Chapter 1: The Blueprint of Rebellion

last update publish date: 2026-09-25 18:13:55

The sound of graphite scraping against heavy vellum filled the minimalist studio.

Claudia Vioz bent over her drafting table, her dark hair hastily pinned up with a stray pencil, fully absorbed in the sharp lines of her latest architectural design.

Outside, through the tall, unwashed windows of her warehouse studio, the city of Oakhaven was drenched in a relentless midday rain, mirroring the chaotic pace of her thoughts.

For three days, she had tried to drown herself in work.

She analyzed structural loads, tweaked spatial layouts, and rewrote zoning compliance reports until her eyes burned from the harsh glow of her desk lamp.

Yet, no matter how many physical walls she built, she couldn’t create a barrier strong enough to keep her out.

The ghostly scent of jasmine still lingered at the edge of Claudia’s awareness.

Every time she closed her eyes, she was transported back to that rain-slicked balcony at the Grand Luminary Hotel, pulled by the magnetic attraction of a woman whose face remained partly hidden behind a black lace mask.

She could still feel the phantom heat of slender fingers tracing the curve of her jaw, the breathless weight of a voice whispering against her lips, and the crushing emptiness of waking up to that cold, folded note.

A beautiful mistake. Let’s keep it that way.

"Dammit," Claudia muttered, tossing her mechanical pencil across the table.

It rolled off the edge and clattered against the concrete floor.

She grasped the edges of the drafting table, lowered her head, and took a slow, calming breath.

As a Vioz, she was expected to be calculating, logical, and unaffected by something as transient as a one-night stand.

She didn't even know the woman's name, for God's sake.

It was a mutual agreement—a brief escape from the masks they both wore in high society.

Yet, it shouldn't have left such a deep, aching void in her chest.

A sudden, sharp vibration on the wooden table shattered the silence.

Claudia flinched, her gaze shifting to her phone.

The screen lit up with a name that immediately stiffened her posture and set her jaw in a familiar defensive stance.

Amorcio Vioz.

Claudia let it ring.

One.

Two.

Three times.

She contemplated letting it go to voicemail, but she knew her father.

Amorcio didn't accept unanswered calls; he viewed them as an act of corporate treason.

If she didn't pick up, his private security or a sleek black town car would show up at her studio doors within the hour.

With a heavy sigh, she snatched the phone and pressed it to her ear.

"What do you want, Amorcio?"

"Is that how you greet your father, Claudia?" Amorcio’s voice was smooth yet icy—deep, resonant, and completely lacking warmth.

He ran his billion-dollar empire with strict control and treated his only daughter the same way.

"I see your manners haven't improved despite the generous allowance I still deposit into your account."

"If you only called to insult my career, I'm hanging up."

"Hold your tongue," Amorcio snapped, the velvet dropping from his tone, leaving only the ice.

"I am calling because your presence is required this Thursday evening. Eight o'clock sharp. At the estate."

Claudia stopped pacing.

She looked out at the rain, a cold dread pooling in her stomach.

Family dinners at the Vioz estate were never just dinners.

They were calculated political theater.

Amorcio used them to parlay power, display his trophies, or force Claudia into meetings with eligible bachelors from rival tech or real estate dynasties—men he wanted to use to anchor her back into his corporate web.

"I’m busy, Amorcio. I have a deadline for the Northside library project."

"Cancel it," her father commanded, leaving absolutely no room for negotiation.

"This is not an invitation, Claudia. It is a mandate. I am hosting a private dinner to introduce a highly significant development in my life. A development that involves the future of the Vioz family legacy."

Claudia frowned, her curiosity momentarily overriding her spite.

"What kind of development?"

"You will find out on Thursday. Dress appropriately. I’ve had my personal stylist send a selection of gowns to your loft. Do not embarrass me by showing up in your paint-splattered denim."

"I'll wear whatever I want," Claudia whispered, but the line was already dead.

She lowered the phone, staring at the blank screen as a familiar resentment returned.

Amorcio always managed to control her, manipulating her life like a marionette in his elaborate display cases.

For years, she resisted him by accepting freelance design work, living in a converted warehouse district, and defying his strict standards.

Yet, he still held the keys to the kingdom, and his gravity was terrifyingly inescapable.

Turning back to her drafting table, Claudia picked up her pencil from the floor.

She tried to refocus on the clean, sharp lines of the library blueprint, but her hands were trembling slightly.

The impending dinner weighed heavily on her mind.

What was Amorcio planning?

A new corporate merger?

A public relations stunt?

Whatever it was, she knew it would mean trouble for her.

She rubbed her temples, the image of the mystery woman from the Grand Luminary hotel flashing through her mind once more—a beautiful mistake.

Claudia closed her eyes and took a deep breath, almost hoping to catch the faint, intoxicating scent of jasmine in the dusty warehouse air.

That night was the only moment in her twenty-four years when she felt entirely free from the weight of the name Vioz.

For a few hours, she was unencumbered, captivated only by the burning, alluring desire of a beautiful stranger.

"Just a mistake," Claudia muttered to the empty room, forcing herself to press the graphite back to the paper.

"Forget her. You have a war to prepare for on Thursday."

She immersed herself in her work, aiming to strengthen her emotional defenses over the next few days.

She planned to confront her father, endure any corporate spectacle he orchestrated, and return to her studio unharmed.

She felt confident she was ready for whatever trap Amorcio Vioz might have laid out.

However, as the rain kept pouring over Oakhaven, the countdown to Thursday was already underway.

No amount of structural engineering could prepare Claudia for the complete upheaval of the world she thought she understood.

