“ I'm definitely not considering that, where would I even go?”His eyes narrowed even farther, slightly terrifying. “You always have a choice but that choice must include me.”This man was an enigma and he seemed to be a criminal with morals. “What if I don't want you included in my choice?.” I asked. He grinned. “Beauty, I would have let you walk away if you’d put up a better fight but we both know you didn’t want to put up a fight. Jus
Lila POVThe back door to the car opened, and he emerged, over six feet of pure handsomeness. In a three-piece black suit with shiny shoes and a flashy watch, he looked like the boss he is and maybe I have truly forgotten who he really is.With hair perfectly styled and that damned lopsided grin, he looked right at me like this was some kind of game. I faced forward and ignored him.He entered the restaurant, and his footsteps sounded behind me. Heavy.with a slow pace, he took his time as he approached my table. Before he even arrived, I could smell his scent, his pure masculinity that vibrated in the air around us.He pulled out the chair and sat down, replacing Adam who brought me to this restaurant but cancelled at the last minute.Nico broad shoulders covered the chair behind him, and he made himself comfortable with his perfect posture. His hands rested in his lap, and he looked at me with an intense expression that mirrored the coldness of the ocean.Fifteen men took their place
Lila POVHe leaned against the counter slightly, his head tilted to the side as he stared at me.I still remember been held captive in that room in the Moretti family house, a lot has happened but it still feels like yesterday.I'm worried because I don't know exactly what is going out in him life and I'm more concerned about what happened if this is the last time he shows up. “So I heard there's, this guy messing around.” If it was a bluff, it was a damn good one. That would be my first impulse, but since nico was far more intimidating than I realized, I found myself wanting to protect Adam rather than myself.“Are you spying at me, Nico?” My heart warned me with every beat. Nico could be aggressive when his jealous but Adam is just an ordinary guy playing around, I never even took him seriously, it just fun watching him trying to win me over. “These beautiful flowers.”“Nico, I don't know what you are thinking but please don't kill an innocent guy.” I held my ground the way I could.
Lila POVAfter two week passed, the memory of our conversation in the plane still stayed with me. I didn't return to his house rather he got me an apartment in Rome and we haven't seen since then. One of my neighbors seems to even take a liking for me but he didn’t have the sexy confidence I liked in Nico, and he didn’t possess a silent power I found intimidating, but that shouldn’t matter because I wasn’t here looking for love. I don't know what exactly is going on and why he isn't telling me anything.I also started working in a flower shop and people usually picked up their arrangements closer to the weekend. The only time I worked during the week was for funerals because weddings and bridal showers always took place on Saturdays and Sundays. The bell rang overhead when a customer came into the shop. My back was to the door as I stood at the table, tying a ribbon around a vase. My shears were on the table along with chopped rose stems. My gloves were thick to protect my fingers fro
Lila POV“Fine. Just know that I’m very disappointed in you, nico.”“That makes two of us. Now, the truth.”She sighed over the speaker. “Nikolai was in love with the tramp. He wanted to marry her.”My heart stopped, and nico took his hand off mine. “Your father refused. He said that she wasn’t goo
Lila POVNico had placed another one of his T-shirts on the bed, which I pulled over my head, he was standing by the window, back turned to me, still talking on the phone. For a moment I allowed myself to see him as a man an attractive man who took care of his body his back was roped with defined m

Nico POVI had to come back.Thank God I came back.I was on my way to my bedroom when I accidentally dropped the sheets of paper that burned my fucking hand. The anger and rage that buzzed through my body was so strong, it surpassed the fury I felt when I found out that my brother had been murdere
