Marriage Contract
Signed
Helena and Aaron
Aaron smiled to himself while reading Helena's handwritten screenshot of what she called a marriage contract. His finger scrolled to enlarge the image until it was clear. It was as clear as their conversation before dinner last night. Indeed, he was the one who put forward the idea of discussing their future relationship, which he didn't know ended up in a marriage contract.
Aaron's smile gradually turned into a small laugh. He enjoyed the enthusiasm Helena showed when she wrote these clauses. He could take it, except for one thing that was removed from the list. No interaction unless necessary. How did two people who were living together do it? Were they both robots who could survive by not talking to each other? Helena's suggestion was strange.
Then his eyes turned to the walk-in closet, which was also filled with Helena's various items. Yes, the belongings she brought had been there, even though the owner of the goods wasn't in the same room. As agreed, Helena slept in another room.
Aaron was a little disappointed with the woman's decision. Undeniably, his heart always wanted to be close to his wife, as before when Helena was within his sight. However, he couldn't do much. For the moment, Helena wanted it, and he would make it happen.
Then, how was his hatred for her? Humans are not entities whose feelings can be compartmentalized easily. Human emotions are complex. It was as complicated as Aaron's feelings for Helena. However, there was still a hint of a disappointment for the woman. And he behaved as he wished. There was no pretense because he could never really pull it off.

Aaron walked down the stairs while buttoning his shirt sleeves. His head turned left and right. There was no one on the first floor. However, his eyes could see the appearance of the food on the kitchen table. Then, where was Helena?
Faintly, he could hear the sound of gurgling water. Helena was in the bathroom. Soon, he heard the door open. And yes, it was his wife. Who else?
Aaron sat in one of the empty chairs in the kitchen area. The kitchen design was a bit unique. There was a reasonably large table. It would make cooking more manageable and function as a dining table equipped with two chairs without backrests. They could have a meal there and didn't always use the dining room, even though the existence of the two rooms—the kitchen and the dining room—was adjacent and without a partition.
"Morning," said Aaron, feeling so awkward. But if he didn't do it, the awkwardness would become even more apparent. Their situation did make things feel awry.
"Morning." Helena was no less clumsy in replying. Then, she took a seat on the empty chair beside Aaron.
The two of them started their breakfast silently. Helena had prepared a simple sandwich toast with an omelet, cheese, and lettuce. It was completed with a cup of Aaron's favorite hot coffee to start the day.
Aaron took a bite of her bread with the occasional sip of Helena's coffee. Ah, the woman understood his taste. A small cup of bitter coffee that wasn't too thick was enough to spoil his tongue for the black beverage. And he preferred to drink it warm, especially in the morning.
Aaron suddenly remembered something. The item he should have given before their wedding took place. He took his wallet out of his pocket and pulled something out of it.
"This." Aaron handed Helena a black card. "You can use it however you want," he added.
Helena's forehead wrinkled at the item Aaron gave her, which was a credit card. Then, she turned his gaze toward him. "I don't need it," she replied. There was a hint of confusion there. Why did Aaron give a credit card to her? She could fulfill her needs with her own money. Aaron was very aware of it.
"You said that this marriage is about you and me. But, now you're forbidding me to interfere in our marriage?" asked Aaron, quoting Helena's words the night before, which created the number three of their marriage contract.
Helena was silent. Her mouth worked faster than her brain. She forgot that she wasn't single anymore. She had a family. Worse, she forgot her own words! Maybe, this was the tiring effect of the wedding that hadn't gone away until it made her mind and body not appropriately synchronized. Only a day passed. And on the second day, she planned to take a rest. Sleeping all day sounded enjoyable.
Hesitating, she took the card. "I will use it well," Helena said, then positioned the object closer to her.
Aaron nodded in satisfaction. He gave his credit card for Helena to use it. Whether to buy their household needs or fulfill her desires, Aaron handed his wife complete freedom. However, it didn't mean that he only bore the material needs and freed him from other responsibilities. It was just that he wanted to make it a part of his role in their marriage. "Use it as you please." He repeated his words.
"Okay."
Then, silence. Helena and Aaron were again busy with their thoughts.
"Don't you want to take a day off?"
Suddenly, she changed their conversation. Thinking of her plans for today made her think of Aaron. He must have felt the same way. Moreover, Aaron had to keep working the following day after their wedding.
"What for?"
"Aren't you tired after yesterday's event?" Helena asked. This time, she was looking at him with a worried look on her face. Fatigue wasn't a good friend to work with.
Aaron slightly backed his body while crossing his arms. He tried to hide his big smile after hearing the worried tone in the woman's voice. "Are you worried?" he teased.
The worried expression slowly turned sour. Helena hated the way Aaron spoke. She was apprehensive about his condition.
Aaron chuckled a little. But then, he decided not to tease his wife anymore. Maybe, later he was the one who would be tempted. "Don't worry. I'll be taking a week off next week. Where do you want us to go on our honeymoon?" Oh, he broke his word.
Helena immediately gave a sharp glance to Aaron. "I didn't say that," she grunted in annoyance.
"But, you want it, don't you?"
Helena scowled. She was at a loss for words to reply to him and all his seductions. She chose to ignore it and continued her breakfast.
"I want to kiss you. When can I do it?"
And Helena almost choked on it.
