LOGIN(Asher’s POV)
I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white as I drove through the rain-slicked streets. My heart pounded in my chest, frustration and fear clawing at me. I had barely stopped the car before jumping out, tugging the hood of my jacket over my head to conceal my face. My bodyguards followed closely behind, but I barely acknowledged them.
(Author's POV)Ian’s eyes shimmered and his chest clenched as he saw the people he loved and had wonderful memories of standing in front of him with warm grins.“…you…” He tried to speak, but his voice broke halfway.Aurora’s smile softened even more when she saw his reaction. She stepped forward slowly.“Happy birthday, Ian” She said gently. That was it took. Ian let out a shaky breath, his vision blurring slightly now as the tears finally slipped past.“You all…you lied to me” He shook his head, a small, disbelieving laugh escaping him.“Obviously” Ryan
(Author’s POV)It had been almost an hour of silence, unanswered questions, and Ian trying unsuccessfully to read even a single hint from his brothers. He shifted in his seat again, glancing at Ryan through the rearview mirror.“Okay, seriously, how far is this place?” He said, leaning forward slightly.“We’re almost there” Ryan didn’t even blink.“That’s what you said twenty minutes ago”.“And we still are” Ryan replied smoothly.“This is torture” Ian dropped back into his seat with a groan.“You’ll survive” Asher chuckled quiet
(Author’s POV)Ian marched to his room. The door slammed shut behind him with more force than necessary, the sound echoing through the hallway. He ran a hand through his hair, pacing back and forth like a caged storm.‘His birthday and no one was acting like it mattered. Not Owen. Not Ryan. Not Asher. And worst of all, not even Aurora’. That thought hit differently. He paused mid-step, jaw tightening. This was supposed to be his first birthday with her. Something he had been looking forward to without even realizing how much it meant to him and yet, nothing. As if that wasn’t enough, the nervousness from the selection results was still there, sitting quietly in his chest, making everything heavier. He stopped near his desk, gripping the edge for a
(Author’s POV)Aurora stood near the counter, completely engrossed. The soft clinking of utensils filled the space as she moved around, preparing breakfast. She was focused, carefully arranging things, unaware of the approaching storm.Until, arms wrapped around her from behind, tightly. Aurora startled for a split second. Then relaxed instantly.“Ian” She said softly, a small smile forming.“Your husbands are horrible” Came his muffled voice against her shoulder.“Good morning to you too” Aurora let out a quiet laugh.“No, not good,” He complained, still holding onto her.
(Author’s POV)Aurora had returned from college earlier than Ian that day.The mansion felt quieter than usual, not empty, but expectant. She placed her bag aside and walked into the living room, her mind still lingering on the field, on Ian’s focused expression, on the way he had played like everything depended on it.She exhaled softly and picked up her phone. Within minutes, the call connected with Owen, Ryan and Asher. A rare moment, just the four of them, without Ian.“What happened?” Ryan asked first, his tone direct.“Selections are done” Aurora leaned back slightly against the couch.“And?” Asher’s voice came, qui
(Author’s POV)The next day, the mansion was still wrapped in the quiet of dawn when Ian left. It was barely 5 a.m. The sky held that faint blue-grey hue before sunrise, the world not fully awake yet but Ian was.For once, there was no teasing, no lingering, no loud announcement of his presence. He stepped out quietly, glancing back just once at the mansion before getting into his car.Today wasn’t about noise. It was about everything he had worked for.By the time he reached the college grounds, the sun had just begun to rise. The field stretched wide, slightly damp from the morning air, the faint scent of grass lingering.A few of his teammates were already there, gathered near the benches, talking.
(Aurora’s POV)As the meeting ended, I wasted no time. My heart was pounding as I quickly walked out of the hall, my mind racing. I knew Ian would have questions, and I wasn’t ready to answer them, especiall
(Ian’s POV)I leaned casually against my car, scrolling through my phone as I waited for Aurora. My mind drifted to our tense, quiet drives the past few days, and I sighed.
(Aurora’s POV)I was overjoyed when I learnt that I would be attending college and pursuing my aspirations. Next morning, I woke up with a smile for the first time in this mansion. I got ready and adjusted my dres
(Aurora’s POV)Mr. Skylar turned to one of the maids with a firm, but polite, instruction."Please take Aurora to her room and kindly ensure she is comfortable" He sai
