Afgan felt cornered because of the wound on his back. The man had experienced a great tragedy when he was still a child. He grew up in the midst of his busy parents who were rarely home. Despite being neglected by his father and mother who were too busy with their own world, Afgan found true comfort and affection from a loving middle-aged nanny.

“Bik Minah,” Afgan murmured in a trembling voice, trying to mask the pain that hit him so deeply. He felt dew starting to collect in his eyes, signaling that even his frozen heart couldn't contain his emotions.

Afgan drove the car faster. “I should have been the one who died in that incident!” Afgan screamed in a high tone and was still trying to contain his anger.

The nanny was the only person who really cared about him, giving him the love and attention he needed. She replaced the role of his father and mother who were never there for him.

This special relationship made Afgan love her very much. The nanny taught him the values of life, gave him a sense of security, and guided him through his difficult childhood.

However, tragic fate struck them one night. Their house was engulfed in flames. As the fire engulfed their house, Afgan and his nanny were trapped inside.

Little Afgan was rescued, but was crushed by burning wood, leaving gaping burns on his back.

Every time he looked at the burns on his back, he was reminded of that night. It was a physical wound that constantly reminded him of the deep emotional wound in his heart. His anger would peak that very second.

From the outside, he seemed strong and unshakable, but inside, he was a broken person filled with indescribable pain.

To her, the world was a cold and cruel place, and she was determined not to let anyone get close, fearing that they would steal a piece of the warmth left in her.

“Arghh! I've lost my appetite for work today!” shouted the arrogant heiress in a huff.

A moment later, Afgan decided to turn the steering wheel towards the hotel where Melinda worked. His stomach had not yet been filled with food and his feelings were mixed.

“I'd better ask Melinda to have breakfast together,” he said excitedly.

Arriving at work, Adelia tried to hide her feelings behind her professional smile.

“Good morning, dear Adelia,” greeted Melinda warmly as usual.

Adelia only replied with a brief smile, filled in the finger attendance and returned to her unfinished work.

Feeling surprised by Adelia's attitude, her friend approached, nudged Adelia's arm with her elbow and half-whispered in Adelia's ear. “How are you, newlyweds?”

Adelia smiled wryly and gently pushed Melinda's body away. Melinda knew nothing about Afgan marrying Adelia. She wasn't even invited to Adelia's wedding because Adelia herself didn't get a single invitation card so she didn't invite anyone.

The forced wedding she had was really only organized to invite the male side of the family.

“Is everything okay?” Melinda asked seriously.

Adelia snorted in annoyance and then replied, “no big deal. Just finish our work. I still have to visit the room on the fifth floor and the elevator is out of order. I'm not in a good mood and I'd rather not chat for now.”

Melinda nodded slowly. “That's just how it is when we work here. I don't plan on working forever.”

“Hey, I'm going to date a rich guy and become his wife,” Melinda said with sparkling eyes while putting her palms together.

Adelia glanced at Melinda with annoyance. Adelia muttered to herself, 'That rich man you're targeting is the husband who just married me.'

But, of course, she didn't dare say it. With a heavy sigh, Adelia tried to refocus on her tasks, trying to take her mind off personal matters.

Although it was difficult, she decided not to let her feelings hamper her productivity. She didn't want to get fired because she still needed a monthly salary.

“Oh yeah, I told you about my replacement guy, didn't I?” asked Melinda deliberately while nudging Adelia's arm with her elbow once again. The woman didn't realize that Adelia didn't like being nudged.

Adelia glanced over and wanted to answer, but suddenly the hotel door opened and Afgan walked in with steady steps.

A friendly smile was etched on the man's handsome face, calling out to Melinda.

“Melinda.”

She brooded in the middle of the night, sitting on her bed with her mind in turmoil. The silence of the house was only interrupted by the wind tapping on the windows. The cold nights were shared only with her little daughter who often woke up at night to ask for milk.A message arrived on Melinda's cell phone in the middle of the night, as she was giving milk to the little one.[Already asleep?]Melinda simply read the

Today he wasn't working because it was the first day of 2024.All employees were closed and Afgan had no reason to work.