"What did he say?""He wants to kiss me.""Haven't you guys kissed before?"The question asked by Sophie seemed to silence Helena and made her speechless. No, it wasn't about the question that hit her hard because she knew the answer very well. Ever. So hot, deep, and intoxicating. The wildest thing she had ever done with Aaron was the kiss. Sometimes it was just a light kiss that could often turn wild and passionate. However, that was all. Helena and Aaron were trying to maintain their logic and not let it lose to their desire.Yes, a sliver of memory about it made her quiet. It was too embarrassing for her to admit that it wasn't for once the hot kiss that happened, even to her best friend."Seeing your reaction, it's clear that you do it often," Sophie guessed while nodding her head in understanding.Sophie is Helena's best friend. They had been friends for almost ten years. And although in recent years they rarely saw each other i
- I'll cook spaghetti for dinner. -The message came when Aaron was busy with reports of one of his grandfather's subsidiaries under his control. From Helena. Who else? He had to check many times to make sure that the sender was indeed Helena. That words managed to create a broad smile on his face. It had been a long time since he had exchanged messages with Helena. The woman didn't bother to send him a message and chose her assistant to do it for her. It was also rare because, well, there was nothing they talked about. And the message was like an oasis in the desert, amid the awkwardness between them and Helena's cold attitude Helena. The news was a sign that his wife was starting to soften her heart. They had only been married for ten days. And she had shown the change. What a surprise! He quickly typed his reply while she was in a good mood.- Have you got the ingredients? -Aaron hoped
Helena smiled in satisfaction when she saw Aaron and the vacuum cleaner in his hand. The man kept his promise to help her with the household chores. Not only that day because he often gave a hand. For example, he washed the dishes and the cooking utensils after using them. Especially on the weekend, which was his day off, his chores also increased.Helena had just finished drying clothes. She walked towards the kitchen. Then, she opened the large refrigerator to check their food supply stored there. There was a little left, but at least enough to make several kinds of meals for their lunch and dinner. It might be sufficient for tomorrow. So, not going shopping that day wouldn't be a problem. She took a tiramisu from the refrigerator. It was the dessert she made the day before. She deliberately served in medium-sized glasses to make it easier to eat. Relaxing after work was fun. It could be a form of reward for what she just did, washing and drying clothes.Helen
"Damn it!"The curse slid freely from Helena's lips. Several hours had passed, but her memory was still etched into the most embarrassing incident for her. What else besides her hot kiss with Aaron? For her, there was nothing more embarrassing than that. The way Aaron kissed her and how her body reacted... What a shame! She seemed to be slapping herself for the inconsistency she showed. A month had not passed since their wedding. And look how inconsistent she was. So she was easily swayed by her husband's behavior."Damn it!"Again, Helena gave the same curse. She didn't count how many times the word had been said. Her brain was too busy thinking about it all. More specifically, her stupidity. She should have just let Aaron have wild imaginations about her and the lingerie from the start. Or, she should have pushed him as hard as she could before he could hold her and hypnotize her through his gaze. Or rather, Helena should have maintained her sanity when Aaron
"Didn't you say you were going to order food?" Helena asked after ten minutes of sitting next to Aaron, and the man hadn't done what he said. Yeah, you are not wrong. Finally, she lowered her guard and let his arms wrap around her shoulders from the moment she sat there. And she didn't protest at all. More precisely, she was lazy to do it. She doubted she would win against her husband in a debate that she believed would occur once Helena showed her refusal."Oh, I almost forgot," said Aaron quickly. He then took his phone from the table in front of him. "What do you want to eat?" he asked, starting to scroll his fingers over his black smartphone.Helena looked at him while frowned her eyebrows. "Pizza. You said you'd order it.""Ah, yes. Pizza." Aaron responded as if the idea had been around for a long time. "Are you serious about ordering it?"The frown still lingered on her forehead. Helena looked at him in surprise. It was clear that she was interested
As promised, Aaron accompanied Helena shopping the next day. There was a little debate about the time of their departure, before or after lunch. But later, the two of them agreed to have lunch outside. Then, they could freely shop. They decided to go to The Houston Mall. The first goal was to see the places Aaron had to offer for Helena's cafe. He freed Helena to choose an empty area spread over several floors of the mall. And she took a vacant place on the ground floor. As compared to the cafe that had been established, the place she chose was not that wide. Slightly narrower in size. But, no problem. Helena could use glass walls to give the illusion of a broad and spacious room. In addition, glass walls could spoil the eye with a monotonous view. Well, even though, in the end, they could only see the environment around the mall and human traffic there. But at least, it gave a better sight than being in closed partitions. Helena nodded, satisfied with the pl
Having Rachel as her assistant was the right decision. The woman was a hard worker with perfect and satisfactory results. Therefore, Helene could always rely on her in various situations, including taking care of Helena's Cafe. However, it didn't mean Helena could relax and only received the report from her. Helena kept an eye on everything and gave the necessary directions. They had known each other for five years. At first, Helena refused to hire an assistant. What for? She felt that she could be able to do everything alone. But, George, her eldest brother, insisted. He said the presence of a personal assistant was beneficial. Even though Helena was not interested in joining the family business, her assistant could help her take care of her assets. Correction. It had given to her. While she was engrossed in her hobby, cooking--she was running a blog about food recipes--Rachel could replace her by monitoring her finances. At first, Rachel's work was limited to that.
"I'm glad you're coming," commented Aaron shortly after seeing his wife emerge from behind the door in his room. That woman always looked beautiful. A pastel knee-length dress wrapped her beautifully along with her long hair that she didn't tie. Ah, Helena was beautiful. Always.Helena closed the door behind her, then walked over to the big sofa there. "Of course. I promised you," she replied as she put the handbag, she was carrying on the table.Aaron glanced at his watch. It was exactly fifteen minutes before lunch. "Can you wait a minute? I have to finish this first," he said, referring to the file in his hand.Helena understood that. She nodded and silently let Aaron return to his work. It was the risk of visiting people's offices. She didn't want to interfere with Aaron during his working hours. After all, who was she? She was not Aaron's employee or co-worker. So, it was unethical for her to be selfish and asked him to pay attention to her.Helena f
