Chapter 13

I turned around to see Enzo standing in the doorway, his expression unreadable. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice quiet but demanding.

I hesitated, unsure of what to say. Elena stood frozen beside me as I tried to come up with a response. But before I could say anything, Enzo spoke again. "Winter, please just tell me what's going on. Why do we need to leave town?"

My heart pounded in my chest as I looked into his eyes. "We can't stay here," I finally said, my voice trembling slightly. "There's something not right about this place, about you."

Enzo's eyes widened in surprise at my words. "What do you mean there's something not right about me? Winter, I promise you I would never hurt you or your friends".

I could feel the wolf inside of me fighting to come out to protect Elena and me. I couldn't stand here listening to him. I couldn't trust him or a word he said because he'd been lying to me this whole time.