The silence inside the sprawling mahogany room was heavy, suffocating, and instantly lethal. It was a dense, physical vacuum that seemed to suck the remaining warmth from the air, leaving nothing but the cold, clinical scent of luxury linen and old money.Hailey Grace Valdemort stood frozen across the threshold, her hands clutching her leather bag like a shield that had already been pierced through the center. The morning light filtering through the excessive cream silk hangings was harsh, painting the room in a slate-gray clarity that left no room for illusion. Her amber eyes locked onto Claudia’s bare, rain-scabs-marked shoulders, then flicked downward to the blonde hair spilled across the silk pillows beside her.Hailey could not define what exactly she was feeling. It was a sensation that transcended mere jealousy, a toxic, paralyzing numbness that seeped into her very bones and slowed her pulse to a dull, heavy thrum. Her world seemed ready to shatter at any given moment, the fra

  • Forbidden Ties    Chapter 19: The Blueprint of Betrayal

The fragile liberation of the studio didn't even survive the weekend. By Sunday afternoon, the clinical, multi-billion-dollar gravity of reality crashed back down on Hailey’s shoulders with a devastating force. A single phone call from her family’s desperate attorneys, detailing the imminent federal indictment of her brothers if the Vioz liquidity injection wasn’t finalized by Monday morning, tore through her remaining resistance. She had built another fortress, colder and more impenetrable than before. She sent Claudia a single, bloodless text message: I cannot let my family burn for a beautiful mistake. The press release goes live tomorrow. Do not contact me again outside of professional parameters. The rejection hit Claudia like a structural collapse. Her protective devotion, her reckless vows to burn her father's empire to the ground—all of it was reduced to rubble by a single, clinical paragraph.By midnight, Claudia was drowning herself in a bleak, high-society lounge on the edg

  • Forbidden Ties    Chapter 18: The Collapse of Structural Integrity

For two agonizing hours, the drafting table remained a psychological minefield. Daniella had extracted every ounce of satisfaction she could from the arrangement, dropping laced comments and heavy touches, while Hailey endured the slow-motion execution of her own soul. But high-society games needed an audience, and eventually the warehouse's suffocating atmosphere grew too dense even for a Silvantez. "Well," Daniella said, sliding her leather folder off the desk with a smooth, synchronized movement. She checked her diamond-encrusted watch, her eyes throwing a final, predatory glance between the two women. "I think the preliminary parameters are perfectly understood. I’ll report back to Tito Amorcio that we are making... exceptional progress. See you tonight, Claud." She leaned in, deliberately pressing a lingering kiss to Claudia’s jawline—one that Claudia allowed solely to keep her gaze anchored on Hailey’s shattering composure—before spinning on her heel. The heavy metal studi

  • Forbidden Ties    Chapter 17: The Crucible of Friction

The rain against the high warehouse windows shifted into a heavy, rhythmic drone, sealing the three women inside the concrete studio. Daniella tossed her wet designer umbrella onto a nearby leather chair, her heels striking a slow, deliberate cadence as she approached the drafting table. She laid the sleek folder of environmental reports directly over the topographic maps, her movements calculated, her eyes gleaming with a predatory focus. "Tito Amorcio was incredibly specific about the cliff stabilization," Daniella said, her voice smooth and airy, though it carried an unmistakable edge of malice. She leaned over the table, her gaze intentionally dropping to Claudia’s right wrist, where Hailey’s embroidered gold initials were stained a deep, dried rust. "He doesn't want anything sliding out of place. He likes things... anchored." Hailey stood rigidly by her stool, her charcoal wool jacket buttoned tight, her fingers laced neatly over her leather clutch. Her corporate mask was

  • Forbidden Ties    Chapter 16: The Architecture of Deception

The air inside Claudia’s warehouse studio was heavy with the scent of rain, damp concrete, and the sharp tang of graphite. At exactly eight o'clock, the relentless morning downpour hammered against the high, unwashed windows, creating a dull roar that failed to drown out the suffocating silence settled over the drafting table. The land surveys and blank vellum sheets for the new coastal property were spread out like a battle plan between them. Nachoz had left minutes earlier to coordinate with the site surveyors, leaving Claudia and Hailey entirely alone in the cavernous, minimalist space.Claudia stood over the table, her dark hair pinned back loosely with a wooden drafting stylus. Her midnight-black silk dress had been replaced by a pair of faded denim jeans and an oversized black canvas work shirt, the sleeves rolled up to reveal her forearms. Wrapped tightly around her right wrist was Hailey’s white linen handkerchief. The crimson bloodstain had dried into a deep, rust-colored kno

  • Forbidden Ties    Chapter 15: The Geometry of Suspicion

Daniella Silvantez swirled the lukewarm dregs of her espresso, her gaze fixed entirely on the empty corridor leading to the cafe's private restrooms. To anyone else, Daniella was a creature of pure high-society luxury—a flawless, unbothered heiress who navigated Oakhaven’s elite circles with the effortless grace of a runway model. But beneath the diamonds and the designer label armor lay a razor-sharp intuition that had kept her alive and relevant in a world built on deception. She knew Claudia Vioz better than anyone else in this city. She had spent two turbulent years memorizing the cadence of Claudia’s laughter, the exact shade of dark fury in her eyes when her father cornered her, and the protective walls she built around her heart. And right now, those walls were structural anomalies. They weren't making sense. "The Valdemort portfolio is a sound investment, of course," Amorcio was saying, his voice a low, booming hum as he sliced through his flawless eggs Benedict. He was en
