Chapter 4

I spent half of my morning in court since Mr. Samuelson did not agree that his children be with his wife. All the presented evidence showed that he would get drunk often, come home late, and beat his children and wife, however he continued to deny that it was him. At the end of the case, the judge agreed that the children stay with Mrs. Samuelson and that he be put on a restraining order.

The last two days have been hectic for me in terms of this case, and I'm thankful because it put to rest my questioning thoughts of Adair and I's accidental bump in. I didn't understand what a billionaire was doing at a park and why he was there. Regardless, I had no time to ponder for too long thanks to the Samuelson case.

Walking into my office, I put my handbag and laptop down. I'm starving and I still have an hour and a half till Mr. and Mrs. Adair come in. I decide to ask Aaliyah if she wants to go out for lunch, but see her busy talking to another client on the phone. There were a lot of other lawyers who work in the firm, but I like to keep my circle of people I interact with small.

Walking out of the firm, I settle on going to the my favorite cafe, Cafe Alosa. Cafe Alosa has the best sandwiches and wraps at a very good price and they make it very fast, perfect for a busy lawyer like me.

"Hi there, how can I help you today?" A short brunette smiles as I make my way to the front of the cash register.

"Could I get a falafel wrap and one iced tea please." I say.

"Sure thing! Anything else?"

"No thank you that's all." I say taking my credit card out to pay.

Grabbing my food, I sit down by the window and eat my wrap and check my emails when I see a Bugatti La Voiture Noire pass by.

"Holy shit. Is that?" I say in shock.

Who else could own a $12.5 million car.

I'm about to grab my stuff and head out when I take a look at my watch. It's only 1:10pm and his appointment doesn't start till 1:30pm. I quickly call Yasmin to check if he's in the office and she says no.

Sitting back down, I decide to finish my lunch. I'm starving and his appointment didn't start till 1:30pm. If he was there he had to wait. There was no way I was going to let his billionaire status push me around.

Walking back, I'm met with the Bugatti again along with another black jeep parked behind it with two large body guards standing outside of it. Dressed from head to toe in black, both hold a gun to their chest earning confused looks from people walking by, and forcing some to even move away from them to create distance.

Of course, what else did I expect from a billionaire couple.

One of the guards looks at me as I walk by and I shoot him a smile but his lips remain in a tight line and he looks back to the firms enterance totally ignoring my greeting.

What an asshole.

Making my way into my room, I let out a sigh of nervousness and frustration. I've never been nervous for a meeting with clients or even in the court room. For some reason I don't understand why I am today. In terms of frustration, if the Adairs' are anything like their bodyguard I don't think I'll be able to take the case. I absolutely hate rude and obnoxious people.

But he did apologize for bumping into me.

Just as I'm about to sit down Aaliyah bursts into my office.

"Oh my gosh, Aaliyah what happened?!" I exclaim putting my hand to my heart.

"You won't believe who I just saw downstairs in the lobby." She smiles widely.

"Let me guess, it was Alexander Adair?" I smirk taking a seat.

"YES!" She shrieks.

That's weird. I didn't see him, and I just got upstairs. I wonder if he'll remember how he bumped in to me, even if it was two days ago. I highly doubt that he would since he meets over hundereds of people every day, and a part me hopes that he doesn't, saving me the embarrasement.

"Aaliyah quiet down, I know you have a huge crush on him, but please he might be our future client and I don't want it to look unprofessional." I remind her.

"Fine." She sighs the smile never leaving her lips.

"Good." I smile at her and she sticks her tongue out at me and walks out causing a laugh to escape me.

Using the couple mintues left before our meeting, I take deep breathes to calm my nervousness down and remind myself that it's only Alexander and Anna Adair, no one special. If they try to make themselves special, I'll kick them out of here.

Meeting time finally rolls around and Aaliyah comes into my office. "Sarah, he's here! Do I look good?" She says fixing her blouse and hair.

"You look gorgeous as always." I smile.

"Okay, well here goes nothing!" And with that she walks out giving me a fingers crossed sign.

Two minutes later there's a knock on my door. Thanks to those couple minutes I had, I feel so much better and my nervousness has died down.

"Come in." I state with confidence.

As the door opens, Aaliyah walks in with a drop dead gorgeous couple and I force myself to keep my jaw closed. I have seen Mr. and Mrs. Adair on magazines, but they look so much better in person. Despite already briefly meeting him in person, I couldn't take a proper look at Mr. Adair during our incident because of everything happening so quickly.

No wonder Aaliyah is so nervous. These two look like a power couple.

My eyes land directly on Mr. Adair and I think my heart just skipped a beat. His eyes watch me attentively as I get up from my seat, his face giving away no reaction of remembering our previous encounter.

"Mr. and Mrs. Adair this is Ms. Sarah Carter." Introduces Aaliyah.

I firmly shake both of their hands and say "It's nice to meet you two."

Mrs. Adair was the first to shake my hand. "It's nice to meet you too and thank you for meeting with us for our case." She smiles warmly.

Mrs. Adair has short blonde hair loosely curled to her shoulders. The contrast of her blonde hair and dark brown eyes makes her stand out from the usual blonde hair and blue eyes combination. Compared to my 5ft 5inch petite frame she is tall, not as tall as Mr. Adair, but probably three to four inches shorter than him. She's dressed from head to toe in Chanel and you can smell the sweet perfume all over the room. I notice the exquisite red A necklace that hangs from her neck, and the color compliments her skin so well.

I turn to Mr. Adair, and to say the least, he's perfect. He's so tall that I have to slightly lean my head back just to stare at him. He could easily be around 6'3. I wish I didn't make eye contact with him, because that 6ft man dressed in a dark blue Armani suit is drop dead handsome. Now that I can actually take a look at him, he's hands down the most handomest man I've ever seen.

The suit, just like last time, fits him in all the right places flaunting his musular body and broad shoulders. His black hair is styled nealty to the side and his marble-colored hazel eyes, that held me captivated last time, hold power and prestige. I feel like if I continue to stare into them he'll be able to kill me with his eyes. His perfectly pink lips and his sharp jawline are to die for. A light stubble grows on his well-defined face and never before did I find facial hair as attractive as I did on this man. I have to tell myself to stop staring at him as soon as I realize that he isn't breaking our eye contact.

Without uttering a word, he reaches out to shake my hand. As soon as I put my hand into his, I feel a wave of electricity go up my arm and around my body. I quickly jolt my arm back as if his touch just burnt me and his eyebrows raise with a look of confusion written all over his face.

Way to go Sarah, he probably thinks you're a creep.

Aaliyah clears her throat, and as soon as my eyes land on her, she gives me a smirk and winks.

What was that about?

"If you need anything please let me know Ms. Carter." And with that she walks out of the door giving me a quick thumbs up.

This is going to be one hell of a ride.
